We have a one of a kind rifle we created for Saudi Arabia's military DMR program. Unfortunately Covid shut the program down but I wanted to share this cool project with everyone.
At Desert Tech we love firearms innovation, we are always going against the grain and bypassing traditional designs. We are always doing amazing and fun stuff on the range and hope you enjoy this video!

Man to be honest I’ve never seen such a sexy handguard like that on any other bullpup guns
It must’ve pained the design team to put a giant gob of JB weld on precision machined components😂
Not too bad. Similar to bedding a Remington action into its stock.
@DesertTechUT how long before the warranty gets dropped for this one too you greedy fucks?
It looks like a lot of the lessons learned in this made it into the Wlvrn/Sabertooth rifles. Instead of using JB Weld the new designs simply machines those into the frame. I wonder if the 22" barrel would be made available for the Wlvrn. I also wonder what the level of accuracy was achieved with the rifle from these changes.
Same. I see WLVRN as an amazing DMR, especially in 6.5 CM. If we got a 22" 6.5 barrel, it would be indefinitely great
god that gun is so sexy, please make it available commercially 🙏
It would be super cool to see heavy fluted barrels in the new Wolverines.
That sounds like a good idea. 😁
Maybe a risky question… but the JB weld also came up in the MDRx owner live questions. Is this something users can perform at home that will provide a tangible increase in accuracy? Or are there torques specs not listed in the manual / industry secrets to the application that prevents a DIY retro upgrade at home?
Great question..I might want to do that to my 308 Mdrx
Desert Tech released the torque specs for the Trunnion and other bolts in the "Desert Tech MDRX Cleaning Procedure" video. Specifically in a comment response as the video authorizes users to check, remove, loctite, and reinstall if the user detects the fasteners have backed out.
You could accomplish the same at home. But the rail screw’s typically strip the heads out when dissembling them due to the red lock tight on the screws which is a major PITA to deal with. You’ll also want the new pistons and op rod from the WLVRN.
@@DesertTechUT you can use heat to remove a locktited screw. but red might require too high heat? damaging the components?
@@DesertTechUT "This industrial grade threadlocker packs a stronger punch than the blue and can only be removed by heating the parts to 500F." quoted from the manufacturers site
I want the bullpup bolt but inflation is pushing yall out of my range
Love the sand beige colour. Any plans to introduce it in civilian market? Also, are you planning to release any .338 rifles in the future?

Former PSL - Recon dude in Romanian Army... hence the love for DMRs.
I keep telling you, guys, to do something with one of your bullpup designs... that not even those "Coca-Cola" heads from Kel-Tec were able to come up with, yet: replace the entire lower handle/trigger (and maybe selector) mechanism... with a real, functioning, attachable/detachable ... pistol! That not only works in both attached/detached modes, but also serves as the main "controller" for the main weapon.
Literally, two weapons into one. The trick being how to connect that pistol to its... "Bullpup Roni".
_"But why?"..."Why not?"_
Plus, I kinda want to see those ATF heads spinning, trying to figure out how to categorize - and ban - it.
It'd be classified as a pistol and would require a pistol length barrel.
It wouldn't be easy to design a qd system that allows 2 halves of a barrel to sync up and not leak, and even if they figured out a way to do it, it's still a pistol so you have to either sbr it or deal with a brace
@@nk-dw2hm _"barrel to sync up and not leak"?_ Not sure I understand. You think I want the pistol to shoot thru the rifle's barrel? Are we talking about the same thing? Probably something lost in the translation.
I'm talking about attaching a pistol under the rifle.. kinda in the way you attach a M209 40mm grenade launcher under a rifle... but more like in the style of a Glock pistol to a Micro Roni (the bullpup rifle *is/becomes* the "Micro Roni").
And the pistol can function as the grip/trigger/selector for the rifle too.
Basically the pistol can shoot parallel with the rifle when attached to it because the bullpup configuration allows this, there is nothing in front of the pistol's muzzle, like in the case of an AR type of rifle.
The only issue is how to connect the rods between the rifle's mechanism and the pistol's trigger/selector.
And how to easily disconnect them. (*edit - like Micro Roni's charging handle)
@@nk-dw2hm Ok, how about this?
Do you remember the XM29 OICW? Two weapons (rifle/carbine and bullpup grenade launcher) using the same grip, trigger, selector, mag release, chassis...
@@RazvanMihaeanu I was thinking you meant more like the pistol brace kits where the pistol is the firearm, then you pull it out and it's a pistol.
Wouldn't your explanation fit the definition of a machine gun? 2 bullets simultaneously with one pull of the trigger, a binary is defined differently (in most places) because they can count the back and the forward as separate actions.
I think you'd need it to disable the pistol firing mechanism while in the long format
Would love this hand guard for the WLVRN
To bad Tarkov went to shytt I’m sure this would get added in
Wheres the 277 Fury version at?
JB weld???
I like its color 🎉🎉🎉
From an Accuracy standpoint, I'd love a heavier barrel option on the Wolverine!
That is so odd having the mag in the rear. I could never get used to it or the looks. You couldn't give me one of those.
Tell that to steyr
I would not mind having an MDRX or forward ejecting rifle that could have a long enough barrel that I can make a Morita-rifle-like setup out of it (308 bullpup that has an underslung shotgun attached to it). Especially if I can fit a shotgun with a barrel length between 18" and 20" under it without poking out too far from the rifle barrel
If you build a semi-auto .338LM with a 26" barrel, I'll take 10 for the boat :p
🥴🤤
Medium dimple fluted barrel for the Wlvrn. Design the barrel diameter, shape and dimpling to get maximum surface area, maybe maximum harmonics.
Is 6.5 creedmoor going to be available in this model?
I would like to see that handguard design for an AR platform!
Glad you like it. The slimline Sabertooth handguard will be similar to this.
@@DesertTechUT didn't the Saudis also demand a Saber handguard for use on journalists?
Cool ris
It's really unfortunate how many contracts you've lost. Do you have any good stories of contracts you've gotten? Or does that mean they have to be secret or something?
Yes we do. Generally we don’t advertise them but perhaps we should. We have a lot of international agents that bring us business too so many of the contracts I haven’t been personally involved in so I don’t always know the details personally.
@@DesertTechUT That's really cool. I like you guys, so it's nice to know you're also having good success and not just lost contracts. I'd love to hear some of those stories someday.
Is the other prototype rifle identical to this one?
Yes
Have you sold any units to Australia, Israel or England?
You think Israel would buy from them if they were working with the Saudis?
@@nk-dw2hmThe Israelis already do, they buy from the US
