This is the dumbest trend in sponsorship ever. "A portion of this video was sponsored by..." and they refer to the portion where the ad is being read. Makes no sense. The entire video is sponsored by the portion where he read the ad. Otherwise, the only thing the sponsor is sponsoring, is it's own ad. To which I'd say, "Naw thanks, I didn't need that, just don't do it next time." If I say "A portion of this trip is sponsored by X", and it's an adventure to Disneyland, then I know "Okay, Disneyland is expensive, so the sponsor paid for the expenses of that part of the trip". You begrudgingly accept the sponsor, so that you get to have the content you want. The way they phrase it here, (not just Doug, most others), it's as if the ad itself was the content I wanted, and we're so glad that the sponsor sponsored their own ad.
He did an ad for a speaker a while ago, but it didn't happen too often.

@@yahstino It is not just Audi and not just between Europe and the USA. Even within Europe things go bad since car manufacturers arbitrary decide which models and options are available in different countries. For example, some interesting models of Mercedes and their options are simply unavailable for the UK (the country is not poor and the options in questions are not related to the left-handiness of the drive lanes, so there is no real excuse). It ALMOST looks like marketing departments have to "earn" their salaries/budgets so they "study" markets to come up with those ridiculous decisions instead of just allowing people to buy what they want.

Well it's a welcome change after all those "Cars & Bids" promos.
I had the opportunity to drive one recently. I was very impressed. This car doesn't get the respect it deserves because so many people are ignoring great sedans in favor of crossovers.

@@PKPhoenix83 This is worse than Merc and BMW though, because at least Merc and BMW separate them by using M-sport, etc - Cadillac is using the full V name, like CT5-V, when it's really a V-sport. This not only causes confusion, it completely dilutes the V brand.

I can definitely appreciate having both physical buttons and touch screen control!! Using a touch screen while driving is not only a PITA, but can also be dangerous given how much attention you have to give to making sure you hit the correct thing. Also nice that there's controls in the center console for easy use by feel. Does seem odd to have those extra dials just under the screen though.
FYI: Cadillac has confirmed that the next model year (2021) CT5 will have full gauge cluster screen

It’s not that I don’t like commercials on my favourite channels is that Doug don’t understand how to incorporate them. First it was cars an bids. I could live with it, I was just hoping for them to be shorter. But the content content ad sucks. I’m not going to wast my time on crap like that.

I've seen too many reviews (including this one) that compare this car to the CTS V, which is not what it's trying to replace. The real CTS V successor is coming later.

Consider then, that the 2016 CTS-V did 0-60 in 3.6 seconds.
The 2021 CT5 has a 12” digital gauge cluster optional like the German competition so this will address that omission if that really concerns you. I mean even the 7-8” center display is already configurable enough probably for most people & that will be the standard gauge cluster screen now lol

It reminds me a lot of the styling by Infiniti’s Q series. Just the front, back, and partially the wheels. Cadillacs do have some hefty power and are enjoyable to drive.
Recently sold my Mercedes CL63 2008 and was in the market for a 4 door sport sedan. It was able to get the 2024 Ct5-V in the new Midnight Steel color. Is the best values for the money and was able to get it 63.9k equipment for 56k on a 3 year lease.
The car is mostly under appreciated and that is the reason you can get a very good price with the correct dealer.

To the point about introducing the V first before Blackwing - BMW introduced the M340i before the M3. The M3 is expected because it has a history, but it's not necessarily a bad choice. Part of the issue I think is that cars have become so powerful, that you have to separate experience - a more sporty experience vs vehicle for the track. It's a sign of the era we are in for vehicles - it's harder to provide value through power. I'll wait to see what Cadillac will do with the Blackwing before forming any deeper opinion. Great review as always.

Its not a big deal, just a platform. They have the CT6-V, it's their TT DI V8 platform (DOHC though ugh.....), but not nearly powerful but buku torqish 640LBS-FT.
Never heard of the XLR-V, STS-V or ATS-V?? None of them had Corvette engines and the XLR was built on the Corvette platform in the Corvette factory but fitted with a Northstar
Cadillac is really stepping up they’re game. This Cadillac is beautiful. I hope Cadillac in the future goes so far as to compete with other high end European luxury car brands and makes 12 cylinder cars with hand crafted detailed interiors

Yeah I never understood that move. The same 3.0TT made 404hp in the CT6, and they both make 400 lb-ft sooooo... yeah. Having driven all three, the 3.0TTs are way smoother than the 3.6 and have much more low-end.

Different power band? The twin turbo may have more torque available at lower rpm's.

Can't agree more, and I'm 26 (Millennial). Screens are so boring and fake, the screen in the center plus the main touchscreen are fine but gauges are classic, functional, and don't go out of style, plus I think they're nicer to look at.
I also like real gauges but most instrument clusters have dual gauges (speedo and tach), and as we can see from this Caddy, it is difficult to integrate a good size screen with two real gauges.
Porsche 911 probably has the best of both worlds, because it has a center tach gauge design. You get the true analog tach in the middle, flanked by two big screens on the sides which can be configured to your liking. That's my favorite design so far.
Same here, the only exception being Mercedes-Benz, VW/Audi & Lexus.

Unless I missed it you said the "V" fender, tail, sill, and mat. Well when pointing out the steeringwheel wheel vol control there is a "V" on a faux button next to volume down. Aside for that Doug you are awesome and I am jealous. Make me want to do the same w wheelchairs as I am paralysed.

Doug’s sponsors are ads that I really don’t mind. He said in a video awhile back on his 2nd channel More Doug Demuro that he doesn’t do ads, and the only times he does is when he truly uses or believes in a product, so I think this ad has a credible source!

20:10 while I completely agree with your argument here, you say "I think most people in this segment would expect a little bit more performance" that's true. HOWEVER, I think most people buying Cadillac expect more legroom, more Americanized car if that makes sense. You don't buy a Cadillac to get BMW sharp turning or acceleration, you buy a Cadillac for the extra 10% legroom and you know you're trading some performance. At least in my eyes, it's how I feel this segment plays out
Call me old school, but I prefer my gauge cluster analogue with a high quality screen in the middle. It's perfect if it's nicely done.
