    I built Tasha when she first came out, she is SOOOOO much fun! My favorite part is with how much stealing of opponents stuff happens, it fits in almost any power level game since your power level is tied to your opponents power level!

      The only caveat I would state, is be careful with newbies. Suddenly losing cards can make them anxious about losing to many and put a target on your back. Watched a friend get taken out turn five because he milled 4 cards from everyone. I was like "woah guys, you have 100 cards, 4 doesn't mean much" lol

    • @hamsterfromabove8905

      @@levioverturf9435 You can't do too much about that. I got curb stomped by a new player because I put a Curse of the Restless Dead on them. All it does is make it so that when they play a land I get a 2/2 zombie for sac fodder. They freaked out and dumped all of their removal onto me while full swinging me every turn because I put something on them they didn't like. I was by far the weakest player at the table that game due to some unlucky interaction with someone else.
      I tried to explain to them that curse of the restless dead literally don't hurt them at all and that they weren't the threat I was focusing on. But they hard targeted me anyways. My other opponent literally joined me in asking why they were blowing up my sol ring out of everything when I was already essentially out of the game. They said the only way they had to to deal with me was player removal.
      My point being is that there is no point in being careful with new players. They don't know threat assessment and it's a mistake to think you can predict what they'll do.

    i have displacer kitten in my tasha deck and its insane, you minus tasha to cast a spell, displacer kitten blinks tasha, you get to activate her again to cast another spell and continue the process. not infinite, but lets you cast every spell she currently has exiled. pretty good for a 12$ card!

    • @DerangedDerelict

      If you have something like Rod of Absorption or Dauthi Voidwalker on the field this becomes infinite. Her -3 does not remove the page counter, so those instants are sorceries are valid targets once they go back into exile. :)

    • @Rei_Zayaki
      @Rei_Zayaki Год назад +4

      @@DerangedDerelict This is incorrect, once the card leaves one zone (Exile) The page counter will cease to exist on it.

    Great build! In researching Tasha myself I don't think that spells like Wizard's Spell book would actually create Demon tokens because you are creating and casting copies which means you would then own the spell

    8:00 sadly Wizards Spellbook isn't too good here since we are creating copies and the person creatig the copies owns the copies, here's the relevant rule
    112.2a Some effects instruct a player to create a copy of a card and say they may cast it. In that case, the owner of that copy is the player who is instructed to create it and given permission to cast it.

