God how Lucky was our generation!? Springsteen, Seger, Petty, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, AC/DC, The Eagles, and the list goes on!!!!
Yeah
Very true. Not to forget John Mellencamp as well, highly underrated
I would add Van Morrison and Bob Dylan to that list
AMEN to that!😊
Without Bruce and Rock and Roll,
I never would have made it to 60.
Nothing stokes the fires inside and ignites the soul like Rock and Roll.
When it was me against the world, music has always been there for me
Wish I could say the same about people
Max Weinberg, Gary Tallent, Roy Bittan, Danny Fredrici, Clarence and Steve VZ. By far the best version of the E Street band.
Totally agree
Patti was pretty good
The Band has always been Great!
Later additions have added to an already great Core
In particular, Nils brought his own Style to the Guitar! He did not try to replace Stevie!
When Stevie rejoined - they were two great professionals who worked off each other very well!
The ability to evolve is the hallmark of The E Street Band!
@@billorlando Nils was an upgrade IMO. Much better guitarist, with an interesting fingerpicking style.
He's never had a bad lineup, but this one's the one for me also.
That - ladies and gentlemen - is Rock and Roll!
The best of rock n roll
You bet
Indeed my man
Yes from germany
Amen brother 🙏🥀
Leaving the show after my first Springsteen show, I was exhausted and blown away by what I had just witnessed, and that was ROCK N ROLL IN ITS PUREST FORM... No fancy stage costumes or light shows just great performances of fantastic songs.... ON THE 8TH DAY, GOD CREATED BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN AND THE E STREET BAND AND DAMN!!!! IT WAS GOOD
Once saw Bruce in Saginaw ; missed the show in Detroit Labour Day weekend 78: the Arena held 5,000 + , but believe it or not there were 2,000 people; sat very close to Clarence,,,amazing show , , , Best part Bruce played at least 4+ hrs. Before the encores the band was asking" what next" how about Jail house Rock ," then the Detroit Medley,,, oh yeah the ticket was $6.50.

The energy Bruce puts out is just off the chain !!!
No joke I've literally watched this video at least 1,000 times
I don't blame you.
I saw them in Atlanta a mere three months after this show. Do this day, the single greatest concert I've ever seen. I just turned 18 a week earlier, and I was RIPE for it!
I can surely dig it.....
My first time, how have I never seen this before?!
Might want to diversify your life a little.....its short!
Still one of my favorites. Bruce is the man, couldn't ask for any better to share a birthday with.
My wife wanted to see Bruce for her 60th. Third show at the Meadowlands last week! I have no words to describe it! Simply amazing!
Let's just hope Bruce will tour again after this corona shit is over!
Well said maaaan!! Fuck off this corona.
Fuck corona in germany
Let's hope he doesn't get Corona
I'm sure he will.
I think people that matter will be putting pressure on other people to "Follow the science" and Concerts will soon be like the riots. Riots and concerts don't spread Corona. Because science.
The greatest live performer of all time as far as I am concerned.
There is no doubt and this video shows why!!!
no doubt, I've seen him 80 times. by far the best Ive ever seen. And I've seen Led Zeppelin, The Who, the stones, Clapton, McCartney etc etc
Agree
What? Wait a minute? Nope. Bon scott was better. With chuck berry a close second. Then fats domino. Then mick Jagger. Then paul McCartney. Then pete Townshend. And the who. Have you ever seen the who in concert? Of course "" the who. Then bruce.
Pure and simple.
Have you ever seen chuck berry rolling? In concert? Or the whos 4 original members burning the midnite oil in concert?
Or Angus young and bon scott just rocking on stage?
Buddy?
Bruce is good.
Perhaps even a musical GOD. In concert.
I admit.
Hes good.
Bt that said?sir.
Bruce does not compare with musical performances given to fortunate humans by the who, and ac dc.
Or Bruce's idol.chuck berry.
Check history.
Bud.
That's obvious.
Pure and simple
.
if you didnt see The BOSS between '73 & '81..... you havent lived.
every audience member left wet & exhausted.
this was the best E Street lineup. Big Man & Danny still kickin... Miami Steve still hungry... it was truly special.
I wasn’t even born till 85 so get fkd
@@pony682 , sorry boutchu
Saw him at least six times during that period and agree. I saw him on this tour in L.A. and he was on fire. Also got to see him in small venues during that time, at Princeton and Georgetown Universities.
