Happy New Year and thanks for watching! I've got big plans for this channel this year so please consider subscribing for more epic bikepacking adventures from around the world! Thanks! :D
Hello, I enjoyed your video! I'm from Scotts Valley and cycle this region. It seems that you would have better to follow the beautiful cycle paths along the various reservoirs along the Route 280 corridor. That would take you along the ridge to Woodside and then climb a quiet mountain road to Hwy 35 to reach Black Mountain. Always good to check Starva or Ride with GPS to find the best route options. I'm glad you enjoyed the beautiful cycling in our area. There is plenty more to enjoy. Cheers! JahWind Channel
Cheers for the tips mate! I’ll be coming back to Santa Cruz in 2024 so I’ll check it out 👍
HEY ! I have the Hornet 2p tent love it , awesome trip .
It’s a cracking tent! Cheers mate
I ride to the Sweeney Ridge from my house in Millbrae. When you found yourself on the highway, I bet it was briefly on 280 from Skyline. My grandfather was from Edinburgh so when I moved to the Bay Area, I too noticed Scotts Valley and Ben Lomond. The mascot of the high school in Belmont is The Scots as well. Oh yeah, I LOVE your videos. I always feel for you and your double-backing to pick up your camera after you’ve filmed yourself riding in a clip.
That’s awesome! It’s such a great place for trail riding. Will be back in California in March for some more fun! Thanks very much for watching and commenting :)
I was born and grew up in Santa Cruz and I never really made a Scottish connection to Scott's valley until now lol but I love and miss that eara left in 2000 .
Haha it may be a load of rubbish but it made sense to me at the time! It’s a lovely place to grow up. You’re very lucky!
Brilliant work. well done.
Thanks Rick!
Man, you're in good shape! You're making it up those ascents at a very good, healthy pace! 👍 And, really nice job with the video and drone footage.
Thanks! Certainly not in the shape I used to be in 😂 thanks for watching
Your film productions really are getting better & better Mr 366 - & loving the piano music too - very fitting to your productions. There is something, i don't know - honest & real i guess about type trips/documentary's that strikes a chord.
PS - wishing you and livestock a happy new year.
Thanks very much! Keep trying to get better each time so that’s good to hear haha. Thanks and same to you!
Brilliant ❤ one of my most favorite areas in all the world. SF, to Santa Cruz, to Big Sur, down to Santa Barbara ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks! It’s a beautiful part of the world :)
Fantastic adventure. What beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing
Cheers Shawn! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Love the peaceful bikepacking inspiration
Thanks very much!
Great video again Tom. They seem to get better each time and it's amazing to watch your HQ videos - I can really tell you've invested a lot in your photo equipment as the films seem to get better each time as does your editing and narrated summary at the end.
All the best for 2023!
Thanks mate! Should be even better next month. Got a new drone and new go pro 😂
Great channel, first video watched. I was wondering why the Tea??? But then I watched the later part of the video and it all made sense 😄
Can’t beat a bit of Yorkshire Tea 😉
@@Cycling366 Taylors full Assam for me my friend!
As usual another professionally put together video.
Keep up the good work and can't wait for the next one.
Cheers Sven! Got next months will be a winter special so stay tuned!
That was very artistic and beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to film it, edit it, and share it.
Thanks! And thank you for watching and commenting :)
Super Tom. Great to see you branching out!
Thanks Jen!
Another great video a very enjoyable watch. Many thanks and a happy new year.
Thanks Neil and same to you!
Great film! Sounds like a proper adventure!
Thanks! It was a great trip :)
Enjoyed your films for a while now and this was probably one of your best. Happy new year pal
Cheers Graham! Appreciate it and happy new year to you as well.
Lovely video, really enjoyed it. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains I thought your perspective on the Scottish heritage was pretty wild. And good old Masood, he used to run the corner store down from my house, lol, crazy.
Thanks! Haha that’s amazing. I think I’m partly right. Some places are named by a Scot who moved over in the 1800s but Scott’s valley is a different story apparently!
I am from the Bay Area and always want to do this. What tent do you recommend? Did you encounter any wild animals?
You can see all the gear I use on my website in the video description! Yes som coyotes and deer but nothing worse than that! I think mountain lions are pretty rare!
Great video! You might want to check out Henry Coe Park. Lots of land and a few small ponds.
Thanks very much! Yes I did look at that actually and that was the plan before the locked gate :)
Great filming my friend! Greetings from Austria 👋🏼
Thanks very much! Happy new year!
Really enjoyed watching your adventure in the mountains, shame about that locked gate😅
Thanks very much! Yeah was looking forward to camping in the redwood forest but that’s bikepacking!
Awesome, I moved from Scotland to the US in 1999 and I now live in Scotts Valley. I think it’s called that after the last name of the guy that founded the town, just a coincidence that there are also a lot of local place names based on Scottish ones 😂. Next time you’re in the area let me know, big fan of your channel, love the Hebridean way btw - fantastic 👍
Cheers mate! Very jealous. Ahh I ran into a Scottish woman who’d done the same and she told me that’s why it was called Scott’s Valley but maybe she didn’t know what she was on about!
Looks great but if I might offer some constructive criticism (only my 2 cents worth). I would like to see a bit more of a narrative and some more pieces to camera explaining how the route is, what trials and tribulations you faced on the route etc. As fantastic as the scenery is I personally feel like watching you wafting serenely through a fantastic landscape only holds my interest for so long before I have scenery overload. Keep up the great work and hope the trip was as fantastic as it looks.
Thanks mate. I have a whole 10 minutes of running through the route and what happened etc at the end of the film!
Watch the whole film. Tom always does a talk through after, plus the scenery part is amazing.
What bike are you riding on? I’m looking for a touring bike myself to go along with my recumbent trike.
Hi mate! My gear is on my website but it’s a Cannondale Topstone 👍 thanks for watching!
