Absolutely loved Bruce, my abusive husband didn’t let me attend this concert, 20 bucks back in the day but Bruce gave me the backbone to live every day, I’m free now
Bruce still lived and felt the songs then. Now he performs better than anyone, harder, but he is giving us that feeling he still had for those songs in 1980.
I love Bruce's music but I will never agree with his politics. People who don't have to live with these animals criminals murderers everyday and night. They don't get it Bruce used to get it. But I guess since he doesn't deal with it. I mean right in your face every single day and night. You are never going to get it. Worked for 27 years had to get back surgeries spinal fusion laminectomies. Insurance companies will not let any place give me a job cause of the surgeries. On social security but I still have to pay for everything health insurance. But don't ever work you get everything you need and want. Now with all these people coming in the country illegal. Now they are getting whatever they need and want. Everything is ASS BACKWARDS IN AMERICA AND IT HAS TO BE FIXED. CAREER POLITICIANS HAVE TO GO. SO YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN BRUCE'S POLITICS ARE ASS BACKWARDS. IF YOU ARE STILL WORKING PAYING TAXES FOR YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY YOU ALL WILL SEE JUST WANT I AM TALKING ABOUT.
This is the sentimental common fate side of Born to Run - these two songs are, in my view, two of the best rock songs ever written. Love them, love Bruce.
Oh Bruce unmake my crappy life alive every time I listen to you just save my depression and help my soul Seriously man! From Debbie muckle Newcastle upon Tyne North East England,
"BRUUUUUUUCE! BRUUUUUUUCE! BRUUUUUUUCE!" Happy 72nd Birthday for yesterday, and thank you for the songs you've wrote that have got me through life, all 40 years of it. Need to see you live again soon. They don't call you "The Boss" for nothing 🎸🎶🖤
Can't get enough of this song or Bruce and the E St Band. I saw Jimi, I saw Janis, I saw the Stones, all in live concert, but nothing compares to Bruce. He is the epitome of Rock N Roll. Backstreets (with Sad Eyes), ThunderCrack, 10th Avenue Freeze out - how can I pick a favorite. Love him forever! He gives it all, every time, every performance. Thank you, Bruce!
With Badlands, Racing in the Streets and No Surrender one of my favorite songs. I really like the earlier live performances. They were more powerful than today.
I was at this concert November 5,1980 at the Arizona State University Activity Center in Tempe, Arizona and this was 1 of 33 songs performed, and I have the "Born To Run" CD with this song on it - RIP Clarence Clemons - Brett Smith
Awesome. But Bruce (or, more likely, his people) uploaded this over a year ago and it only has about 50,000 views and 30 comments. Well, I'll make a comment. Bruce Springsteen is possibly the greatest song-writer, but certainly in the top handful, and absolutely the best live performer since the invention of amplification. He once said he wanted to play guitar like Duane Eddy. Man, you can sure hear the twang of this full-band performance of one his iconic songs. I think this Tempe River show is the first professionally filmed video of his career. It's a shame that none of the 1978 shows were filmed with this level of color and sound quality. I'd love to see Winterland, or Cleveland, or Passaic, or the Roxy. I saw him in Atlanta on 9/3078 and 10/1/78. Just electric. But Tempe is great, too. In fact, every show is either great, or better. Thank you, Bruce, thank you Bruce's people, especially the E Street band.
Dude, as I like to say ... STFU. We LIVED this, you SHUT THE FUCK UP, clueless in Seattle I guess they (we) say? Seriously dude, shut the fuck up, you would''t have a clue if you were paid for it,. STFU.
It's amazing how much he's sung over the years and honed this song into what it is today, and why do we have to get old? I don't want him to grow old...
One of my friends moms grew up in Jersey back in the early 70's and saw Springsteen at the Stone Pony and Student Prince dozens of times.. she said that when she watched him play live she always knew that it was special and that eventually the masses were gonna hear about him and it wouldn't be just 60 or 70 people watching but tens of thousands.. she also claimed that Springsteen had a "presence" around him.. "she said you could feel his ora and she knew he'd be a star".
At the time of this show takin place The River album had just hit #1 of 4 weeks US wide and Top 10 in about 8-10 countries plus Hungry Heart entered the Top 10 n their tour had hit #1 n would wind up Top 3 for the yr and top 20 for the decade. FINALLY from 3,000 halls to multiple nites of 18-22,000 hockey arenas. Finally commercially, critically, financially ontop of the world. True champions well deserved!
Ponekad kad hoću da požurim sa svojim komentarem o mom kralju ne mogu ni slovo da nadjem koje mi treba, a da nepišem o pogrešno napisanim rečima. Hvala vam što ih ipak pročitate, a i razumete.
THE BEST classic live performance of "Thunder Road" on RUclips with the full band.... Anyone else get emotional when he motioned the late Clarence Clemons to come to the front of the stage with him? Loved how Bruce jumped on top of the risers and slide across the stage towards the end too. You never know when an exceptional performance is gonna strike. Could be in Madison Square Garden or Tempe XD
Simply the best tour best E Street Band album best era. Stevie's fingerprints all over this album as Co-producer with BS n JL. ALL the pop n power pop that made it to this album plus the 7-9 classics on Disc 2 of Tracks my 2nd favorite album of all time lol. Where the Bands Are, I wanna be with you, Take em as they come etc ALL Stevie. Springsteen in summer of 79 on a huge Raspberries and Cheap Trick kick out to master the 3 minute all chorus n hook lite on verses formula of Pop n Power Pop n it showed on the lighter numbers. But this historic tour with the 2 set plus encores almost 4 hour shows the 30 song setlist the band showcased at the peak of the end of an incredible trilogy of albums finally 2015 it got it's just dues. And this to close put the first set just incredible. My favorite era of the band. FINALLY out of debt small fortune in the bank swagger secure with Columbia just it all fit perfectly. The band ruled n hit it's 2nd of many peaks after 75 n yes 78 but this tour was epic.
It's hard to believe that this was 30 years ago this year and he STILL has the same energy live. No one will ever match him. They are too concerned about the money they have to make. The Boss just steamrolled you.
The River tour blew me away in Philly and dig it wherever I see clips from elsewhere. But the fans around the tri- state area who have known all the guys in the band know that at this point in Tempe his voice is starting to get a little rough.I’m gonna repeat a comment I made a while back.I said something like only the people from Philly and Jersey know what it’s like to see Bruce and the band in their young beginnings. We would pay $1.50 to see them at the Erlton bowling alley, the Headliner in Neptune, the Main Point in Bryn Maur, or when they became really “famous”,they would open for somebody big at the Spectrum,(Chicago) and we would leave when they were done.It didn’t take long for the boys to become real big and of course we were glad to share them with the rest of the world.R. I. P. Ed Shiacky of WMMR and prayers to the E Streeters who have left us,(never). Peace, RockyP.S. always known it, but never mentioned that we share a birthday, Sept. 23,not bad “karma
I sent a letter to Bruce’s management team to do a rooftop concert at the old Main Point in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, but I got no response! 😆 It could’ve and should’ve been as epic as the Beatles’ rooftop concert!!!
They once went one more time around with the sax solo during this n The Rising Tour I thought it was me but nope saw it on RUclips I loved it even more it for better for the big ending to end the first set of this tour.
I've always felt the unplugged rendition of this song suited the lyrics way better; like I love this version too but the more upbeat music I feel kinda detracts from the solemnity and desperation of the story
Lol.. its funny when i watch those 1978 shows the Audience is literally jumping and clapping and screaming the lyrics... everyone seemed thin and was FULL OF ENERGY!! What happened to America nowadays?? Most Audiences just sit there looking obese and having NO ENERGY?? What happened to America in 2020?? I live in Switzerland now and honestly i almost NEVER see anyone obese... and if i do... there 100% of the time American.. not sure why though???
Absolutely loved Bruce, my abusive husband didn’t let me attend this concert, 20 bucks back in the day but Bruce gave me the backbone to live every day, I’m free now
After all these years he's still the boss
Bruce still lived and felt the songs then. Now he performs better than anyone, harder, but he is giving us that feeling he still had for those songs in 1980.
There’ll never ever be a song like Thunder Road
Happy 70th birthday, Bruce! The best representative of good America, a true hero!
I used to think that……..not so sure anymore…..
I love Bruce's music but I will never agree with his politics. People who don't have to live with these animals criminals murderers everyday and night. They don't get it Bruce used to get it. totally agree! Singing this one every morning ;-)

