In a world full of S550 content the Gen1 love is awesome. I feel like as this channel has aged the informative videos and streams have gotten so much clearer and concise with the presentation of the information. I truly have learned so much that I feel I couldn't have gotten outside of a masterclass. At this point when I want to know something about tuning or performance regarding coyote Mustangs this is the place I come to, whether it be watching a video or busting out laughing during a stream. More videos like this could become a bible for creating a roadmap to build a monster track car or a great street car. I personally would love to see more videos like this one on boosted applications and the pros and cons for both on a Gen1. Keep up the good work!
Thanks to this dude and his high caliber knowledge of Coyotes…not very many cars wanna dig race…I still haven’t decided if I should boost, hell I really don’t enjoy roll races anyway…appreciate all your info bro!
This video is great. I have a 14 gen 1 and so does my brother. Been following your advice for a long time. I appreciate you putting this information out there.
Great advice! My 14 went 12.89 with pmas, cat deletes and tune but on a 275 Firestone Firehawk tire. Probably could have gone low 12s but didn't want to hurt the stock clutch
What was the mph? People always talk et but without mph it doesn't tell us much. If you ran 12.89 at 110 that is good if u ih went 12.89 at 120 that sucks and means you need to get out better. 60 foot tells all. The better it is better et will be but mph doesn't change alot which is why it's important to know.
Alex has helped me with my peasant N/A lol i did exactly what he said in this video and the car really surprises people. Especially when i put stg 3 SR cams and boss springs.
I think the Gen 1s will win out every time in a manual mod for mod comparison, the SRA and S197 chassis is just lighter and better for drag racing from what I’ve seen.

I was just looking at doing this swap into a S197 with a Gen 1. Your opinion on sourcing the engine, F-150 vs Mustang Gen 1, which would be better to buy. Some say stay away from the F-150 due to often lack of maintenance being that it is a truck. The manifold and the cams in the F-150 vs the one in the Mustang, also the cams in each. Also, what type of price point and mileage to look at when purchasing these Gen 1 or all for that matter engines. EXCELLENT video. This is where there should be a multiplier option for the like button.
@@YDBT4LIFE thank you for the video. Very informative😊. What about fuel pump like DW400 for NA gen1 mustang or even supercharged ones ? Do you recommend with the list you mentioned? Any other aftermarket fuel pump you would recommend other than DW400?

Absolutely loved the video, especially since I have a Gen 1 N/A (Convertible) build in progress. I have done most of what you listed in the video including 18+ manifold and front sway bar delete. My stock clutch held 30k boosted miles with hard launches until I had issues with my pedal sticking. I went with a lpx twin disk clutch kit . I highly recommend it , pedal feel is the same and grabs at the same point as factory , smooth engagement and isn't loud considering its not a sprung clutch
30k isn't very much honestly. You just got lucky it didn't go sooner but even 30k isn't good my 16 fiesta st (diff platform I know) is on stock clutch working fine with 115k, 60k of that have been fbo hybrid turbo making 280 wheel in a 2600 lbs car which is alot from a 1.6 and over 50% more than stock. @@turbinatorlou I drive both pretty regularly, S550’s are much comfier between the two but both would be a substantial upgrade to a fox as you said lol
@@turbinatorlou you'd prob like the s197 better coming from a fox it's still solid axle so you'd be familiar. It has a much more modern than a fox feel but still kind of raw compared to an s550. Alot of guys think the s550 is too refined just depends what you come from and are used to
See the good thing about this setup is that you’re ready for a centri setup just upgrade the fuel system and you’re good to go. Might be the way to go when I get my 2012!
Only thing that changes is you go 3.15 gear and a healthy stall converter. Drag radials work better with an auto bias isn't "needed" as much as with a stick shift. That's basically it there isn't gonna be a huge difference between manual and auto setups the engine stuff will be the same stuff.
@@169abr it isn't that bad man people really exaggerate this. It has alot to do with the suspension you're running and the wheel and tire setup. On a light drag pack with thick tire they ride much better. The solid axle doesn't make it ride as awful as people wanna make it out to be.

