Sorry to be so off topic but does anyone know a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I would love any tricks you can give me
I've been listening to this video for 10-15 mins a day while I do PT for my hip FAI and Labrum repair surgery. I have to say this is some of the best content out there for competitive lifters to listen too, I wish I heard this 3 years ago when I was pushing through so much pain because I thought that was just the way it had to be if you wanted to be strong. Its motivating to hear such successful guys talk realistically about staying healthy and focusing on getting healthier.
This episode goes straight into my "important" folder. So many nuggets to be collected from this one, *especially* (perhaps ironically) for young people. Right at the end, for example, on the topic of motivation, concisely summarized with "it's about the execution". It's such a simple concept, but yet where 99% of people fail in any pursuit, not just fitness. People are quick to make up big dreams and set high goals but think that they can rely on "motivation" alone to accomplish this. In my experience, motivation is largely a consequence of adherence and execution, not the other way around. Big thumbs up!
Mark, I want to say thank you for having people like Stan Efferding on your show. This kind of practical advice is priceless. I had some blood work done recently (after listening to your and Stan's advice), could you or Stan advise on supplementation for lowering cholesterol (I am doing my walks, interval training, lifting and Keto diet)? Any advise is much appreciated.
I really don't know why the supertraining channel doesn't have at least 1 million subs. I mean its worth it for the powercast alone, not to mention all the other stuff this channel has to offer and the huge amount of high quality guests. I've been subbed for a good 4+ years now with no desire to leave.
i also have both of those books, great read. i injured myself once but successfully recovered, thanks to book i understand injury mechanisms itself more, and im sure it will lead to better longetevity
I was having serious knee tendinitis when I was 39 ( 55 now ) and with a Doctor I did a 12 week Test and Deca cycle and that stopped it in its tracks. To this day I squat and no problems. I go heavy ( wrap my knees when doing heavy one reps ) Just my experience
21:29 - And mine is the "Short Stop Squat" (run hands down the thighs to the knees) per Stuart McGill's "Back Mechanic" using body weight of course. Hinge at the hips, also helps the low back. Highly recommend the book.
With Stan being on a dose of steroids massively exceeding a natural man his age, and to be honest probably massively exceeding a man at any age, he would have a lot more red blood cells than a normal person. After all, most steroids were initially created to treat different anemias as well as muscle wasting. So the question is, I wonder if this would be as effective for a natural 50 year old or 60 year with a lot of pain, who perhaps smokes and doesn't eat or sleep as well as Stan, and isn't on HGH and a few steroids. Ie someone who's blood is of far poorer quality than Stan's, seeing as how his method of helping himself revolved around getting increased amounts of blood to the affected tissues. I'm sure it would help to some degree, but I wonder if it would eliminate the problem entirely in a lot of other older people too.
Stop smoking, eating shit food, and staying up watching television (get to sleep). Jesus, dude...it has nothing to do with steroids. Stop making excuses.
Thanks for the info in this video! I’m dealing with similar issues (knee related) as we speak and I’ll gladly take Stan’s advice - the guy’s a fuckin legend!
I had that and it was confirmed tendonosis, not tendonitis. Exact symptoms. a tear that just never healed. it was inbetween healing and degrading. Arthroscopic knee surgery and now its good
Just finished listening and wondered if you have tried a finnish invention sauvakävely = walking with sticks? You walk with similar sticks that cross country skiers use. It activates your upper body and makes your stride longer. Looks a bit silly, but it is really good.
Very interesting info. One thing, don’t expect positive results if you use PRP, stem cell therapy etc and you continue to work through the post injection recovery period. Biologics are not like an injection of steroids and HA into an inflamed joint which reduces inflammation within a week. Biologics take time. Time to reduce inflammation and build a matrix. This takes weeks and rest is paramount. Yes, it means losing time in the gym, but the goal is longevity. You want to be able to stay in the gym, that’s the entire point.
What did Stan do for his bulging disc wasn't it??? curious because a friend has bulging disc and they don't want him to squat or deadlift ever again... lol.. they always say that
try millet folx. besides oats highest silica content. silica->connec. tissue...joint health goes through roof. try and c urself. horsetail highest, but cant eat :) standard millet flakes powo shake with acerola here...