He was the best I’d ever seen in 78 when I saw three Darkness shows. But at my 64th show in 2016 he was still better than anyone else, with the possible exception of September 30, 1978, when I saw a concert at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Cause whoever we are, whatever our connections, resources, or anything else, there is one way we’re all equal. We can only see Bruce Springsteen the first time once, and that concert was it for me. I left the Fox thinking, *knowing*, that I had just experienced the greatest rock & roll that had ever been or was ever likely to be. Ten days short of 43 years later I haven’t for a moment thought otherwise.
@@pony682 tell your momma i said, hi
Glad to see Bruce's tour several years ago when he played THE RIVER album in it's entirety. Probably my favorite Springsteen release.
If you ever want a lesson on how to play live & leave your soul on the stage, this is it. Bruce Springsteen is insane, This video makes me miss Clarence so much 🎸🎷🎹🥁🛵🛵🛵🛵
Now this, boys and girls, is what we call great music!!!
Hear, hear.
Around the time that 'Dancing In the Dark' was released and the 'Born In the USA' album was starting to take over the world, a friend of mine lent me his cassette copy of The River. For the first couple of weeks I only listened to 'Hungry Heart' over and over and over.
A few weeks later I was in a Waldenbooks, and I saw a paperback about Bruce. Can't remember the name of it, but there was a concert photo in which Nils is doing a somersault, and another one with him wearing this outrageously enormous, foam 10-gallon hat. The caption said something along the lines of "Bruce and Nils" rock out to Cadillac Ranch." I thought to myself, "Istn that song on the 1st side of the 2nd cassette of 'The River?' I should give it a listen.
I went home, plugged in cassette #2, fast-forwarded to the 2nd song. I heard that song for the first time, and I was gob smacked. Hooked. And I've never looked back.
YES INDEED
And 40 years later he's still making great music!
Rock 'N' Roll baby!
The greatest rocker. "I saw the future of rock'n'roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen. " Jon Landau, 1974.
I've never in eight times of seeing the band over the years thought they were anything but great, but there's something to be said for being able to go back and revisit who they were in 1980. They were well on their way to international stardom, but they were still hungry and clawing their way to the top. That little bit of extra intensity stands out immediately in this video. They rocked it so hard, plus with the benefit of time passing, you really realize how much their core sound was tied back to early rock, soul and R&B of the 1950s and early '60s.
Yes. It seemed they had something to prove during "The River" tour. I don't think I've seen the band more in tune with one another. I saw them twice in Los Angeles during this tour and the performances were truly transcendental. Bruce and the boys played for about 4 hrs. each concert. Time went by so fast it seemed like it was only about 45 minutes each concert.
I saw them in '76, '78, '80, '84 and '88. When I watch these clips from 1980, what hits me is that they were recorded just before John Lennon was murdered. That was a watershed moment, one that sent us reeling. I already had tickets to see Bruce and the E Street Band a few days later at the Hartford Civic Center, and all I could wish was that Bruce would somehow manage to bring us together and give us the strength to move forward. He did all that and more.
...and how poignant that Lennon was full of praise for "Hungry Heart" in an interview only hours before his death.
I agree, The River tour is peak E Street Band for me! I don't think I've ever seen a bad performance from them, but there's something about this era
Without doubt this was their peak the top of the world n they had swagger. Finally financially stable n in for life with Columbia after this ESB masterpiece The River album. U could see it. This is the tour that started the legend the marathon shows n setlists. The River era for me will always not just be their peak but their Pop music peak as in Disc 2 of Tracks. The River had the best material.
That opening riff alone....amazing!
really.... the count off ...the riff... the way he moves.... his little dance.... the command of the stage... the command of the audience... all before he even starts singing
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band. BEST live act ever.
Springsteen had some class at the end when he played to the seats behind him. I've been in those seats before during his heyday when they were the only seats you could get. When he would turn around occasionally to face us the whole section went nuts!
H is a nice person very human frol
Also h is from NJ USA
Those are the best seats in the house!! Been there many times and felt like I was onstage with him.

He puts everything into it. So thank to have seen them in this era.
That 1980 tour was Bruce at his all-time best. He looks great, the songs are great, he has Clarence "Big Man" Clemons by his side, and one of the greatest live bands behind him...He played 4 nights in L.A., and I was there 3 of them...
I have see him the first Time 1979 in NYC. I love this Man. Greetings from Switzerland.
He has been and still is the Boss. I am speechles.
Unbelievable. No denying each righteous, terrific, hellacious, egregiously bodacious element. Delicious.
