  • A former Royal Marine who lived a secret life, making bombs for Irish republican terror groups, has been jailed for eighteen years.
Ciaran Maxwell built arms dumps across England and Northern Ireland to hide mines, mortars and pipe-bombs - he was arrested after members of the public stumbled across them.
Sentencing him today, the judge said Ciaran Maxwell was motivated by a hostility towards the United Kingdom, and that he'd betrayed his position in the armed forces.