Alot of guys think the s550 is too refined just depends what you come from and are used to
@@midnight347 Thanks for your input man much appreciated.
See the good thing about this setup is that you’re ready for a centri setup just upgrade the fuel system and you’re good to go. Might be the way to go when I get my 2012!
Would love to see a Gen 1 Auto setup... Good stuff Alex! 👏
That's next in this series.
Only thing that changes is you go 3.15 gear and a healthy stall converter. Drag radials work better with an auto bias isn't "needed" as much as with a stick shift. That's basically it there isn't gonna be a huge difference between manual and auto setups the engine stuff will be the same stuff.
I like this type of videos. maybe even do some truck builds stuff also. keep ‘em coming! 👍🏼
Fantastic video! I’m very excited to see more of this series.
Hell yea looking forward to these.. Will you be doing videos on Turbo setups also?
Ive always wanted to do the exact same combo for 10s, and see in real world how fast it would go
thanks for this video, keep this series going!
Great information! Can't wait to see Gen2 video 👍👍👍
Great video! Lots of info. Really appreciate this.
Great info ! Gen 1s are great cars , knowing how much easier their suspension is to setup for drag racing makes me regret my gen 3 manual lol
Gen 1's ride noticeably worse, much prefer a Gen 2/3
@@169abr it isn't that bad man people really exaggerate this. It has alot to do with the suspension you're running and the wheel and tire setup. On a light drag pack with thick tire they ride much better. The solid axle doesn't make it ride as awful as people wanna make it out to be.
This is awesome hoping for a boosted manual gen 1 video!
Good series! Would be cool if you did gt500s after coyote
I support this
If it doesn't have a 2.3 Blower, swap it to that or a VMP, NSR cams, headers, injectors, E85
@@169abr you can go 10s with the m122 lots of guys have done it just like gen 1 5.0s can go 10s all motor. I've seen guys go deep 10s with the m122 like 10.60s.
@@169abr and you can get vmp 2.3s as well it isn't either or you can have a 2.3 and a vmp blower lol. The gen3r 2650 will make it even easier but guys have went 10s with the small m122. Back when they first came out they did a pulley tune and filter with a catback and was trapping like 124 mph going deep 11s with those simple mods in mm&ff when they first tested the gt500s.
Ran a best of 12.9 when my car was stock, in 5000+ DA with just a tire and stock tune.
Guys have been 12.2 or so on a tire in good da so that is about right. Good for your da
You sir deserve a cold beer
Love this series! I want more s197 content!
I haved learned so much from you. Thanks Alex!
For my mustang all I’ve done is boss 302 intake cai 90mm throttle body and that’s it when I got the car it had a magnaflow catback and it might have suspension that isn’t stock I can’t tell
Love this series!
Excellent no nonsense video
thanks for the video alex. what do you suggest for a shifter?
Barton hybrid 3
Do Gen 1 manual boosted next!
Right I 2nd this.
I just need a drag pack and 3
73s. I'm on 235 firehawks and 3.31s running mid 12s on the streets of Mexico.
Ayyy let’s go, all about that gen 1 life
Very information video tio I have a 12 track pack mt82 I bought it already FBO or half bolted on as y’all say lol I just need a tune from the best and see what she’s really capable of
Super helpful. Thanks as always Alex!
Thanks buddy, I've waiting for somebody to come out with something like that. I have a 2011 GT right now. It seems like i'm only E85 away from running tens...💪🤙👍
What is your setup currently?
Love this format! Thank you sir 👍🏻
Have an S550 6R80 and I want my manual gen 1 back to do basically these mods. I want to do tubular everything, carbon fiber, race seats, almost a complete gut, built motor.
My car has a Cobra Jet intake and full Stainless Works exhaust ran a 11.7 @ 116 MPH. Car is set up for auto cross though. Has a lot more in it with some more seat time at the track