We saw him in Anaheim and the man and band blew us away. He was sweating buckets and the band was so tight. Oh what a night.
..What date was that ? 🤔 ...TY
"through the Wisconsin night" in the original lyrics. Springsteen loved performing in my home state.
Mai come in questi giorni di preoccupazione in Italia per il corona virus!!e un piacere vedere Bruce così gioioso!!grazie amico mio!!!😍😍😍😘😘🤼🤼💃💃🕺🏃🎸🎷🎶🎶💯
I was a guest of there stage manager, I couldn't believe how cool it was, no opening act ,played for hour, then back for hour, Cadillac video says it all. That show i say was 1980 St Paul Civic Center.
As Bruce walked to the other side of the catwalk -he took my hat. Anybody have pics/ videos of it would be cool
Koja energija, za respekt.........ne zovu ga dzaba - Boss
How sharp does the big man look in his suit? RIP Clarence. We miss you. We love you.
From the first note of this song I cried. My dad and I listened to song before every football and lacrosse practice for about 5 years of my life. This exact live version and everything. This will always be apart of our relationship and I have Bruce to thank for that.
That's awesome. My dad loved music too and certain songs bring tears to my eyes remembering him. Her died from cancer in October of 2011....just after the World Trade Center attack. A few years later my husband bought me the Green Day American Idiot CD. I was backing out of my driveway the very first time I heard "Wake Me Up When September En9ds" ..... i didn't even make it to the road before I started crying! I have always loved the way Bruce Springsteen can write songs that are both uplifting AND so sad at the same time! His songs really paint vivid pictures and make you think. My favorite album of his is "Nebraska" ......talk about tear jerkers 👀. If a person can listen to that album without tearing up or downright boo hooing there's something wrong with them!
Once I had "My Hometown" playing on my car stereo. My sister was riding with me and we were in our hometown driving around the neighborhood and things kept playing into the song.....a kid chasing a ball, the highschool band practicing, a dog playing fetch and more. We were living a music video! We both just sat quietly and took it all in. It was amazing!
Oh, and my dad's name was Bruce!
Anyway, Springsteen, Steve and Clarence were/are phenomenal ❤
I felt it too
I was there in Tempe - maybe 30 years old. That was the second time I saw the E Street Band. Saw then a bunch more since then. But if I have to remember Bruce one way, that's the way I want to remember him.

Hell, over 39 Years ago & Still Rockin the Cadillac Ranch
Me too
Wow I so agree
This is just amazing! We saw Bruce in Hampden Glasgow in 2013, greatest concert ive ever seen! He played for 3 and a half hours non stop! ❤❤
Just ran across this, unbelievable how he moves and plays! Good times
There is a school of thought that Tempe 1980 is the best live concert ever filmed and this is the best song from that. Ergo this is the greatest filmed live performance ever. It's up there.
Favorite Springsteen song! Thanks Warren Zevon for putting me onto this Springsteen gem.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band does a very good version of this as well. It's just a touch slower and the guitar isn't as raunchy, no sax....but the bassline is more prominent and they added harmonica. Some nice twangy guitar too.
A rare clip of Gary singing. Love the joy in the song.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Bruce knows rocknroll. when him and clarence take that walk staring down the camera , come on , ya gotta love it RIP
Vocal folds like steel, that lad! Amazing.
Incredible pure rock energy!!!!
Best Cadillac song ever 😺
..LOL. ... Bruce's sweet dances there 0:13 during those killer opening 🎸 licks ! 😃 ..He goes from the "Billy 'White Shoes' Johnson TD" 🏈 to a "Dave Matthews Virginia hillbilly hipsway" 0:27 !! 😅 LOVE it !!! 👏 🍻
I won tickets on the radio and saw this tour in Madison Square Garden!!!
Seen 71 shows. 44 in 1984/85.
Congratulations. In 1980 I was only ten year old. I met Bruce in 1983 now with 50 years I am still an unconditional fan of Bruce. There is always a Bruce song that cheers me up in every moment of my life, even the bad ones.there are many concerts lived and it is getting better.
Hope everyone gets to experience a Brruuuuce concert at least once. I saw him in a town that was so small I was embarrassed and grateful they would play. Magnetic Hill. He wore me out....had to watch the last half hour laying down, lol. What energy!
I was there, they played for us as if they were in the great state of New Jersey itself !
