In a previous life I must have been Brasilian. I just love their country, culture, music just everything about it. I keep getting drawn back to this country everytime. I've never been there but I know so much about it. I can even speak the language a little and I understand most things without ever taking a class. Because I love this country so much I have started learning the language through their music and then on my own by using the internet when I was only 12. I am in my 30's now and my love for this country has only grown. I hope to visit one day in the future and experience it for myself

This, by far, is the greatest reason why we should ALWAYS treasure different ethnic groups of people...their culture, art work, anything they created, can teach us so much about another part of life we may not have known about previously. We can learn about their foods, their clothing, etc...all treasures to always protect, not destroy!! This is the reason I so love diversity...I've learned so much from other people's backgrounds & how they do things...how they live, cook, eat, create things...such beauty & I've always become richer for the experiences. We are never too old or too young to learn from one another.

I love the museum. I'm so glad this guy recognizes the value and has shared his knowledge with the locals. If I had to live in S. America, I'd look for a small village near the river. The major cities are so crowded and dirty. And it's hard to get clean, safe, potable water too. The small towns keep their streets swept up and clean. That is a high priority for me.

Sure. And the idea of moving to South America seems to me to be to get away from the b.s. that comes with big city life.

Fantastic narrative. The fazendas remind me of the haciendas in my native Iloilo and Negros, the Philippines. That's what we have in common with our Latin cousins in Brazil aside from religion and the love of music. Ellos tienen water buffaloes que llamamos como carabao. Felicidades y abrazos desde filipinas.

Early Spanish accounts of the Amazon states that there are many cities glowing white. I bet the Arawak people built these cities and lime washed them white. And I bet diseases (from Europe) killed most of them. And so weakened, the Caribs invaded and pushed them to Marajo and Lesser Antilles Carribbean islands.

Just because they prefer their old customs and ancient rituals along side herbal medicine doesnt make them stupid or naive. In Bosnia majority of the people even doe they claim to be muslims-christians-jews majority of them practice ancient shamanic rituals, sing and dance songs and dances they believe gives them power and so on.Big part of that is natural medicine passed on for thousands of years from the head of the family to the youngest and the cycle never stops.I used to go into the massive forests we have here and my mother would know which plant, which fruit, tree, does what and what its best for.We never went to the hospital even doe we have modern ones like you have in the states.I have had rituals performed on me and seen them performed on others that if i was to tell you, you would never believe me.When i used to get sick i would go see my grandmother and she would take me either to the forest or she would have the right plant in her back yard that she grows and would walk back home all normal with out the sickness.

Just like these European cattle and sheep concerns are burning down rain forest for grazing and Aboriginal people who push back are "disappeared". It has forced all Aboriginal peoples into choosing between compliance with their greed fueled sociopathic behavior or poverty, marginalization and threatened extinction.
