I love your videos. Maybe go into business selling chill pills? Or is that just repackaged Valium? My friend was recently upset, she's lived here for years and said 'I should be over it by now,' but she was walking around Kigali Heights and everyone was commenting about her appearance. She speaks fluent Kinyarwanda, and can understand everything people say. She thought it was because she was white that people assumed she didn't understand, so felt free to say those things in front of her. Shalom brother. My husband and I are wanting to move to the continent. Initially Rwanda and Tanzania were at the top of our list. TZ won't let us own land and Rwanda has the clean up law which is on our sabbath. Heartbreaking! We love the idea but cannot go against our faith. We are now hearing that the country will allow you to choose a different day! Hoorayyyy! (hoping it's true). Anyway we are looking into buying land to build a home on in Rwanda again. Wondering if you could recommend cities less expensive than Kigali? Someplace for us to homestead, i.e. grow food have livestock for personal use. Thank you for your time and attention.
awesome! sounds like you guys have an exiting journey ahead! At this point in time, any land outside of kigali is relatively cheap! I would you recommend you to visit the country first, to get a better feel of what you want exactly.

And yes, your girlfriend should have a whole section or segment to herself because she can help women of all ages understand Rwanda from a woman's perspective.
Chill pill is mandatory... I went to a beautiful restaurant with Rwandans. We ran out of conversation before the food came 2.5 hours later. The stares were an interesting experience especially when I spoke and didn't get a reponse. Travel and communication is an important part. If you ask a question or ask for help, directions etc., they are more than helpful. I would like you to ask other Rwandan the questions traveller's shouldn't. Now that I live in Rwanda I am experiencing some of the things you mentioned in the video. The staring is constant and intense. Sometimes I ignore it and other times I stare back at them and even look at them up and down. Sometimes they look away and other times they just keep staring. And yes even in my own home. When I was sitting on my bedroom balcony, it faces the street where people, motos, and cars pass. They just stare at me and I'm thinking I'm supposed to be looking at you not the other way around. Don't get me started about the waiting. From getting internet installed to dealing with the bank or MTN services, I am having to practice extreme patience. I have been irritated and let them know on some occasions because I cannot accept unprofessionalism or trying to cheat someone. When you come from the West, a lot of people just see dollar signs and will lie about prices to get more from you. There is a lot to get used to here and I realize adjusting takes time. Maybe some of the things that upset me or that I get irritated by will be more normal in the future. We shall see. I really need that chill pill LOL
Hello, Theo. Thank you so much for your informative videos and this one in particular. I would like to mention a couple things: The impression I am getting from what you say about Rwandan’s staring and making remarks about people’s bodies or dress style, is that Rwandan’s are rude. I do not want to believe that, as I have heard that Rwandans are a friendly and humble people. I wondered if the off-putting comments are reserved for certain individuals. I understand the staring, especially when done to people they believe are not Rwandan or dress differently than they. But it makes me wonder and ask: do they behave the same way towards and in the presence of Mzungus/whites? I am planning to visit with the ultimate goal of committing myself and making Rwanda my second home. I have heard wonderful things about Rwanda and sense a “call” there and I am preparing for a difference in cultures and potential culture shock. But, I would be heartbroken if a people who look like me would treat me disrespectfully and rude. Because I cannot believe that that is part of Rwandan “culture”. To me, that is just plain RUDENESS, “thick skin” or not. 😔 I wish your girlfriend the best and that her very own people will begin to treat her more kindly and respectfully. 🙏🏽♥️
It is more made by ignorance than by dirsrespect. Like rwandan culture is conservative like in most african countries, people stare and judge because your apparence/energy/behaviour, the way you move is different and unknown to them.
Everything Theo's girlfriend said is absolutely correct. Some people get used to the staring but that's not me. I was 120lbs when I was there the last time, so people weren't staring at me because I was "fat" but because I also wore my hair very short (like Theo's girlfriend). My queer friends get stared at, my elderly mom gets stared at. If you're not from Rwanda (even if you're "Rwandan" like us), they'll find a reason to stare at you and say rude things straight to your face. Like Theo said, if that's the place you want to live, you can do it if you develop thick skin. I don't think it's the case eeverywhere in Africa. I think it's because it's a) a small country, b) a VERY conservative country, c) a VERY VERY conservative country, d) it's only been open to the world for 20-25 years, so my guess that in another 15-20 years, we'll see changes in how the local population relates to people who look different than what they're traditionnally used to.
@@theoisback hi!! So I am in Kigali since this morning and you were veryyyyyyyy right about the staring 😂😂😂waw. And an other thing : there are those who totally ignore you when you ask something. 😅 chill pill
Thanks Theo for all the great advice. I will be in Kiali for appx 5 weeks and then return for 10 days. YES RWANDA PEOPLE STARE. They even stare from across the street. AND THEIR CHILDREN STARE. LOL. Was standing in front of house with houseman waiting for a taxi. PEOPLE STARRED. When the taxi came two little kids and a grown man stopped to see what was going on. I felt like a traffic accident in the states. But I smiled all the time remembering what you said about RWANDANS STARE. Hope to meet you and your girlfriend while I am here. Also hope to hire you for some exercise training. BTW I have zoom so not to worry,
Good content! The body shaming part though is a turn off. Weak people are people who only focus on other people weaknesses. I think they need to have a broader view of humanity. See the diversity of God in creating different bodys. They should also try and see some good in everyone. They should get busy in minding there own bussiness, they are too available for small talks. They need to be cultured!
Hi Theo, I am Nigerian. I live in Ireland but my family stays in Nigeria. There is silent genocide going on against the Southeasterners (the Igbos) in Nigeria and my family is not safe. I am considering moving them to Kigali to stay temporarily until my application for family reunification is granted and they are able to join me. I am looking at July/August to move them. From videos I've watched, accommodation costs is on the high side and scary compared to Nigeria. How you can assist to make the movement less stressful. Thanks Nkemakolam Uche
Very informative 🙂. Your girlfriend is beautiful, sorry that she experienced that. Does Rwandan laws allow someone from outside the country to run a business there?
Lots of hills, your thing looks like it's more suited for flat lands, at least for the lambs, so idk how much of the rather flat land is available for new businesses, as theo said if you are really interested you can do a reconnaissance trip first, maybe the informations you are looking for can also be found on the internet I don't know.
@@theoisback What is amazing? Our Mother Earth is Amazing Everywhere. People make it impossible to withstand. Do you not realize they are treating you there, the same way Whites treated you in the US?Laughing....pointing .....ignoring......can't get a job....isn't this disrespect from what you are running away?
The only thing that matters is what GOD has to say about you! These people who talk about other people are insecure about themselves and in most cases they haven't done anything with their own lives.

