I saw him in Chicago in the early fall of 1980. Four and half hours, 3 encores. I was 20 years old and….Maybe more tired out than him. He was all over the stage, jumping, sliding, super natural performance and effort. A night embedded in my mind forever. At 32 years old you got a mix of his earlier stuff to the evolvement predictable ahead. It was a glorious time to be there.
It must have been a great time to know his music and to be able to see him live. He always lays himself out for his audience. He and Steve still make an awesome duo. Love this posting❤❤❤❤
@@LisaHill-LisasVintageFun I remember being completely exhausted after a 3 1/2 hour show. My buddy and I drove up from Tucson (we were UofA students) and we both needed to be in class the next day. The house lights came up, everybody was leaving and Bruce and the ESB came out for ANOTHER encore with all the lights on. I think it was "Devil With the Blue Dress". It was amazing.
This is heaven or what? Nobody tops Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band on is peak, for me is the best live act of all the time , and maybe this will be the best visual and audio document of all the lives concerts MASTERPIECE
Brings energy like no other. Hands down best stage rocker alive. There is a bit of pain rollin the tracks my way and know I will end up in garage blowing old Denon amplifiers
My first Bruce concert was this tour in Oakland, CA. It immediately became my crack, and I've seen him 100+ times since. In 84 I got incredibly lucky and got pulled onstage for Dancing in the Dark. Like an Olympic gold medal winner, my life has been all downhill ever since, drowning in memories of "Glory Days" with Bruce onstage at the Sports Arena in LA. Amazing video of this great song, can't wait for my pre-ordered boxed set!!!
It is hard for recent fans to appreciate the whirlwind effect this man had on all who attended those early concerts especially the River Tour.He sings the same songs now with most of the E Street Band although not Clarence but he can never recreate those performances which left us wanting more as he literally swept us out of our seats to dance in the aisles until we, like him, were exhausted.Glory Days indeed !
It is incredible that Bruce and the band are still rocking in 2023. But, I saw a video filmed in Fla. of this song recorded a couple of days ago. Really good, but it felt I was watching the RUclips video at 3/4 playback speed. Watch that video and you will know what I am talking about. Still excellent, though.
❤️Absolutely Fantastic performance! I can not stop listening to this song! What energy! Beautiful voice! This song makes me happy! Fantastic version! Thank you!❤️
I was there to. 2/81. Drove from the Univ. of Florida to Lakeland civic Center. 1st night. They played 2 nights. Then went to Jacksonville. It was pandemonium.
'You've just seen...the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, Viagra-taking, love-making LEGENDARY E STREET BAND!" I got my "Bruce Baptism" on The River Tour!!
+Sonny Young October 27, 1980, Oakland Coliseum, then back again the following night, then 3 more nights that weekend at LA Sports Arena, then more than 100 since, I long since lost count. But one unforgettable night, Nov. 4th, 1984, he pulled me onstage for Dancing in the Dark at that same Sports Arena. Years after that, my best friend and her family became friends with his family, and she took me backstage many times. 27 years after my 1984 dance, again at the Sports Arena, I had him autograph a photo I have from that dance. A couple of weeks ago, I saw all 3 of his concerts at the Sports Arena, now forever closed and about to be torn down. So many amazing memories there. Was so sad to leave for the last time.
I was so blessed to see this concert in Arizona in 1980...so blessed beyond words..the best concert I have ever seen - there's nothing that compares to this awesome excellence :)
The best on stage - Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band. I can hardly wait for the River Collection! We´re missing you, Bruce. Greetings from São Paulo, Brazil.
Dec 1, 1980. Rochester War Memorial. Snowed like hell. They opened the back stage doors and played Santa Claus is Coming to Town with snow blowing onto the stage. Greatest show on earth.
Wow wow wow. Its the second best show . Bruce is God. Is positive energy. Is Love. Is the best of the best. Is pure energy. BruceSpringsteen forever.🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
You know...I saw several shows on this tour some thirty-seven (now thirty-eight...tick-tick-tick) years ago. It was packed away amongst the buzzes and pops that routinely run through my memory. I’ve seen countless performers perform since then and was lulled into the coma inducing industry that we now call popular music. Then...this little gem pops up on my interweb device. What a flipping terrific show! The music scene was so great back then and (I’m sorry but the truth is the truth) is total and complete pile of toxic waste today! Why?!!! Frankly I’d rather listen to Yoko scream into a tomato can for a couple hours than listen to the auto-Mctuned pablum that gets a billion hits on YouScrewedMusicTube! Where did Milli Vanilli go right? Imagine a Live Aid show with nobody born before 1985! Wouldn’t that be a hootenanny! I can see the future...it’s grim baby grim. But...you can always pipe some of this kind of stuff through the dusty caverns of your eardrums. As a great Canadian philosopher once said: “If I’ve got to go down I’m gonna’ go down rockin’!” (Bryan Adams) PS: Could someone tell that Elon Musk dude to stop wasting time with flamethrowers and cars and invent a time machine that resets to 1980 every morning!
+Stijn Teekens what do you mean? When you went to the Bruce concert people jumped for a train? How does that have to do with loving this music (your original comment)? I'm confused!

