As much as I prefer subtitles, I will admit dubs can help with accessibility for people that are dyslexic, poor sight, or just doesn’t want to read subtitles. And if that is what it takes for more non English language movies and shows to get mainstream success worldwide, so be it.

Dubbing is a traditional industry in México since 40's and is considered an acting specialization. The vast majority of TV since 50's in México was foreign media dubbed into spanish by local dubbing studios located in Mexico City, the same dubs were also exported to another latin american countries. Theatrical releases were only subbed (unless animated stuff and documentaries) until 2000 due to a law pursued by local cinema industry that was afraid of dubbing thinking it would help foreign cinema to took over theaters in México. For that reason live action Videohome releases on VHS/Beta were almost totally subbed. Dubbing for live action cinema and videohome became absolute after 2000 so classic latin american spanish dubs for live action movies and TV shows are exclusively records for TV.
In Brazil, we're used to watch so many movies and series from all over the world. Dubbing it is a thing very common in our TV, streaming services, and cinema (that became a law in the mid-1960s for broadcast tv and in the 2000s for cable TV). For us, dubbing is inclusion and accessibility.

I've been watching K-cinema for years with subtitles. I also watched dubbed Bruce Lee, a treasured American hero, movies in the 70's and appreciate efforts to make the dubbing more palatable. Many times, especially in the Korean cinema, they use a lot of colloquial references that apply to the social hierarchy. When dubbed and even with subtitles this is lost. The director of Squid Games also said to use subtitles and he knows.
"The King's Affection" isn't that great of a series, but it's still fun. Please no second season.
Only time dubbing works is animation. Like anime. Sometimes, English speaking distributors (ADV, Geneon, Funimation) will input cheesy vocal talent and jokes which I like and doesn’t feel too distracting
Back in the mid 1970s I remember The University of Hawaiis language lab dubbing the Japanese t. v. shows "Kikiada and Untraman". Both "hits".
They have come a long way but it still looks very unnatural. I've always preferred to read subtitles so I can hear the actors real voice
Voice Actors are real actors.
I find that dubs are just more convenient to watch since you don't have to keep reading and can focus more on the show itself. That being said, live action is especially hard to dub due to lip flaps not matching up.

I watched episode 1 in English just to hear Gregs performance (I love the guy, hes so talented it makes ya wanna puke lol). It was my first time watching a live action dub since childhood (think like, bruce lee movies) we have come a long way. that being said as long as my narcolepsy isnt on hardmode- I watch live action exclusively in its native language. Its nice to see though that on my bad days- I can still have a good experience if i need to watch dubbed.
No dubs please of live action foreign language films and TV. It’s distracting and takes away from the brilliance of it all
I mean... dubbing is great when done accurately and skillfully, and Greg Chun is a good actor, but the Squid Game dub was not good. I'm sorry, it's just true. The performances in this show were incredibly shoddy.
I will continue to use subtitles.