I wish your girlfriend the best and that her very own people will begin to treat her more kindly and respectfully.
Chill Pill😊😍
yeahh
Can you do. Video of the type of business 10k USD can do that's lucrative ❤️ thanks
Wow. I beg your girlfriend to start her own channel just like you. She has talent.
I like the thick skin, hahaha

@@theoisback 😂😂😂 I know she will find out the comment by herself
Hello theo

Love yourself before you go there 📝 ok... mais after a few months they stop looking at you ... or you take chillpill don’t take anything personally ✅
yeah, the chill pill is the answer
BTW I have zoom so not to worry,
haha, interesting.
Yeah, im available just hit me up when you are in RWanda
I'm South African, how can I get married to a Rwandan woman,,?
Good content!
The body shaming part though is a turn off. Weak people are people who only focus on other people weaknesses. I think they need to have a broader view of humanity. See the diversity of God in creating different bodys. They should also try and see some good in everyone. They should get busy in minding there own bussiness, they are too available for small talks. They need to be cultured!
Thank you. A lot of they-they-they,.. only smart people know how to change other people. Wise people change themselves
How can l find a teachinh job . I hav a teaching degree
Hi Theo, Pls can you recommend any loctician for me in KIGALI ?
Nyamirambo!
@@theoisback okay thanks I will check it out .. Thanks again
I really want to move to Rwanda for business, but I'm curious how vibrant and business friendly the place might be and what to invest on ?
Hi Theo,
I am Nigerian.
Thanks
Nkemakolam Uche
Hi, I am not the right person to help you with this.
Hey brother I’m in Rwanda would love to meet you
heyy there
Very informative 🙂. Your girlfriend is beautiful, sorry that she experienced that. Does Rwandan laws allow someone from outside the country to run a business there?
yes, anyone can own and run a business here
Thank you! I want to talk about business and I have questions also
suree, What is it?
How is Agriculture ?? i am looking for production NON GMO meat especially poultry and lamb. to export. and some for local market.
Hmnn, interesting. Whenever you are ready, book a session and we can move on
Lots of hills, your thing looks like it's more suited for flat lands, at least for the lambs, so idk how much of the rather flat land is available for new businesses, as theo said if you are really interested you can do a reconnaissance trip first, maybe the informations you are looking for can also be found on the internet I don't know.
If you thinking exporting remember Rwanda is landlocked country
@@_sunfish all export will go to Tanzania or mombasa ports but come and visit
What do Rwandans think of tattoos? Will you be shunned because of tattoos or do they just judge you?
No, not at all
Rich Western countries, how did these countries become rich?????
you tell me!
So, my question is why are people staring ( looking) and being rude?
good question
Omg I am scared now because in America should would not be considered fat but normal size..
Why would I ever want to live there?
because it's amzing
@@theoisback What is amazing? Our Mother Earth is Amazing Everywhere. People make it impossible to withstand. Do you not realize they are treating you there, the same way Whites treated you in the US?Laughing....pointing .....ignoring......can't get a job....isn't this disrespect from what you are running away?
Hi are there any good opportunities for opening a restaurant
yes, many!
Hey man,
How are you doing?
How can I talk to you on phone ?
I really like this video,
Planning to move there.
I'm good.
Yes, you can book a one-on-one consultation, link in the description of video
Your girlfriend is beautiful so I don't understand why people are talking about 🤔. Oh well, probably jealousy.
Pop a chill pill 😂🤣😂🤣
LoL 😂
The only thing that matters is what GOD has to say about you! These people who talk about other people are insecure about themselves and in most cases they haven't done anything with their own lives.
what if you don't believe in god?
They say mean stuff but thy mean no deal its just like that. Staring at u or calling you fat is a compliment in Africa 😅😅😅😅😅
hahah, really though? even if it makes someone cry?
Wait... Your voice?? 😌😌😌
yeas..
Next time told them to mind their business.in kinyarwanda .mujye mureba ibibareba mwanjajwamwe mwabuze icyo mukora . they will stop.
yeah, they stop. But you have to repeat it with others again
This guy hardly laugh 😊
haha
You will be over charged at first...
for what?