I have experienced somewhere around 15 if not more Springsteen concerts over the last 39 years including The RIver tour at MSG in NYC, tehtour which this video came from .
I remember reading that Bruce played at Moncton. I had to look it up.
Well I've only seen him 3 times live
Saw him in Glasgow, 2013. Most spectacular gig I've ever seen, he played non stop for 3 and a half hours
mate you are a truly special human being. thanks for sharing, thanks resonating
What else can a very old man add to all the praise all you dudes have heaped upon this fine video!
I wonder if The Boss ever stops and thinks, "Just how in the hell did I catch lightning in a bottle like this"?
I mean this guy is beyond "Superstar".
There is no adjective to describe his level of talent and determination and success.
He caught it, then kept it for 50 years. It will never be done again!
@@MrATLfalconfan so many of his peers have also, lol who ever thought, good for the fans
I think the word you’re looking for is called ‘transcendent’ 😉

now he gets his bogus dui thrown out too..one more page on his "chosen one"

@@danb6838 considering some of the crap other artists his age have done in their careers, if the worse he has to claim is a dui in the autumn of his life, I’d say he’s doing pretty darn good.
Bruce Springsteen and the E. Street band at the top of their game. I saw them in 1984 he did a three hour sound check and a three hour concert. Well worth the money. ☺️
I was 2 months old when this was recorded. What I wouldn't give to have been born a few decades earlier and to have experienced these early Springsteen tours for myself.
Saw this tour in Los Angeles and only one more time in 2009. My wife and I had hoped to see his planned tour for the album last year but damn covid stopped all of that. I hope he can tour at least one more time, he's getting up there.
I was at this show & it was the first time I saw them. I snuck into the soundcheck and they played over 2 hrs.! It was a totally different set. They played Ring of Fire, which was amazing with the sax. Hank Williams, Thelonious Monk, classics, & none of it was in the show. It was like my own private concert and I LOVED IT! Then I got kicked out & came back for the main show...4 1/2 hrs that changed my life...
WOW!! This is the way Rock is supposed to be. ROCK ON!!!
That my friends is a rock and roll house party jersey style! Their is NO DOUBT why they call him THE BOSS !
Absolutely. Putting on a show for the fans for sure
Bruce is an underrated guitar player.
Very underrated player; he can play the hell out of the guitar
Thank you Boss for every single song, every single word you've shared with us.
Paying tribute to the King with the Elvis look!
Could you imagine those two sharing a stage?
Mindboggling!!!!
Clarence was the man! Rest his soul
Bruce&E Street Is The Real National Treasury!
This is rock and roll.... Damn !! I saw him in around 2006 and he was less 'active'..
I feel lucky just to have shared the planet with this guy. He's come through for me year in and year out.
Kudos to you
One of my favourite BS&TESB songs!
I could never tire of this......utterly sublime....
What a performance.
Why have I never seen this before??? Bruce an The Big Man at their best, god I miss him!
Just came to town last week shame I couldn’t go, hope it’s not the last time he comes
I love this Man. The Bosssss!!❤️❤️🇨🇭
Bruce’s happiness shows in his music, fun and dance everyoone😎
ONLY 40 YEARS LATER AND IT STILL "SMOKES" ANYTHING OUT THERE SINCE!!!! HAPPY 2020 TO ALL... REAL CLASSIC ROCK PERFORMANCE... SIMPLY THE BEST... I SAW BRUCE IN 1985 IN INDIANAPOLIS... ONLY 3 HOURS 40 MINUTES... BANK THAT ONE BOYS & GIRLS!!!
Love the way Bruce interacts with the band
that initial lick is top 5 all time classic
I have just spent a afternoon listening to THE MESSIAH cannot wait for June 2023 . This is the best song ever. Thanks for making people happy Bruce. All enjoy the music and keep on rocking.
1st - I absolutely love Bruce. He's plays his guitar REALLY well here. I didn't go thru the comments, & it's probably out there already, but after many veiws, it ALWAYS gets me (I have to chuckle a BIT), but starting at 4:08 to 4:18, I feel like he is maybe trying to steal my soul or possibly to hypnotize me!! He looks REALLY INTENSE!! LOL!! I LOVE IT!! It's GR8 & I always watch till the end!!
The greatest rock and roll band of all time.
Keith: (just grinning)
Sheer fun!
Really awesome song and performance. Saw him do it in 1984-85 tour. Huge energy. Classic.
Definitely one of the greatest rock songs and performances ever.
All the instruments and vocals come together in perfect music unison.
