Actually, Jim Stafford had his own T.V. show in 1976. This looks like it's from the Jim Stafford Show. (I used to watch it as a kid, it was a great variety show, kind of like The Sonny and Cher Show and The Flip Wilson Show.)
Still listening to this in 2024 at age 63...classics never end....they just better as they age...I would rather listen to the music from the 50s to the 70s Best music ever written....❤
August 2024 and I am out fixing my shed and I started singing it to myself. Hadn’t heard it in years and found this on you tube. Made my day. Always loved Dolly and Jim was hitting it big at the time. This was on my car radio every day. Love to time travel.
Australian AM Radio played " I Don't Like Spiders & Snakes " by Jim Stafford on high rotation in 1973. I was only 12 yrs old and just thought it was a great song, I liked the music and thought the lyrics were very funny. Until today, I didn't know that Jim was a comedian. I thought he was a Country music star. Oh man he is hilarious first and then a musician. I am now a big fan of his comedy. I've checked out his many other You Tubes and the man is brilliant.
Jim Stafford's silliness is adorable...and Dolly is well...so adorable. I love how they were just winging it. Sooo sweet!!!!! Miss those sweet times....
I love Dolly... Always loved her voice, beautiful, kinda innocent but very flotatious, is that a word!! Jim is awsome!! Great times!!! Times where you could let the mind wonder and imagine... simple times!
That Jim Stafford is one hell of a talented man just love him and imagine if he was your best friend and you get to hang out with him all the time what a trip it would be

I Love These Awesome Performances and this Awesome Video!
Just saw Dolly on Fox & Friends this morning Aug. 23, 2016 . Had to come back for a taste of one of my Favs . Jim always loved this song & adding Dolly made it that much more awesome . Makes me smile even when I`ve had the most crappy day . God Bless You Both !
Jim, I have always loved your humor and your songs were great to listen to. I have only one regret and that is to never have seen you live somewhere. Thanks for posting.
I can remember when Porter Wagner acted like he owned Dolly . he DID NOT want to let her go on her own . Dolly has been a sweet heart to many of us . she is a very beautiful & entertaining lady .
I remember in the 5th grade, around 1976-1977, when this song was popular, our teacher would let us listen to records on Fridays after lunch, but she wouldn't let us play this song, because she said it was "nasty"! Of course, that just made us want to hear it even more, because we had no idea what she meant! lol
It looks like they neglected rehearsals for this, and I feel like it was a good decision. It really added to the charm. They seem to have real chemistry too.
I was 19 and stationed at Pearl Harbor the first time I heard this one on the radio. I loved everything Jim Stafford did. This one, and the Wildwood weed, and the Mr Bojangles, long version.
At SpenceManorHotel,I met a fancy lady ,and a country gentleman, when I was working at the Hotel.Wonderful Country RecordingArtists stayed at the hotel, and I loved working there, and meeting the Celebs . Eric R.Carter-ThankYou, Michael Spence,of Spence Manor and Condos.
One of the greatest recording artist I was graced to know was Mr.KennyRogers.I came to work one day ,and was asked to take Mr.KennyRogers clothes to his Hotel Room.I loved working atSpenceManor ,OnMusicRow,near Broadway and downtown Nashville,Tenn.
Oh my laaaawd! The memories this clip has brought back. Mr Stafford...you are a genius. Okay, okay, maybe that's stretching it a bit.... but thanks for making me laugh and sing along..many, many times.
Just found this video love the song the guy &Dolly perfect combo that’s when entertainment was entertaining no political B S just entertaining xoxo to both of them great work
"I wanna be loved by ya, Dolly, I wanna be loved by ya! Don't do this ta me Dolly, don't smack me with yer sucker!" ROFL She's so funny. No matter what she does, she cracks me up so hard.
Yeah she was an absolute doll back then. I remember the show but I was too young at the time to appreciate how cute Dolly really was. It's no wonder Porter didn't want to let her go.
So cool to see this! I remember watching it as a kid on the big old twenty five inch RCA we had when it aired originally, lol. And I must say, Lee jeans had a real strong stitching in the crotch, because seeing Dolly in that outfit surely induced some strain on that region!
I love ya Jim Stafford. I had an autographed photo of you in the 70's it was my prized possesion. Wish I still had it bc I like you just as much now as then 😎
Grew up in the same neck of the woods as Dolly. She got her start on the Cas Walker's Sunday morning program there in Knoxville and I think she sang on the Reverend and Mrs Mull's gospel hour, before she got the call to go to Nashville.
Guess I'm a few years late, here! Had to look up Jim Stafford (cuz I LOVED him!) but I found it hard to believe that the girl was Dolly!! I googled it, and sure enough! But then I HAD to know how old she was there; 14? 16? No.... 27! She did have a little girl voice there, as others have commented, and it was sweet, but a few times I heard that unmistakable little 'warble' in her voice. Cutest video ever!
wow when in the world did this come out? I dont recall it but oh my goodness was this soooo cute...I remeber the song but never remeber seeing that video. Great job thanks so much for putting this on its gonna be one of my favs! :)
All you folks that wanna go back to the '80s? Keep 'em! I'd rather go back to this anytime. I've lived through both, and let me tell ya, the two DO NOT compare.
love lil dolly dimples!!! :D think it's the only time dolly wears flats hehe.... thanks for sharing - this is one of my favourite songs from the 70s dolly show series
Rode the school bus that co-writer David Bellamy's mother drove. She would stop the bus every time this came on the radio. Francis was a proud mama David became a star in his own right, as 1/2 of the Bellamy Brothers, and they are still out there performing.
Watching this in October 2022 and loving it!! They're so cute together! I just turned 73 and sure miss the old time shows like this.
I just turned 57 and i nuts these shows so much. Thankfully we have RUclips
This song takes me back to 1974. I was 12. It was one of my favorites. It still makes me smile
_Vertical smile as long as a mile_
How can you not raise a smile watching this?!
I get angry. Remember... she's representing a child. Sounds like grooming to me.
IN OUR FACES!!
This is from Dolly's show in 1976, for anyone who cares. It's adorable!
Yeah, I was 13 when this song came out. I liked it then, and for some reason it popped in my head the other day. Great lyrics. Great tune.
I care!
Thanks for posting!
Don't know why they keep labeling things as Branson when they aren't

