People joke about PTSD, but it's one of the most real things in life. Thank you for this great song and I encourage anyone who struggles with PTSD to find someone and talk to them.
Awesome song!! Been a Firefighter/EMT for almost 6 years and I wish I could forget some of the things I've seen and been through. Thoughts and prayers go out to all emergency services personnel. Thank you all for what you do everyday and I pray you go home at the end of every shift.
SoftballWarrior343 honestly, I feel like people like you should be given more credit, I mean, you risk your lives to keep us as safe as possible, or try your absolute hardest to keep us breathing. You don't even have to do it, but you do anyways, and have to suffer with countless amounts of horrid scenes of what's left in the aftermath. Then there's people that get upset you couldn't do 1/100 things right, it's just not right.
Joshua McLeod thank you Joshua for the kind words. I couldn't imagine doing anything else, even with all the bad stuff that comes along with the good. It's a humbling feeling to know that there are people like you who appreciate what emergency services personnel do everyday and try not to find a negative thing to say every chance they get. Thank you and stay safe. :)
***** well alot of people in my section of the city I live in are like this. See, last year an officer on duty sadly died when trying to catch a sexual offender that made multiple threats to a family. Many officers were out there, when suddenly a shot rang out, and an officer was fatally wounded. To commemorate his service, many people tied blue ribbons around road signs, fences, as well as man other things. It was all also put on a route that families would go through, to see how the city has suffered as well. They were set up for months until they froze then melted, causing them to break.
Im Glad that it gives EMT/Firefighters cause not all people would be able to help others!! I have seen lots of things in my life as I'm in the EMT circle and Firefighter, I'm Thankful that God helps me through the good and bad times!! Lord Bless all the EMT's and Firefighters 🙏🏼
One call undone it all.....To this day, i can still see her hair that was stuck to the headbed tape. Her mom's screams begging us to save her daughter still haunt me. I never imagined that our failed attempts to save an 8 year old would unlock the years of bad calls that i had ran. The nightmares from that night are forever burnt into my memory.
My husband was a firefighter and I know he has PTSD. He can recall almost every call that was tragic. He still smells smoke when nobody else does. Thank you for all of his brothers and sisters within the first responder service.
I've been an EMT and a police officer and wow this song really hit home. I've seen things that will stay with me until I pass, now my son is an officer and I pray every day I get in that car, " God please be with me my son and my brothers and sisters today. Help me to help those who can't help themselves, amen."
when I hear people talking crap about our emergency personal I'm like what if we didn't do it who would it's not cut out for everyone I just thank the Lord up above for letting us make it back home safe to our family's and giving us the strength to keep doing it. I love my small role in the firedepartment because I know at the end of the day I've done my best to help our community
this song gave me goosebumps. My fiance is a paramedic, and I have seen the haunted looks of the ones that were lost. She grieves for every one and still goes out everyday for the next one. Thank you to all of you out there that do what you do
Jeremy Scott I got injured on a structure fire about ten years ago now I just found out last year that I have PTSD. with all the crazy dreams, feeling like I was falling in my sleep I didn't say anything for the longest time until last year I had too, my wife already knew because of course I told her when I first noticed it several years ago but I was afraid of saying anything to my doctor.
Joe, just understand that you are not alone. There are many of us in that group. Don't be afraid to talk about it. Let the younger guys coming in, know what it can do. You can overcome it, I did.
22+ years of service. I didn't know the signs of PTSD until it was almost to late. Law, Fire, or EMS; we need watch for those health issues and suicidal signs and be ready to assist our brothers and sisters in their times of need.. Thank you Kevin, what a powerful song with an even more powerful message.
I remember when the paramedics came to me and took me to the hospital 2 weeks ago. I felt so blessed, secured and loved. They really made a difference in my life when I was so scared. God bless them all
22 years, volunteer Fire/EMS. you never forget the ones you couldn't save. The only comfort is knowing that in the end, you treated each and every one with caring, compassion and respect. The blank stare in the mirror when you get home, the images that play over and over in your mind. You hold on, and hold it in until the job is done. Sometimes it's hours, sometimes days or weeks, but it always hits you. Every loss leaves a scar.
This song and video speaks to all first responders, including law enforcement officers. Many of them silently struggle alone, in the dark of night, with the unforgettable images that play over and over in their minds. PTSD is real and it is ugly. Unfortunately many departments in the States are still stuck in the dark ages and expect them to just "suck it up" and if they cannot they are tossed out like yesterday's news. We are working to raise the awareness that it is time for change and the message portrayed in this video will help.
I love this song. I know where he's coming from. First responders go through a lot. so I just wanna say thank you to my brothers and sisters out there.
I love this song. I wanna be a paramedic later on. But my ultimate goal is a flight nurse and I've heard about the things you see and you can't unsee them. Great song and thanks to all the paramedics, fireman, and dispatch workers, and police for all you do.
