  • Do Back Stretchers Work For Back Pain?
    We have updated this video and compared 4 different back stretchers!

    One look on social media and you'll see back stretchers touted as a great relief option for those with back pain. In this video we talk about how these back stretchers are potentially helpful and how they differ from the towel exercise we recommend for back pain as part of the Back In Shape Program.
    Ultimately using these sorts of Back Stretchers to help with your back pain is something that can help, however, in most of the videos, reviews and advertisements, if you've got lower back pain, the technique demonstrated will certainly not be ideal for lower lumbar back pain.

    The one I bought is curved up on the sides, which feels lovely when I’m stretching but makes it almost impossible to get off of because you can’t just slide it out! The first time I used it I was on the floor and while I was on it I felt great but as soon as I tried to get off of it I hurt myself. My husband had to lift me off of it, helping me sit up. Since then I’ve only used it on my bed, which is less effective but I can roll to the side to get off of it, and then I just go to sleep.

    • @BackInShapeProgram

    • @BackInShapeProgram
      @BackInShapeProgram  2 года назад +1

      To be honest, i think it's a little extreme for the upper/mid back, for anyone that's stiff in this region seeing images of hyperflexible gymnasts folding back over it is just unrealistic. You can use a smaller rolled towel there but working on your posture is going to be a necessary option as well - this video might well be helpful: ruclips.net/video/5KlfeFeXjHo/видео.html

    : I have used a back stretcher succesfully against lower back pain (from a disc rupture 15 years ago) the wrong way! Will be interesting to try it your way, and see if it is even better…or more comfortable to use.

    Great video - new subscriber. These are heavily marketed across Amazon, thank you for sharing the perils. My lower back issues are due to excessive lordosis and has seized up playing golf this weekend. Would a device like this help or hinder my situation?

      Thanks Anthony, Glad you found the video helpful! In short usage done correctly it is likely to be helpful for most, but we would personally suggest a towel is sufficient. your can read more about the full exercises that we'd recommend on our website - by the way the Phase 1 will help you given the current issue - backinshapeprogram.com/join-free/ for more info.
      There are also 3 other videos that will be relevant to you and hopefully help you further:
