The ending is great. That music, and Rebecca Ferguson screaming just flying off into nothingness is eerie.
For me I felt like Calvin was the Protagonist in the movie. I mean he gets shocked, and proceeds to hunt his enemies down one by one. I actually thought at one point they'd kill him but no he just gets bigger and better as the film goes on. The only film I've watched where you really feel for the crew members while going "how is he not dead yet?" Calvin was way too smart and at the end he flexed it even further when he redirected the ship to go to earth. He had his own mission to tend to lol.
Imagine
Rebecca was the best character un this movie for me
I wish more RUclipsrs would react to this movie.
For sure... "Sunshine " next...!
"That's not deep enough for me...,, 😭 The words no man want's to hear!
Facts 😂😂😂
Bruhhh🤣
Tears😓🫠
🌽🌽🌽🌽🌽
“That’s not deep enough for me”…I’ll be right back…
**Spoiler alert in case someone who hasn't seen the movie is looking in the comments**
I actually loved the fact that Ryan Reynolds died so early in the film. It really gave the feeling that no one was safe and it made it so much more tense.
he became annoying post Deadpool, I'm glad he died early too
It was written by the writers of Deadpool (who have done a number of films with Reynolds by now), which helped to add the shock value as we wouldn't expect him to go of all people. But Reynolds was originally supposed to have the Gyllenhaal role, but had other commitments, and so playing Rory instead I believe only required him for six weeks of shooting.
I knew from the trailer he was a dead man earlier
Well said. The more I watched this movie the more I started to understand that. If they aren’t gonna let the guy who is the most beloved out of all the cast because of his humor live then the whole cast has no chance. Still pissed he died so early tho.
I remember watching this in a theatre years ago and being disturbed by the movie especially the scene where the alien goes into Ryan Reynolds’ mouth and when they find the capsule at the end. I don’t think this movie gets its dues enough.
I think the creature wouldn't have reacted that way if it hadn't been shocked. After that happened, it was on the offensive
Yes, every time it attacks, it's defending it's own life... being shocked or bitten by rat or fleeing from blowtorch. When it gets large enough, it's seeking sustenance again from drinking guy's blood or getting oxygen from flares... and they keep attacking it. If they had been friendly and treated it well, most likely it wouldn't feel so threatened to retaliate.
Why did they edit out the woman in the capsule at end screaming when she knew she was flying into outer space and that the other capsule was going down to Earth?
@Michael Hopkins such a shame...I know it's just a movie but I hope humans remember this if we ever encounter alien life lol be as friendly as possible and be hyper aware of all of your actions because you could have dire consequences if not.
I feel like for the plot of this movie to take place the astronauts all have to be total morons.
I think it just wanted to eat.
I agree. It didn't know that being shocked wasn't an attack.
"...singel cell organism" somehow made me think about the movie Evolution.
Rebecca Ferguson is such amazing actress! She's amazing in Mission Impossible and Doctor Sleep.
"That's not deep enough for me." You have to save that clip LOL
For another great Sci-fi film with Hiroyuki Sanada you should check out Sunshine (2007) if you haven't seen it
Also wouldn't it be ironic if Calvin could be killed by salt water , landing in the ocean like that.
A little Alien Nation twist!
Oh, I second that!
nice! I recently just watched Sunshine and honestly I wish more people watch it.
lol after surviving through all that you really thing simple salt water could kill him 🤣🤣
Honestley seems possible, and this movie is pretty much just if the tardigrade evolved and was a made form instead, the tardigrade is like immune to everything, and the ending seems good, but Calvin could be easily killed by a military lol
The flicking fingers cracked me up 🤣
I think you guys would really like Sunshine.
31:21-31:34 "You do like it deeper." That's got to be the best moment of the reaction for me! lol 🤣
That because you're a filthy pig 😂
no actually that was kind of gross of him to say that unsub!
32:56 i think it was a happy ending,.. for Calvin! he get's the biggest buffet in the solar system! this was a cool film, one of my favs, too bad Deadpool had to die so early in the film 😂 another great reaction!
“Nothing stressful”?!?! Dude this movie gets INTENSE!!
Calvin has such a cool design.
I've seen this one in theaters, but forgot about it since. loved the movie, the japanese actor, always forget his name, is amazing.
Hiroyuki Sanada, he's pretty awesome in whatever genre of movie he's in whether it's an 80s action Hong Kong movie, a Ninja/Samurai movie or horror movie like the original Japanese version of The Ring(Ringu). In the 80s he's known as Henry Sanada. I would recommend the first season of Helix if you're looking into more sci-fi stuff from him{just skip the second season)
私はひろゆさんあいしてるです!
Hiroyuki Sanada. He's in "John Wick : Chapter 4."
The creature went from peaceful to violent after first the guy shocked it,the rat tried to bite it, and then they tried to kill it again. That pretty much put the idea in its head that the humans were hostile and it was a prisoner.
This one is really underrated. One of the creepiest movies I’ve ever seen.
HUH?!? ..se more movies/films/stuff ;-)
Definitely an underrated sci-fi horror
Note that the creature was initially not hostile until attacked. It perceived the shocker as a weapon, and the rat tried to bite it first. This is a prime example of "Humans Ruin Everything". Had they gone about it more peacefully, you might've wound up with a movie more like ET. But, in its early stages, it identified us as a threat, so became hostile and aggressive to survive. When meeting a creature that displays signs of intelligence, don't do stuff that would cause it pain, if it's not actually acting as a threat.
Why the fuck did those fishermen look inside and think, yeah must get this open at all cost??!?!
I think the wife is really scared of Calvin😂😂😂😂😂😂 she’s willing to off everybody to make sure he doesn’t get to her
Such a great cast. This movie was so creepy & dark. I loved it!
I think this movie was inspired by the 1995 episode of The Outer Limits called The Voyage Home starring Michael Dorn. That story also was Mars related.
Species 2 (1998) also involves bringing a sample back from Mars.
One of the best alien designs ever.. actually really terrifying.
That was a great movie. Had all the classic "let's do stupid things in the more careless possible manner and justify them with classic memespeak bullshit" BUT no redeeming happy ending at all. As thoroughly deserved.
I really enjoyed it.
It was hard for me not to feel how hugh felt when he got his hand destroyed by Calvin
Moral of this story: don't touch anything!
this movie is up there with the most disturbing alien movies, i love it
RoanokeGaming did a really cool breakdown on this organism, as he’s a biologist. If you want some extra info on this creature I’d definitely recommend his video! It’s really interestin
A breakdown on a fictional alien creature?
@@w1975b On how it would be irl, biology and genetics, evolution. Do you consider that strange or wrong, somehow?
@@CChissel your original comment made it sound as if the biologist was speaking about a real organism, that was my point. "If you want some extra info on this creature..." Just reminds me of people who get into long discussions about X Men comics, etc. That's their thing, but if you think about it logically, it doesn't have any bearing on the real world. What someone chooses to do with their time is up to them, of course.
@@w1975b Okay? I don’t think I need to clarify that the fictional species I’m talking about is fictional. Are you trying to say it’s stupid or pointless to go over how life can be different on a planet other than Earth? Or are you just being pedantic? I don’t understand the point of your comment unless you’re just trying to either put me down, as if I’m an “x-man comic” lover? Or to teach me that this has no bearing in the real world? I love science and biology, I watch and listen to biologists explain all the different possibilities for life to arise that can be wildly different than on Earth. It is grounded in reality, of possibilities that could happen, or be out there, we don’t really know. I really don’t get why you commented what you did, why say anything at all?
I highly recommend Danny Boyle's 'Sunshine'. One of the all time great sci-fi movies imo
31:28 "You do like it deeper."
I knew immediately it was a bad idea, cause CALVIN was so big now that he would beat a human in tug of war with ease. So I knew that human trying to vear off course to the void of space would be impossible, and futile due the sheer strenght of the organism.
"It's just the circle of life"
Me; starts singing in lion king...
This movie had one of the hardest twist endings since Saw.
Cool reaction as always Mr. & Mrs. Movies, you both have a nice day
As always Mr Reynolds making those jokes about Hugh Jackman 😂😂😂😂😂
thank you for reacting to this fucking underrated movie mannn i love your guy's reactions and especially for this movie!
14:49 - 👀 i love your emotional response. I've never seen you emote so much, mi lady. 😊.
J from NJ
Thanks for the reaction. Good choice. The actors did an admirable job, but for me, I wish they had cast a collection of unknown actors. Definitely check out the Russian space/alien film Sputnik.
I second that. Sputnik is a contender.🤜🏿🤛🏻
The space screaming thing - nobody can hear you because there is no medium over which the sound can travel. Sound is produced due to oscillations of the air which your ears receive and decode. If there is no air or other medium which resonates in a very similar way to air over which sound waves can travel, no sound will be heard.
The alien was just trying to survive. He probably felt like a prisoner and that they were only experimenting with it. And it didn't want to be just a lab rat. Hehehe
"Special reqchuestchslaush" lmao
I seriously want to see a sequel called LIFE 2 EARTH IS FUCKED.
In space, no one makes ice-cream. 🍦
Such and underrated movie. Thanks for reacting. I also peeked at SpaceIce; looks like there could be some funny stuff in there. Subscribed.
My wife and I got the red band trailer for this movie at the beauty and the beast live movie in a theater full of kids and parents. Hopefully someone else found the situation funny.
idk why but i love endings like these.
I remember watching this film on a whim when it came out and I only remember bits and pieces of it
You should also check out the other movie also called 'LIFE' (1999) with Eddie Murphy & Martin Lawrence. Y'all might like it. 😉
Classic
That's what I thought it was. Didn't know about a syfy movie called "Life"
“Cuz I’m a nasty mfkr!” 😂
My favorite comedy of all time.
Mrs reactions are priceless ! 😆😆
Watched this in cinema actually, with my sister, her boyfriend and my mother. My mother thought Life meant something else. She was scared.
And Space Ice is an amazing youtuber.
Oh, he's hilarious with the Seagal send-ups. The sarcasm and wit is the funniest shit ever.
@@Emulous79 Yeah, they are great. And I enjoy the Uwe Boll one's too.
Love Space Ice
Well "no one can hear you scream in space" is because there is no air in space. Sound is a mechanical wave who need a substance like air, water or gases to travel.
😂😂😂 Great reaction. I love this movie, especially the ending.
Gotta love & hate this movie. At first, it felt like an alien rip-off. Rewatch... loved it. Weird how that happens sometimes. But God damn that ending. Like... I love IT cause... I hate it lol, it's an ending I dread, yet because of that, I love it. I gotta just accept both.. HOW MANY MOVIES DO THAT? Not many, so I love it again that. So yeah, I love the ending
If Calvin is an eternal bioweapon, it might fear multiplying because it sees it as a chance to open an evolutionary pattern where its own power turns against itself, eventually. That eternal point of view might make the risk seem so certain that it could even rather die than make another one of itself. This could be Calvin's only weakness and a reason it could maybe only grow to a certain size, make it possible to nuke it if you could catch it, while it swims around the world like a mega-giant squid super-speed stealth torpedo, consuming life as it goes.
Why does nobody listen to me, nobody f'ing listens to me. The Mrs was really rolling for this movie. Great stuff, way to suffer through these. Always liked this movie, creepy as hell.
Love this movie. Right up there with Sunshine.
Funny that you mention Godzilla since the weapon they developed to take out Godzilla was an anti-oxygen bomb, which might actually work on Calvin.
"Species" (1995) Natasha Henstrige, Marg Helgenberger, Michael Madsen, Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, Alfred Molina. visual design by H. R. Geiger
Calvin gave me nightmares for weeks
It makes me think of the tardigrade. That's a real-life weird little creature that even radiation can't kill.
Shown in one of the Ant-Man movies.
there's hope! lol
Research shows that tardigrades can be killed by exposure to hot water for an extended period of time. One study showed that one hour of exposure to water at 82.7 °C (180.9 °F) can kill a tardigrade in its “tun” state, where it goes into suspended animation and becomes hard to destroy.

@@w1975b So nothing in this life is invincible after all. Except in a video game with cheats.
The score just intense with those horns sound
I remember when the trailer first came out there was speculation that this was a Venom prequel.
This is the most I've ever heard the Mrs. curse. I was hilarious.
Venom sitting back asking why wasnt my movie this good.
Mrs. Movies- "abort mission!"
Mr. Movies- "theyre in space" lol you guys make my day and congrats btw reaching I huge milestone been watching since y'all had 70k subscribers and now so close to 100k you guys will get there well deserved 🙏
This was the BEST reaction! 😂😂😂😂
He was trolling lol calming... Yeah right. Life is one of the scariest movies ever .. about Alien
Mrs., do you have Raynaud's? I noticed your hands looked quite purple and you mentioned your feet being very cold. Magnesium may help open up the blood vessels and resolve that.
Please please pretty please - I really want a sequel.
What TV do you guys have? I'm looking to make a purchase but there are so many choices.
Markus seems to have the same taste in movies that I do lol...
Per your request for depressing, there's only one movie to suggest. The beautifully shot, exquisitely acted Melancholia from 2011. Drama/sci-fi written and directed by Lars von Trier. Kirsten Dunst won best actress at Canes for her performance which was justly deserved. A real chance to ask "What would I do in this situation" that doesn't involve outer space or aliens. Well worth a watch for the beauty of the photography and brilliant acting if nothing else. Also stars Keifer Sutherland, Charlotte Gainsbourg, John Hurt, Alexander and Stellan Skarsgard.
Must do the Cassandra crossing. And the poisidan adventure . And 20. 000 leagues under the sea . And the island of Dr. Monroe 😊
Both conundrums are as equally horrifying as one another
Thumbs up for the intro alone. lol
The Flying Dutchman jellyfish here on earth is not a single organism it is a colony of independent cooperative single celled individuals. So there is precedent in nature for this concept. And I don't believe the Flying Dutchman is the only one. Once there was a discovery of a giant omeoba on a golf course. I think maybe 10 feet across.
18:06...Sorry, what was that Mrs Movies, I wasn't listening 😳...🤣
That ending... Wow.
Ikr?! I dnk which one got it worst
I watched this again last night. Good film.
i was so glad when reynolds died early in the movie. hes the same character in every movie.... himself. i think the only movie he isnt the same type of character was the amityville horror remake. also... no sequel needed. not all movies need to end happy.
It remind me of that Star Trek Voyager episode *Macrocosm* which is ironic since this was the episode where Janeway went Ripley.
Saw this in theatres was yelling at the screen alot lol 😂😂😂
If only the guy from The Last Samurai had brought a Katana on board, all this could have been avoided.
Maybe, like Triffids, it dies when in contact with salt water. :)
Which is more depressing, the ending of Life (2017) or The Mist (2007)?
edited - removed extra words
Literally just watched this yesterday too
I liked Rebecca Ferguson in this. Don't forget to watch Life (1999) with Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence lol. Opus did a song called "Life Is Life." If you haven't seen Apollo 18, I recommend it.
My takeaway from this movie is : Life is NOT like a box of chocolates !
I saw this movie at the cinema when it was released but I didn't remember anything about it except that Ryan Reynolds died very early in the film. I didn't even remember that Jake Gyllenhaal was in it.
31:27 LoL First time viewing this channel :P
oh man i have waited for such a long time for someone to watch this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! granddaddy got some taste!
OMG, have I heard in the beginning the sound of an ancient modem that I thought had not been made in 20 years? I started out with this modem - it downloaded 1 megabyte in 5 minutes! 😱😱😱What was it??
(autotranslated)
33:01 Happy Ending for Calvin. Not for Humanity.
You likely already know this, so I get the joke about helmets, but I just need to specify, that it's because sound needs oxygen to travel; and because there's no oxygen in space there's no sound. like in Independence Day when David and Steve look behind them after the Nuke blows up the mother ship, that is not an accurate depiction. They would not even know the shockwave was coming UNTIL it hit them. There's no way they'd hear the wave coming. They might FEEL it coming though, but they didn't react to the ship shaking they looked back as if hearing it coming.
Superman speaking in Space though?? that one is iffy. I suppose that it's possible given the God-like superiority of his natural senses, but then how could anyone hear him??
9:08 turns out to be a tiny used car sales lot. _JC
It is like a hybrid of The Thing and Alien
Don't forget HEARTWARMING!
I still wholeheartedly believe this could be the perfect Venom (Marvel) movie 🍿 just reframe a thing or two and it's all there
Don’t worry, Mrs. Movies. I have a high tolerance for this stuff but this movie stressed me the F out! Didn’t realize until I saw it that my biggest fear would be to tumble out into the nothingness of space like she does at the end.
Me too. Mrs. Movies reaction to this was pretty much me, except I screamed a LOT more. Also, had nightmares & was generally uneasy for several days after seeing it. Very few movies affect me like that.
I'd guess she'll either freeze to death or suffocate before dying of dehydration.
Calvin is Venom's Mom