Exactly my experience and thoughts. Just substitute Los Angeles for Chicago. It was a magical night.
You lucky sod! 😀

I was there. Stage left, about 30 feet from Clarence. Simply best rock and roll show I ever saw.
I was there, too! Best concert!

People forget, Bruce was enigmatic in 1980. Love the River best of all.
Seventeen years old, front row, center stage, Lakeland Civic Center.
I was not front row, but I also saw my first Bruce show when I was 17 in 1984.
Well done, my friends
I was there to. 2/81. Drove from the Univ. of Florida to Lakeland civic Center. 1st night. They played 2 nights. Then went to Jacksonville. It was pandemonium.
17 years old, a few rows back, at the Capitol Center, Landover, MD. F’ing amazing! 😍
@@dannjacobson3400I was 17, too…In 1980, The River Tour!
Springsteen is like a drug, i can't get enough of him. Look at his face...he just loves being on that stage!!
I agree. He is loving every second
And that's why we love him and the E Street Band so much!! Such genuine enthusiasm and joy for the music and the fans.
'You've just seen...the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, Viagra-taking, love-making LEGENDARY E STREET BAND!" I got my "Bruce Baptism" on The River Tour!!
+Sonny Young SO did I. In Barcelona, 1981, 21st April
+Jose Luis I'm envious! Dave Marsh says that was the best show he's ever seen.
+Sonny Young In Montreal, January 1981! 4 hours of heart-stopping Bruuuuce!
+Sonny Young Same here.. December 15, 1980 in the old Boston Garden. I havent missed a tour yet!!

The best it gets ..Live or Studio. This song rocks
Ich vergöttere diesen unglaublichen Musiker und Menschen seit 1979. Es wird so bleiben für ewig!!❤
The RIVER ALBUM OF MANY COLOURD
It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Bruce Springsteen started writing some gospel music. He has them in the palm of his hand.
the best part of all of the boss's music is he is enjoying himself and that's what we need in life someone with passion
je lis son autobiographie et du coup je comprend et j'adore merci pour cette énergie toujours renouvelée
1980-1981 Buce & The E Steet Band on there peak! There is simply no other tour beter than the River tour.
Never been anybody better before him and definitely not anyone since!
love the "wait a minute" beginning to this. love everything about it really . awsomeness.
That was funny!!😂
SPRINGSTEEN FOREVER!!
Dec 1, 1980. Rochester War Memorial. Snowed like hell. They opened the back stage doors and played Santa Claus is Coming to Town with snow blowing onto the stage. Greatest show on earth.

Awesome tour, saw it in Seattle.
These older videos are awesome!
What a remarkable display!
Best tour ever!..period
This is my new favorite version of Ramrod. I like the faster tempo better than when he seems to be trudging through the song.
Calvin Maynard wait a minute!!!!!
😁💋💋💋💋
totally agree here it seems so fresh .whilst over the years its become rather stale and predictable and overlong
Back when Bruce was still THE BOSS, now he's just The Boss.
This guy is the BOSS! Long Live to the E-Street Band and Springsteen! The truly rock´n roll still lives!
Wait a minute and a year bruce!