    I got the Alternative Art Borderless Foil version of Tasha out of the only pack I bought for the Baldur's Gate set. So, I said "why not?" and built the deck. At first, I struggled a bit, because I have never played a Planeswalker as a commander, and that is obviously very difficult, because players always target them even if they aren't the biggest threat on the battlefield. So, I struggled about when to cast, how to keep it on the battlefield, and when was best to use the minus ability.
    First and foremost, I think they underpowered Tasha slightly. They should have made this a 4 mana value commander. Considering your opponents are going to throw everything they have at you each attacking phase, it should be slightly less expensive to cast, due to commander tax. Then, the Demon tokens should have flying. If you have a Planeswalker, you should be rewarded with the flyers to keep the attackers off you. It makes no sense to have ground creatures, when the designers know that players attack Planeswalkers. I mean, it doesn't even matter if the Planeswalker isn't even that great, players just get scared and auto-attack. Making them 4/4s might be too strong, because that gets into Angel Token territory, and you can go on the offensive, which this Commander is not designed to do. The Demon tokens are just to ward off would be attackers.
    Eventually, after playing the deck a few times, I got better at understanding how to play this Commander. You generally need at least a few mill spells. I run Maddening Cacophony and Fractured Sanity, because that's enough to get things into someone's yard. I even have Tasha's Hideous Laughter - it doesn't help Tasha's ability but it does thin out their library, which combos with Oblivion Sower, which I also run in the deck. To round this out, I play Mnemonic Deluge, which late game can either do something really neat or help you mill out other players by targeting mill spells in your graveyard. Beware exile effects. Do run a few counter spells, and if someone plays Rest In Peace or another GY hate card, you had best use that counter spell without question. You need spells in other players' yards. Also, this is a deck that literally needs lots of mana rocks. I run at least 6 of them. If you aren't ramping, you aren't winning. I also have a lot of steal effects, like Blatant Thievery. This really helps out, because instead of removing threats, you just steal them. Displacer Kitten is an AUTO INCLUDE (Golden Pig), and is quite possibly the best card in CLB set. Lastly, effects like Propaganda work. I have Propaganda and Mirrormade, which can either make an extra propaganda or copy something spicy an opponent has. If you copy another opponents' Propaganda, you can have three of them - wouldn't that be nice? My last card to mention is Mnemonic Betrayal. This card, at first glance, seems to suck. Honestly, it is really only good mid to late game, when you have a lot of mana and they have a big graveyard. But, this can be a huge blowout. Combined with Oblivion Sower, you can get a bunch of lands on your battlefield to keep the turn going. Build Tasha to have a few different win cons, if possible.
    The past two games I played with Tasha were "bonkers games." At my LGS I ended up dominating with Tasha, and one player said it was the "greatest magic game they ever witnessed." That might be exaggerating, but it was pretty crazy. I won against a Myriiam, Averna, and Go-Shintai decks at high-mid level, shockingly. It really all depends on what kind of super powerful spells you get in other players' yards, which is where the mill comes in handy. And, just yesterday, I ended up winning by milling out a Darien and a Wolfgar deck, facing down an army of 13 angels made from Darien and Divine Visitation. I had hit a Tasha's Previous Laughter two turns ago, on my last turn I got Maddening Cacophony kicked. On my final turn, I got a Displacer Kitten out, and then drew into a Mnemonic Deluge by blinking Tasha, and did Maddening Cacophony x3 to finish milling out my opponents.
    This is really a fun Commander to play, especially when you've played a few games and get a feel for it. Planeswalker commanders are tough, but the Tasha ability is really good. If you have some dimir decks you aren't playing that much anymore, take them apart and build a Tasha deck. You will be happy you did!

    After brewing with de deck a lot, indeed Tasha herself is a little bit over, with 5CMC. To best round that, take care with your mana curve. Any creature above 3 manas is a no go in my experience. Spells with heavy costs should be also reserved to changing boards effects/winning, not necessarily the "casting opponent spells" gimmicks, which can be done in more effective ways in low curve. A last note following that, you can easily have other ways of winning besides casting the opponent own best spells: You can easily mill out one opponent out of the game, you can combo the mill with effects like Duskmantle Guildmage and go for the win and other alternatives. I found ways to consistently gets around 10 demon tokens and cast Dread Charge/Dirge of Dread for the win, but also use a small reanimate engine with entomb, abusing Tasha effect and milling cards for a huge Sepulchral Primordial/Rise of the Dark Realms casting, which usually ends the game in a pretty unique fashion.

    i personally think the golden pig should be displacer kitten because it litterally lets you cast all spells with her -1 until you run out then you can +1 and get them all back under her then cast one spell and rinse and repeat the process

    bro I would love to see you do a budget Ghoul caller Gisa deck tech😍

  • @Kahadi
    @Kahadi 2 года назад +1

    As nice as this deck seems, I feel its one that can get very complicated to actually play very quickly. Why? Because of how many different "exile an opponent's card, you may cast it" effects there are.
    Not the number, but the variety. Exile with one of a few counters on it, exile it and cast it this turn, exile it and cast it as long as you control the card that exiled it, exile it and cast it for free, exile it and cast it using mana of any colour, exile it and cast it for life. And you need to keep track of them all. Just Tasha and Nightveil Spectre would be two different kinds of exiled cards you can cast and you need to keep track of which is which.
    So the more permanents you have out with that kind of effect, its almost like a new exile pile for each one to keep track of them, especially if Tasha isn't out for any reason and you have to hold on to whatever ones you can until she's out again.
    So I like the concept, but I don't think I could ever play it myself.

    • @josharko111
      @josharko111 2 года назад +2

      When I still used the Prosper Tome-bound precon, I did this by putting the exiled card sideways under the card that exiled it. This works best with permanents though since you can't really keep instants and sorceries on the battlefield or anywhere nearby