We are lucky... except for this grooming part
August 2024 and I am out fixing my shed and I started singing it to myself. Hadn’t heard it in years and found this on you tube. Made my day. Always loved Dolly and Jim was hitting it big at the time. This was on my car radio every day. Love to time travel.

They weren't winging it. Dolly was representing a child, and he got sexual with her and her back to him. The grooming was intentional. We were asleep.
This shows how funny and talented both of these folks are.
This song was written by Jim & David Bellamy of the Bellamy Brothers in 1974, and became a top ten in both country & rock 100. 🎶👍
She´s the cutest thing I´ve ever seen and she proves it again and again. She´s such a girly girl^^ So adorable and sooo beautiful!!!
There is electricity between Jim and Dolly, and it makes Spiders & Snakes romantic!
I love Dolly...
Always loved her voice, beautiful, kinda innocent but very flotatious, is that a word!!
Jim is awsome!!
Great times!!! Times where you could let the mind wonder and imagine... simple times!
I love this song! Dolly and Jim did a great job performing it. Very nice!

Haha. Hope she's still alive so she can see what nasty REALLY is.
I absolutely love this. I miss all of these
It definitely works as a duet, nearly missed cues and all. Love it!
It looks like they neglected rehearsals for this, and I feel like it was a good decision. It really added to the charm. They seem to have real chemistry too.
I'm not seeing missed rehearsals with this.
@@sherrybirchall8677
I agree. They're a couple of pros, and they can make it look improvised - I suspect it was well-rehearsed!
better than a polished product.
What a classic!!!
Love It!!!
I miss the wholesome America. Innocent and sweet.
I recently found this looking for that song, and what a feel good it is.

61 baby, and I agree, the world has changed drastically
This is charming. I don't remember Dolly being so beautiful.
kirvesmies:
Where have you been since 1946?
It's that dress and thigh stockings, pow!!, burn it up
70's seemed so innocent, so silly, so cool.
The 70's were the best !
I miss the Seventies.
... and Country music is still the only genre that makes sense. Just my personal opinion
If u were white yes.
I assure you, it wasn't all innocent xD
Love this
Still remember this classic, a Monster Hit for Jimbo. Got him his own show for a spell.
And Dolly is adorable.
I was 19 and stationed at Pearl Harbor the first time I heard this one on the radio. I loved everything Jim Stafford did. This one, and the Wildwood weed, and the Mr Bojangles, long version.
I've never seen this version. Thanks for posting, Jim. I still remember your bits on the 70s Smothers Brothers show!
I love Dolly Pardon and this song and I still have my pride.
Please take me back to those days!

Great times growing up and sometimes Even Showing Up...oh, and that sweet innocent 😇 sounding voice of Dolly...🤔🤗
There ain't nothin' innocent about Dolly in this video.
That's the cutest thing ever... lol
Yeah she was an absolute doll back then. I remember the show but I was too young at the time to appreciate how cute Dolly really was. It's no wonder Porter didn't want to let her go.

I just googled Jim Stafford, and He is still alive!! I wonder if he ever remembers the songs I did when he was young? :)
He performs in Branson, MO at his theater now... or until Covid anyway 😳🙄
Why can't things be simply sweet and funny like this anymore? I was just a kid when this aired, but I remember it so well.
It wasn't sweet and funny.
I love ya Jim Stafford. I had an autographed photo of you in the 70's it was my prized possesion. Wish I still had it bc I like you just as much now as then 😎
