Cut-Rate Commander - Episode 55 - Featuring Tasha, the Witch Queen from Battle for Balur's Gate #MTG #edh #commander #mtgbaldursgate
Welcome back folks! I'm back from vacation and I'm bringing back with Tasha, the Witch Queen from Battle for Balur's gate to helm a build that will steal our opponents spells from right under their noses!
In this build, we'll be aiming to make the most out of our commanders passive by stealing and casting our opponents spells as often as possible. Of course, that means we'll be running plenty of effects that lets us pilfer our opponents spells from their decks, hand, and graveyards - ranging from one time spell effects to more repeatable sources on creatures that do so turn after turn as they crack in. The, coupled with a handful of evasion granting sources and means to get more cards into our opponents decks for us to steal, we'll soon have those who dare challenge the might of the witch queen falling under the weight of their own spells and our army of demons.

I'm late to the party but I got into mtg about a month ago and I found your channel from looking into upgrades for the fallout precons. This deck sounds like a ton of fun and Tasha is a badass in D&D lore so having her as a commander would be amazing.
I picked up a Tasha just for this build.
Now I just have to find the rest.

welcome back! I loved seeing your take on Tasha. I've wanted to do build a Tasha deck strictly from her Dnd lore.
Glad to be back! Glad you enjoyed the build - this one doesn't stick too closely to her lore but I'm sure that you can still make a solid build more suited to her history (lots of demon summoning probably).

I really like your content and how you build/update decks. Best part is where you explain which cards you swap for what, helps with incremental upgrading. Would like to see what you cut for the more expensive cards in your videos general

I'm always on the fence about strictly telling folks what card to upgrade (outside of the precon upgrades that is) since I feel folks should have the opportunity to test the build and see what works for them, what doesn't, and make changes accordingly. Still, if there is enough demand for precise card to card upgrades, I would be willing to include it.

Yeah. spell theft if a bit hit or miss depending on the playgroup - best avoid it if they find it annoying.

Hello there. I was hoping to pull a tasha or elminster from boxes but unfortunately didnt and their prices are bonkers on release. Now that they're within budget range i might get tasha.
Yep - they certainly dropped in price since the set came out, so its a good time to grab them if you want to build them!
I like Tasha so much more than the other planeswalker in that set!
She is a strong contender no doubt!

What Cards would you replace if doing all of the upgrades?
heya is there a chance you can make a Brena the demagogue cut out commander video? I have her precon and i love filling her up with counters and bashing my opponents but the deck needs some oomph! would also love a Prosper tome bound cut out!
There are no current plans to tackle older commanders but it may be something I expand into in the future, so keep an eye out for that!
I find it weird that you put dragur necro in the deck, but have no snow lands and only coldsteel heart. Do you just replace a couple of basics?
My playgroup and I don't play with plainswalkers. But interesting build.

Do you think the new Ayesha Tanaka, Armored is a good commander? And would you build her when the set comes out?
Overall I think she's a solid voltron equipment commander and I can certainly put her on a future poll once we're done covering the precons.
@@GrazzetMTG I've gathered a fair amount of rare azorious lands but no deck to put them in, she would be great to try to build and finally use my lands :D
what does happen to the cards u cast with her -3? It continues in exile? Can she cast the same card over and over with her -3?
Good question! When you cast a card from exile, it goes back to its owners graveyard - so sadly we can not recast the same exiled spells over and over again.
Is there a budget wincon youd recommend putting in the deck? I feel like tasha cant close out a game through stealing instants and sorceries from opponents
Using other player's win-con is your win-con.
I don't think there's another "in flavor" win-con, if you want one you can go the infinite mana + exsanguinate route or mill
Usually she'll win through the combination of the spells we steal and the tokens we create, but if you're looking to a built in wincon: Duskmantle Guildmage + Mindcrank result in infinite life loss and mill (while indiviaually being good to set up the graveyard for Tasha & other grave robbing effects to use) - Peer into the Abyss + Psychic Corrosion also usually results in milling out the entire table (with again Psychic Corrosion being good to fill our opponents bins in the meantime).
Hope those help!
These are mana intensive but peer into the abyss plus psychosis crawler, syr konrad plus morality shift, and warlock class level 3 plus kicked scourge of the skyclaves will all kill the table on a budget. Gray merchant of asphodel also tends to win games.

My store sells them for $2. It was planned to be my budget thought vessel.
The Decanter of Endless Water (Showcase) frame is a lot cheaper than that on TCG player - currently at $0.23 (which went up a bit since I calculated the prices) - so I would get it from there instead.

Regarding the upcoming video... please upgrade the Painbow deck first. It is outright BEGGING to be fixed, not to mention Jared being as based as he is. Seriously, why does the Mardu deck get painlands while the deck that needs them gets bootleg triomes instead?!

Gotta admit, I'm not all that stoked for the DMU precons. Hopefully you can spice them up a bit, because legend pile is probably the laziest precons they've made to date.