Astonishing.
Is it the greatest though?
I just cant say.
❤❤👍👍
My main memories of The Boss are from Capital Radio London. In 1980, The River album was released. you could call Capital Radio and nominate a track to be played. Well, as far as I can recall, every track that was nominated from the album was played and became number one in their playlist. I bought the album and I think it has been my favourite down the years. I saw him once in London in the mid 90's. Four hours of magical music!
Fast forward to 2018. We are now living in France. I would be sixty in June of that year. I dropped several hints about tickets to see him again for my birthday.
My birthday came, but the tickets didn't. My family thought that I would get them myself!
I plan to see him again, Covid permitting!
Sick! 42 years ago!???????????? 🙂
Inarrivabile.
He just blew the shit out of Arizona again tonight 2024. 🌵🌵🌵
As a newcomer a year and a half ago, I was afraid of this (wilderness), I admit, but now I know that Bruce and his guitar are so beautifully wildly connected that even this Cadillac Ranch got a place in my heart. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't wish for Bruce to be healthy, happy, and for his most secret hidden dream or wish to come true. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything he composed, he sang, that he has such a beautiful heart in the palm of his hand for his family and for his fans. MEGA THANKS for that. I love your music and will for as long as I live...🌹
So talented, great songwriter Great songwriter unbelievable good music Bruce springsteen is the besttalented great songwriter, great songs unbelievable unbelievable good music Bruce Springsteen is the best
Uh, I take it you like this guy; don't sugar coat it kiddo, say what you mean. Lol.....great stuff Bruce
The greatest rock’n’roll machine ever.
This is one of, if not THE ultimate roadhouse song.
I wish i could write a song like this and perform like this, but no one is as cool as Bruce
No words...it’s Bruce...
we used to play this as our last song of the night when our band played and it always had the crowd go crazy....Cheers boss!!!
Two nights in a row in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl, circa '85. Second night I got in on an unused ticket from the previous night. E Street Band = The Greatest Show On Earth...
I was there the second night. It was the greatest show I have ever seen. He made that giant stadium seem intimate. There are a few bands I like better but not live. I used to usher at concerts and then worked for a music distributor where I got free tickets to almost every show I wanted to see. Not bragging. Just saying I've seen lots of shows in my life and that was the best.
My mother passed away when I was 10 in 71,I saw a psychic and she said if I ever hear a song about Cadillacs it meant she was near me,so 13 years ago we were in Wyoming at Bluetooth pass and we were on our motorcycle and that song came on we were about 12,000 feet high on a mountain and I got goose bumps, well w days ago that song came on the radio and I instantly knew it was my mom which she owned a 1960 pink Cadillac, I am a believer.
This was the 1st tour I ever saw from Bruce and I have seen every one since. Love him.
I use to play Bruce so much when I was a kid, that my mom even though not a fan, knew every lyric and tune of his songs Lmao!!!
I have always loved this song, because the music is so simple, yet just perfecto!!
A finely tuned machine.
Like never before and not since.
Would give my left you-know-what to see Bruce live!
I saw them on this tour at The Spectrum in Philly a month after this concert. Sat second row from the top, still had a great time.
straycatttt I was at the Spectrum concert as well. Near the end, 2 guys jumped up in the stage to get near Bruce, and I remember thinking at the time that if they meant to harm Bruce, they could have done so right there. After the concert, driving back home to Jersey, the radio is reporting the shocking news of the shoring of John Lennon. From sheer bliss to pure shock.
S Romeri, Bruce may have played four or five Spectrum shows that week. I may have been at the one the night before the Lennon assassination. The night after your concert, Bruce paid tribute to Lennon by opening with “Twist and Shout.”
straycatttt Good Memory! I remember Bruce doing Santa Claus is Coming To Town and Clarence was in the Santa suit. The best Bruce concerts I ever saw were in that time frame....late 70's & early 80's
This is fantastic. Bruce opened back up in Arizona tonight. Tasty footage
No words to describe this.... Magic may be close...❤❤❤
Bruce is the Boss and the E Street Band are his Equal. Love this so much
Really hard to believe that Adam Scott, famous Hollywood actor from productions such as Parks and Recreation, Severance and Torque, reviles this song so much. I never thought he'd be full of that much hate.
Typically Adam Scott conversation about Bruce Springsteen:
"Is this Cadillac Ranch?"
"Yes"
"Fuck you"
Greatest rock and roll show ever
We will always say Bruce is the best