Hey guys, Been a Paramedic for 10 years now, You brought all the pain I feel out, Thank you for this, tears in my eyes, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you
I have been a Coroner for the past five years and involved in trauma all my life. Thank you for this great song that we can all identify with. I am proud and honoured to work with all the responders . The professionalism and selfless teamwork shown at every scene is always inspiring.
thank you Kevin, you have said what most of us feel all the time.I became an EMT at 17 and had to walk away when I was 19 and I still close my eyes and remember why I did.I became a firefighter that same year as a firefighter/ medic for 19years combined I am constantly haunted by those visions that you can't shake but somehow we keep going on to the next call because it's who we are Not just what we do. I wouldn't trade it for the world. this is an incredible song. thank you so much. Assistant Chief Craig Morris 38-2 Woodridge F.D. Woodridge N. Y.
as a first responder here in Ohio this song really hits close to home the things we deal with makes everyday life a struggle but we always get back on the truck thank you for wrighting this song
Well done Kevin. I was a firefighter for 31 years in Burnaby B.C. Born and raised in Halifax. My uncle ( Dave Furlotte) had a farm in Kentville. I was involved in O.H.& S most of my career . The more we talk about Post-traumatic stress , will result in first responders seeking out help more easily.
Makes me cry mostly because this was my grampys favorite song and he would play his harmonica with him. witch is the reason Kevin Davison played at his funeral.
Awesome song, nicely done. I am a former volunteer firefighter of 13 years in NJ. Had to step away due to serious health issues. I still stop and help at accidents and incidents if there is no one on scene yet. No greater love than a man willing to lay his life on the line for others. Once a firefighter, always a firefighter. Be safe brother.
Kevin..to us you are superheroes! Thank you for the work you do and this beautiful song and video. I hope it circles the globe and raises awareness for PTSD and any other work place injuries First Responders experience..that must include so many other physical injuries as well. We have a retired fireman friend, whose lungs are badly compromised. May God Bless and keep each of you safe today and everyday. When I hear a siren off in the distance I always say a little prayer...
I wanna give a shout out to the best firefighter I know. You know who you are, thank you for making the world a better place. I love you man. You're amazing I appreciate everything you do.
Somethings never go far from the memory. Those that have never done don't understand.. those that do, too few admit what happens when they lay down to sleep. God Bless
So proud to be able to say that this amazing guy is one of my friends and my brother in the fire service. Such an awesome song and and the video is amazing!. Definitely hits home. Awesome job Kevin Davison
All I can say is Thank You. I am a Volunteer Firefighter in a small town. This hits home and is so true. To all my brothers and sisters whether in the fire service EMS or Law Enforcement stay safe out there.
I've been a volunteer firefighter for a year and a half. I'm only 19 and I have a mild form of PTSD and survival guilt. I do the same things in the video. The nightmares and the staring. I guess I need people to talk to.
God Bless you. Beautiful song and voice. May God grant serenity and peace to all that do your job. I'm an ER/ICU nurse and have nothing but respect for you all.
Nice Job Brother.... I say AMEN and 37 years so far, plenty of those memories that will always be there with me. I am thankful for CISD, but reading more and more about our Brothers and Sisters taking their lives each day. I believe the number is 11 each day. That is 11 each day too many. Stay healthy and stay safe everyone!
The song is awesome, it makes me realize after 16 yr. as an EMT,I haven't really faced all the tragic things that have happened. Just listening to the words makes the mind wander back to the bad unforgettable calls. It was a pleasure to meet you last weekend in Alexandria Bay. Your seminar made me feel that I am not in this alone. Thanks again...
I can't imagine how horrible that was. I hope you have a strong circle of support around you; no one should have to face such sadness alone. Sending warm thoughts your way
Great song!! Really hitting close to home as a firefighter first responder on 2 departments.. man the things I've seen that I wish I could unseen, brought tears to my eyes when I heard this song. Here's to all firefighters, first responders out there!
after 10 years as a volunteer firefighter and being around it all my life. I have seen the good the bad and the ugly side of all of this. after 5 years of doing it myself I was diagnosed with ptsd and depression from seeing alot of stuff happening. this stuff alot people laugh about but it's the families at home that no body see that hurts the most. always go home and hug your family no matter how mad you left at them.
Volunteer firefighter for 7 years, just want to say thank you for the song. Fire, EMS, Law enforcement, we all see things we wish we could unsee. This is great song and video.
been a firefighter since 08 and a jr before that this song cuts so deep that it brings tears great song to explain some of the pain God bless my brothers and sisters stay low alert and safe
I'd have called the song "when those sirens are gone" but it is an awesome song and I want to say thank you to all the Firefighters, Paramedics and Police Officers out there. Y'all do a great job to keep us safe. May god bless you
I'm so happy that I came across this.. it may have made me cry and relive the couple of moments I can't forget, but sometimes we need to remember those scars.
Thank you for your service and all the other first responders my fiancé was a fire caption for the Susanville ca fire department I am going to play this tomorrow when he comes to see me thank you amazing song
Volunteer or career, it doesn't matter what you do. Once you put that gear this song explain everything that happens during and the end of the call. Thank you my brother for writing this song. And to all first responders be safe.
