    I remember when my dad finished restoring his 1965 Corvette he took me out on the first drive, and when he pulled onto the highway he put this song on; it’s a memory I’ll never forget the sound of the V8 and the sound of Dire Straits one of my all-time favourite moments with my dad

At least he got to see me partner up with the true founder of MTV. Nyhl Henson has become family to me. He's filling in as my care giver and business partner as I'm autistic. This was my favorite song growing up my dad used to play me on the way to school in his 1982 Datsun Maxima. God bless all the cool dads we had in the 80s who blessed us with such great music. Amen. I thought U2, Dire Straits and Queen were the standouts at Wembley. U2 changed the tone of the day when they came on and played "Sunday Bloody Sunday", they were the first act that day to have real weight and presence on stage. Dire Straits had the best musicianship, and gave the tightest performance of the day. Queen, well they had Freddie, even though he wasn't at his best vocally, and the band played good, but nothing out of this world...it was all about his showmanship, and onstage charisma to involve the crowd. Ultravox, Sade and Nik Kershaw played very good sets also.

    Dire Straits have been acknowledged as one of the most intelligent and original bands of their era. As the creation of Mark Knopfler, they successfully blended blues-based influences along with country and rock into an instantly timeless mix of atmospheric album tracks, combined with populist, catchy and massive-selling singles. Although they will rightly always be remembered for their sixth studio album, Brothers In Arms, there is so much more to discover in their discrete, influential catalogue.

      I’m 52 years old, and I couldn’t disagree more. We have a lot of great music, of course, but we also had a lot of real crap that no one remembers or talks about. And that’s true of every era. The 60s have the Beatles and The Who, but they also had the Doodletown Pipers. The 70s had the Eagles and Led Zeppelin, but they also gave us the Osmonds. In the 80s we had Van Halen and Dire Straits, but we also had vanilla ice. Today there are some truly amazing bands like Tame Impala and Warpaint. The reality is that every decade produces a small amount of great music and a ton of crap that is quickly disposed of. But everyone believes that the music they were listening to between the ages of 15 and 24 is the best music of all time because it’s the soundtrack of their lives. It doesn’t matter if you were 15, 50, or 80: the music of your late teens will always be at the top of your playlist.

      Money for nothing 1978

      Brother in arms 1985
      They all recorded at Path ways studio in North London.
      It's all about Pub Rock type of music which is a traditional way of life for the musicians to be famous slowly.
      Many British Bands They began playing at the pubs around England
      Such as Led zeppelin
      Beatles
      Queen
      Etc.
      Presently Keane- Cold play etc.
      Rest are balloons comes and goes Like Pet shop boys, Culture club, etc.

    • @spacejockey4746
      @spacejockey4746 5 лет назад +60

      Not really. While finger style playing is less common in rock, many country and jazz players (Wes Montgomery) do amazing things without a pick. The same goes for players like the late Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, Lindsey Buckingham, and Jeff Beck. Of course, classical players use only their fingers.

    • @nikitach8602

    • @roadie3124
      @roadie3124 5 лет назад +16

      I agree. He's said that it's easier and faster to use a pick. Many times when he's using a pick, he uses the other three fingers. Sometimes it's pick only and sometimes it's finger picking. He uses the tools he needs to get the sound he wants. He's not an average guitar player. Willie (there's only one Willie) Nelson also uses pick and fingers. Check out Leo Kottke, Chet Atkins, Tommy Emmanuel, Roy Clark, etc.