I agree…I can never pick one favorite song but this video is pretty convincing for Thunder Road.
this was days after I first saw him at Oakland CA in October 1980. It changed my life
Oh oh oooh thunder road, thunder road... Ohhhhh 😍🥰❤️Bruce🙏
THE best song ever written
With Badlands, Racing in the Streets and No Surrender one of my favorite songs. I really like the earlier live performances. They were more powerful than today.
The piano work and the jam at the end of Racing In The Streets on Live 75-85 is fantastic.
Bruce is at least 70 years old now. Cut him some slack.
I've taken Bruce Springsteen with me on every journey I've taken since I was 17. Damn that's been good company.
This is one of those tunes that consistently makes me get teary-eyed. I think it's Bruce's best song.
Definitely my favorite.
Does anyone else tear up to this song? Oh the past makes me happy😁😁😁
Greatest live rock performer ever....!
Epic Masterpiece. I wish he would play this on the 2023 tour in Germany. I love the early songs more than the newer ones.
He played for us in Orlando. Chances for you are looking good
Just back from Newark nj concert. Set list will make you very happy. Great show but nothing beats the 1980 River tour shows I went to
Ja ich denke er wird es auf der Tour in Deutschland spielen. Bin auch dabei in München!!
Hoffe ich auch. Bin in Hamburg dabei
it'll be part of the encore. (saw him in Baltimore and will see him again in Munich in July).
This must be the most epic concert ever
He empties the tank, every time...
Just a huge thank you Bruce and the É. Street Band for everything you gave me, not knowing me. 😃💙💙💙
I was at this concert November 5,1980 at the Arizona State University Activity Center in Tempe, Arizona and this was 1 of 33 songs performed, and I have the "Born To Run" CD with this song on it - RIP Clarence Clemons - Brett Smith

