  • Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said a deputy was shot and killed early Tuesday morning while serving a felony search warrant. The Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) said that Sergeant Michael Brooks and Deputies Johnny Holsonback III, Adam Pennell and Blane Lane arrived at a trailer on Foxtown South in Polk City around 3 a.m. to serve Cheryl Lynn Williams, 46, a warrant. Williams had an outstanding felony warrant for failure to appear on a possession of methamphetamine charge.

That's just vindictiveness, not justice. Everyone else in the mobile home with her, were completely unarmed cooperating with the officers. None of them told the officers that it was a BB gun?

So two deputies are in the same room with the suspect. They get off 6 rounds only 2 hit the suspect and the rest miss and fatally wound an officer outside. So they missed the suspect with 4 rounds in the same room. Something is not right here. Also, no communication between officer Lane and the other deputies as to where his position will be.

Sheriff Grady said after he was shot, he walked about 4 steps away and fell to the ground and the other officer came to his side to help, then four more shots went off. The bullets went through the side of the mobile and may have hit something solid and deflected in another direction. The police inside the mobile weren’t necessarily aiming towards the people outside the mobile.

They started firing first and last! After the first shot was fired from each cop and no return fire was coming back. They should have never fired again. But I’d think after fist shot they opened up after that. I’d assume the two shots that hit her were their first shots. The next 4 were misses because they lost their cool and adrenaline took over and the shots went wild. I don’t see how she gets murder wrap she never fired and couldn’t fire anything but a bee bee. I’m just asking and giving different perspective. Hope the whole truth comes out.

@J Damian Abel, RN I am saying that unless advanced training for entry hasn't been taken and passed they had no business serving the warrant and had other options they could have taken until properly trained individuals arrived to make entry. The 21-year-old deputy most likely had very minimal training being that he was first a sheriff corrections officer and was recently promoted to a patrol deputy.
Their egos caused this situation and the outcome. The desire to go break into and exert power and control is what causes death.

You obviously have a poor understanding of the law. Felony murder is what she's charged with. Felony murder is applied when someone is killed while commiting a felony.
So if you and a friend get in a chase with police and a cop kills your partner in crime, YOU get a felony murder charge. If you agree to be a getaway driver for a bank robbery and the guy goes in and kills an employee, even though nobody was supposed to get hurt and you were just the driver, YOU get a felony murder charge.
I don't always agree with the way they apply this law but in many cases it's deserved.