Try walking for like 30 minutes a day. That coupled with deadlifts eliminated my back problems but the second of those options is almost definitely not an option for you.
Stan is wrong about yoga. Dorian Yates has been doing yoga to heal his body. I had a stroke about 6 years ago and had to relearn how to walk. Bikram Yoga helped me regain my balance
Whats gets me, is every guy with big, or bigger muscles than most, just goes into the gym and puts a weight on and lifts it ??? Lets just say you did 5 sets of 15 reps for triceps on four exercises, HOW, do you know how much weight to put on for each set ??? Wayne
Wayne Rowley You need to find out your strength capabilities....and once you have an understanding of how much weight you can lift, from there it’s just a matter of warming up your muscle with a warm up set then 1-3 working sets (maximum/near maximum output)..............to lift to failure or not is dependent on your goals. Then one set to cool down if you like although some credible/successful lifters do not....but my best advice is to not overthink it. Get a partner at least to find out how strong you are per each lift and SAFELY test yourself to see where you’re at. Always a helpful idea is to find a pro’s book/routine and mimic it. They’re pros for a reason. If ya wanna powerlift mimic one....bodybuilding? Mimic them.....etc.
Stan refilling the water bottles and being proud of it really lowers my opinion of him. You've got this guy who preaches that you need to mind what's going into your body, eats only prime organic steaks, ect, and here he has employees who is is responsible for, who trust him and depend on him as an employer, and not only is he lying to their faces about the water he's giving them, he's making a bad choice seem like a good one so that people who want to be mindful of their health can't and are deceived. Water isn't expensive and it isn't a luxury, it's basically a right, and he denied that right to his employees, lied about it, and now wears is as a badge of honour. Stan's not so cheap when it comes to nutritious food for his own body. What if the people who sell Stan his beef switched out all of his beloved organic grass fed steaks with a year's supply of hormone and antibiotic infused, feed lot, Monsanto pesticide corn fed steaks and then told him they were organic free range grass fed. How would he feel about that. What a disgrace with zero empathy for his employees. It shows you the character of a man. He probably spent more on gas driving out and back each night than he saved on the water. That's fucking fraud.
He says nothing about insulin that isn't true... nutrition advice for athletes is not the same for your average person who works a 9-5 and watches tv for 5 hours when they get home.
A couple reasons really. Standing desks are good for you, at least some of the time. People speak more clearly and project better, especially people who are not professionals at speaking, when standing. Some days, though, I wouldn't mind sitting down.
I'm wondering: is Stan still taking steroids? Or was he able to recover to do such heavy lifts just because he build his muscles in the past with steroids?
Stan is an amazing dude. Met him last year at the Arnold and he was as gracious and kind as he seems on his video. Wonderful dude and an inspiration!!
I could never get tired of hearing Stan talk. Wish he would start his own podcast or become a semi-permanent host on the Power Cast
I think there is a vertical podcast
I am a simple person. I see Stan Efferding I like it.

A 1hr 30min video? Alright, time to bring out the popcorn.
I need something to keep my drink cool and keep my pre and post workout shake in.
Donald Pump do you care about anything being icecold?
Man, I need to have a poor and post workout shake... If only I had some way to carry them
Great show - agree with Mark, we need a Stan Efferding book.

Stan is actually better when he is talking alone, because he doesn't get distracted for no reason at all when he is sharing knowledge.
Always great when Stan is on 💪🏼
Happy 50th stan. My 50th is just 5 months away. 50 more will be easy.
Stan always brings the best content.
Just worth noting, BB.com no longer offers free plans so you might want to update the sponsor slot.

I wish Mark would stop interrupting Stan. There’s many times where Stan is still talking softly while Mark’s jumping in.
