    You have line in (hot) and line out identified. At the wall however we see only two black and they aren't labelled line and load. Other videos say that it doesn't matter which way they are connected. On a LED dimmer however, is this still the case. In other words... in future videos can I suggest addressing this central question.

    In my situation, I have 14/3 wires, unlike your 14/2 wires, for Line-In (Black, White, Red, and Ground copper). It is not a 3-way situation, so the red wire with the flag stays unused in my case. Since I do not have a ceiling fan for the red wire, I capped the red wire in the Line In. This might help others who are dealing with a 14/3 Line-In wire situation while installing the same dimmer.

    Thanks for this. I do have a reassurance question though lol.
    My box has 4 black wires. 3 white neutral wires, and 3 bare copper wires. Home was built in '98. There was no ground wire connected to the original light switch. Just 2 of the 4 black wires; which are connected at the bottom, and the top.
    I'm installing a new LED recessed light from Commercial Electric; with a Lutron CL Dimmer LED switch ( DVWCL - 153PH - WH ). There are 4 wires on the new LED switch. Black. Red. Green. Red & White which I have capped off, because I'm not using it as a three-way from 2 separate locations. My question is would I leave the 3 White Neutral wires alone, and connect the green wire from the switch to 1 of the bare copper wires or all 3? Black from switch to black Line in, and Red wire from switch to black Load out wire?
    Hope this makes sense, and any help would be appreciated.

    Nice demo. Quick question: Our house was built in the ‘50’s and most of the wiring is updated but some of the circuits contain older wiring in some of the wall boxes/outlets. So, I have a dimmer to install with the exact same wiring scheme but there is no neutral with the ‘line in’. In that case, what does the white/neutral/‘line out’ wire connect to if there is no white/neutral for the ‘line in’? Thanks.

    Whomever wired my house seems to have used romex as an extension from the light switch, presumably running to a junction box where it is in the orientation you'd demonstrated here. To your knowledge, is there a name for this technique? Also, one of my switches has a black, red, green, and a white. Considering my setup, do I need the white or can I just cap it off on it's own?

    I know this is an old video but I am not sure where to turn. Scenario I am trying to fix. I have new LED ceiling lights and 3 switch locations IE:outside master bedroom, outside spare bedroom and at the bottom of the stairs. I purchased a digital dimmer but dimmer and light only functions from that switch. If that switch is "Off" the other switches no longer control the light. House wiring only has Single Pole wiring. Can I wire this in a way to have the old system and dimmer? Dimmer is fine in one location but the switch controls all power to new circuit now.

  • @froglobster
    @froglobster 8 месяцев назад

    Hello, I did this step exactly.
    My project is 4 under cabinet led kitchen puck lights. They are 2 wire, black and white , each wire set runs through the wall individually towards an area for a junction box.
    So I did join my hot black( from red wire dimmer as per your vid) up into a j box area to meet my 4 in wall led puck light wires.
    As the puck lights are only 2 wire, ( black and white), I figure join black line in to the 4 black loads out. But to make this happen, what do I connect the 4 led white wires to?
    I lust the dimmer instructions and yes this is for a single pole application
    What do I join to the white wires coming off the puck light wiring?
