We were in the same performance group, the same youth group, and we were did "Godspell" together - she played lead-guitar, and I played the "floozy" character ... SO much fun! We knew, then, that she was going places. I got to see her again, 3 years ago, when she played at the Oregon State Fair ... I got to invite several of my children to meet back-stage, prior to the show. She's as real as she seems to be. Pure gold heart.

This is my favorite Bruce song of all time. I cannot tell you how many times I have put in on full blast with the liner notes and sung this song as loud as I could with tears streaming down my face. This is a song about youth and the great journey ahead but as an older man, it is also about the journey taken and just how special it is to have such a gorgeous song to bookend a life well lived.

Bruce came out alone with his acoustic guitar for the 2nd encore and played this song. Just Bruce and 65,000 fans, yet it felt like he was singing this song only to each an every one of us. It brought tears to my eyes.

My dad introduced me to Bruce’s music when I was young and it took me until I was about 12 to truly appreciate his music . I’m 19 now and I’m still listening.
I have a 7 yr old daughter. Her mother, my wife, sings to her each night as she falls asleep. My wife went on a business trip, so I was obviously put in charge of getting my daughter to bed. For three consecutive nights I softly sang "Thunder Road" in its entirety to my daughter as she slowly fell asleep. When my wife returned from her trip, the first morning back while eating breakfast, my wife asked my daughter "Did Daddy sing to you at night to help you fall asleep?" My daughter replied; "No". He read some poem about a girl named Mary who wanted to run away from home because she wasn't happy and thought it would be better somewhere else" A 7 yrs old's interpretation of "Thunder Road". Brought a tear to my eye, but that's exactly what it is ...poetry.

I was at a Springsteen concert in DC (one of many that I have attended). Some people on the first tier unfurled a banner that said "lesbians love Bruce." He yelled back "I love you, too." A man and a poet of love of humanity. He has written and performed so many great songs. And Etheridge, "You Can Sleep While I Drive" is such a great love song. Love to them both. The best.

Me in May, having watched all the posts from his latest tour in Ireland and the U.K. This popped up after listening to Thunder Road played in Ireland. I’ve watched it before, so l know it’s a good mixture of voices. Bruce is such a kind and supportive man. But fast forward to 2012 in Hyde Park London and it is Bruce’s turn to be very excited to have HIS hero, Paul McCartney, on stage and singing with him!❤❤❤❤❤❤

I saw him in Mobile, AL, on his Born to Run tour. At 7:55, the band was on stage tuning up. At 8:01, Bruce came out, and they didn't stop for 4 hours. Best concert ever, and I've seen hundreds.

I first heard Melissa Etheridge when I was queuing to buy a cd, it was playing over the sound system in the music shop. It was a long queue and I was absolutely blown away by the music, it was 'Your Little Secret'. When I got to the check out I bought a copy of that cd as well. That was over 20 years ago and I still have the cd and I still love it. I happened across this youtube contribution in much the same way, I was looking for something and happened across this. I thought I'd give it a listen and was absolutely blown away again. Two voices working together in perfection. It has given me a shudder of delight in a way that music hasn't done for quite some time and brought a few tears to my eye due to the memories that Thunder Road has brought back. Fell in love with The Boss' music when I was 19 driving to the army service every weekend listening to the Born in the USA album on tape because it touched my soul. For three consecutive nights I softly sang "Thunder Road" in its entirety to my daughter as she slowly fell asleep.
When my wife returned from her trip, the first morning back while eating breakfast, my wife asked my daughter "Did Daddy sing to you at night to help you fall asleep?"
My daughter replied;
"No". He read some poem about a girl named Mary who wanted to run away from home because she wasn't happy and thought it would be better somewhere else"

Brought a tear to my eye, but that's exactly what it is ...poetry.

I was at a Springsteen concert in DC (one of many that I have attended). Some people on the first tier unfurled a banner that said "lesbians love Bruce." He yelled back "I love you, too." A man and a poet of love of humanity. He has written and performed so many great songs. And Etheridge, "You Can Sleep While I Drive" is such a great love song. Love to them both. The best.
Never heard of Melissa before this. The harmonies Melissa brings with her voice and guitar. Is nothing short of breathtaking.
Oh man, I hope this sent you checking out Melissa. She's incredible. Been a fan since her first album and she's so great live. A genuine storyteller and gifted performer.

Me in May, having watched all the posts from his latest tour in Ireland and the U.K. This popped up after listening to Thunder Road played in Ireland. I’ve watched it before, so l know it’s a good mixture of voices. Bruce is such a kind and supportive man. But fast forward to 2012 in Hyde Park London and it is Bruce’s turn to be very excited to have HIS hero, Paul McCartney, on stage and singing with him!❤❤❤❤❤❤

I actually taped this live on a VHS tape I still have. Happy to see it on u-tube...one of my favorite versions of this song and I treasure it!
It is indeed a fabulous version of this song. I go back to it often. You have great taste, taping it off the TV back then and treasuring it. Etheridge and Springsteen are both great and their voices go together perfectly.
Bruce is definitely one of the iconic singer songwriter performers in rock n roll history. He is on my list along with Bob Dylan.

I saw him in Mobile, AL, on his Born to Run tour. At 7:55, the band was on stage tuning up. At 8:01, Bruce came out, and they didn't stop for 4 hours. Best concert ever, and I've seen hundreds.
First heard his music as a 14 yo in 1972. It's been a life changing ride.

I first heard Melissa Etheridge when I was queuing to buy a cd, it was playing over the sound system in the music shop. It was a long queue and I was absolutely blown away by the music, it was 'Your Little Secret'. When I got to the check out I bought a copy of that cd as well. That was over 20 years ago and I still have the cd and I still love it.
I happened across this youtube contribution in much the same way, I was looking for something and happened across this. I thought I'd give it a listen and was absolutely blown away again. Two voices working together in perfection. It has given me a shudder of delight in a way that music hasn't done for quite some time and brought a few tears to my eye due to the memories that Thunder Road has brought back. Thank you Melissa Etheridge and Bruce Springsteen for singing this together and thank you to Maria Ramalho for posting it here.

Tears well in my eyes every time I hear the line "What else can we do now, except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair?". It's such a beautiful, carefree, triumphant line full of youthful energy and hope. We don't know where this adventure is going to take us, but we'll never find out if we don't take that first step, that leap of faith into the unknown..... Bruce Springsteen is a treasure.

I saw him in a 3000 seat college gym when he was still largely unknown, and the place wasn't even half full. I still rank it among the 3 best concerts I ever saw.

Fell in love with The Boss' music when I was 19 driving to the army service every weekend listening to the Born in the USA album on tape because it touched my soul. The love with his music only grew throughout my life and now some 30+ yrs later I feel it touching deeper then ever. Bruce, you will always be the Best for me.
Have had the absolute pleasure of seeing Melissa Etheridge twice. Once with her band and once totally solo. Both were fantastic.