Kevin- This song is hits home for EMS/FIRE family members. I hope this song is heard by citizens in each community we serve. To have those who do not understand what we actually go through on a daily basis are able to finally understand. It brought tears to my eyes...... Thank-you for this song from the heart. Please keep it going.
man, this song really tugs at my heart strings, because when I was just seventeen years old I was the first person on the scene of a hit and run accident that happened in front of my Grand Parents house, in Western Shore Nova Scotia, this accident would some nine hours later claim her life, I can still tell you every detail of what happened from start to finish, and that my friends was in nineteen eighty. R.I.P. Aunt Kate
great song I was volunteer emt for 3 years after losing a 4 month old baby on July 4th that holiday will never be the same I still can't get the look of that mother's face when we told her there's nothing more we can do and now I have a baby of my own on my way great song keep up the work wish I could help but I am struggling with money and car repairs
Kevin, your song is not only amazing, but your video is perfect too! I am very impressed also that you included one of our local fire departments, your beautiful wife and children! Love it all, and you too! xo
been a volunteer firefighter for four years now and still going strong this song says what we as firefighters go through on a daily basis, I love my job, I love being a firefighter, we just had a call today for a car off the road on the interstate, turned out to be a fatal car crash
One amazing song that brings tears to my eyes every time, Kevin tells a story about how much our first responders go through, way to go Kev, you make the valley proud with your work, keep it up 😊
Awesome song. 23 years as a volunteer with the State Emergency Service here in Australia last 6 years as a Rescue Operator. there are things I wish i could unsee.
Amazing... Was a pleasure to hear you speak at the Gala. This song translates to all the services... and to us in Communications as well ... Thank you.
Fantasic. I've been 25 years and two divorces. Last one said PTSD can only happen to military people. Nothing I or councilors could convince her otherwise. She just thinks I'm an asshole. Been close a couple of times. Ok now
Roger M I'm so sorry you had an incompetent counselor. Yes, anyone can have PTSD. My sons were in a "freak accident" years ago when they were 11 and 12 years old. A signal cannon,on a boat, was left loaded and shot one and barely missed the other. My husband, stopped the bleeding, the youngest was in shock, the oldest..fought to survive. Each of us..20 years later...have our own triggers. The youngest now almost 40 can't walk into the front doors of a hospital..without nearly fainting. It took me years to not relive the the events every time I heard a siren, off in the distance. My husband can't talk about it..and the..you get the picture..that's just from one event. First responders? Countless horrible scenarios... that live in their memories.... Roger..I'm glad you are doing well now.. Your counselor was misinformed! This is a beautiful song and video.. Thank you for the work you do...
Love this song, I'm a student paramedic in the UK just about to go out on placement! Very nervous but excited! My thoughts go out to all emergency service personnel worldwide.
Great song Kevin, let me share a FB post from yesterday I sent to one of our young EMTs after we had worked a crash with 3 children dead...Cory, I've been doing trauma for 25 years and it does not get any easier. You just cannot unsee what you have seen and experienced. But, you can, and should, pray for these patients in the moment. That simple thing, offering the situation up to the Lord will ultimately help you not only totally own it(and do your best work) but also let you release it. So it does not play in your head at night. .....so I hope this helps
Been a firefighter for 24yrs and now I'm out if it, due to back problems. I sure miss it, and wish i could still do it once a firefighter always a firefighter!!!!
Kevin this awesome , I showed my parents and we all cried, it was very well done, we are so proud if you, it really does show dreams do come true , congratulations ❤❤😊😊
What a beautiful song! I really can't find the right words to say what I am feeling when I listened to this. So I 'm just going to say "Thank you Kevin Davidson"
It doesn't matter if you wear a fire or paramedic uniform, it hits close to home. 22 years for me. Thank you from Sussex NB

Amazing... Was a pleasure to hear you speak at the Gala. This song translates to all the services... and to us in Communications as well ... Thank you.
Thank you so much.
I work for Westpac Lifeline Heli Rescue. This song hit home for me.
Thank you for this, Brother. From Stony Point VFD in Kentucky.
Fantasic. I've been 25 years and two divorces. Last one said PTSD can only happen to military people. Nothing I or councilors could convince her otherwise. She just thinks I'm an asshole. Been close a couple of times. Ok now
Roger M anyone can get PTSD
After 2 years it does wear on you..Sights, smells, noises. Thanks for this video
My son is a firefighter and he sees this. God bless you and Thank you.
Love this song, I'm a student paramedic in the UK just about to go out on placement! Very nervous but excited! My thoughts go out to all emergency service personnel worldwide.

Been a firefighter for 15 years. This song hit home and gave me chill bumps.
Words can't expressed how powerful this song is and how truly its message resonates.
Thank for this I was a local ems provider I also did search and rescue for a while and Soon I'm joining the military to be a medic
That's terrible. It is never easy, but kids makes it so much harder!! Been there and feel the pain of the first responders!
Been a firefighter for 24yrs and now I'm out if it, due to back problems. I sure miss it, and wish i could still do it once a firefighter always a firefighter!!!!