I'd loved to have seen those 1978 shows. I'm just a few years too young.
It's amazing how much he's sung over the years and honed this song into what it is today, and why do we have to get old? I don't want him to grow old...
When The Boss goes to make the guitar talk you can't help but smile....mad talented with that thing 💯💯
Saw this tour in Birmingham UK, to this day one of the best concerts I have ever seen. Just can't believe its 40 years ago, where did that time go.
The incomparable Mr Springsteen.....absolutely in a class of his own. Greatest ever songwriter and live performer as far as I am concerned.
El mejor del universo entero
Samo ti umeš da napraviš pravu atmosveru kralju.

Nobody ever left one of his shows feeling cheated.
I saw this tour as a 16 year old and still remember the excitement and joy of it. I think it would be just as exciting to hear it again live.
You're lucky. I would have loved to see that tour!
💗❤💗❤Definitivo: la più bella di Bruce.
This song always gives me chills... one of many greatest songs
Saw Bruce in Jacksonville,Fl for the first time this tour. Great show.

having a birthday party! This hits hard , like it's supposed to. Thanks for a life time, worth it !
one word unbelievable
Beautiful final notes by Clarence. I wasn't expecting that!
Big Man was about as iconically central to this band as Boss is. I miss him like a severed limb.
Elemental for sure!!
It's hard to believe that this was 30 years ago this year and he STILL has the same energy live. No one will ever match him. They are too concerned about the money they have to make. The Boss just steamrolled you.
Just EPIC ❣️
Storico! Non c sono altre parole
this song is so stuck in my head and i love it its so well performed by bruce and he is full of energy
Wow! Those were the days! A young Bruce Springsteen and a young E. Street Band full blast. What a performance! Stunning! 👏👏👏👏
Toner sur la route, il nous avais bien prévenu pourtant. Merci Big Man, sans qui rien ne serai arrivé.

The boss is sounding a bit croaky, but this song is still a masterpiece. The lyrics could be the basis for a movie plot.
