My grandfather was from Belem, then moved to Africa. Somehow he always missed home, and asked only to be taken back to Belem when he died--We Did. Now, I am an African of Brazilian descent. Thank you for this documentary. Somehow, it made me cry thinking how my grandfather adamantly refused to be buried away from his home--his civilization.

This documentary is made to a better standard than many BBC documentaries and the narrator so very much better than Dan Snow and his ilk.

This is the best documentaries I have seen for the last 4 years ever since the t even in a so called budget equipment but the picture, narrator is far more lovely professionally including the voice sound and content are much better than ABC,NBC,CNN. HA HAHA.
Thanks for your time and effort putting this together for all of us, I do not need to repeat what others had to say about you down below. Fantastic and fabulous presentation of all times, Bravo, Peace. Be safe and be Happy for ever..

Never had a dull moment watching the entire documentary. Felt like I was there the whole time with the way you captured every single moment of your journey. And the fact that the Amazon is one of the places I want to visit made the experience even more exhilarating. Thanks for this very insightful documentary...

A mellow pace to the commentary conveys the rhythm of life in this part of the world. Equally important are the clearly-drawn MAPS shown at each stage of the journey. Altogether, just the right amount of detail to give an accurate view of what is happening today along this great river. Thank you, WIDE, for observing & recording it all in this way.

I work 50 hours a week so I can earn money to pay for the car and gas I use to get to work, pay my other bills and on weekends work at home repairing/maintaining the cars, the house and lawn so I can be ready to hit the cubicle again on Monday. I think these guys sitting around the camp fire tripping on frog juice, pretending to be spirit healers and eating jungle critters probably have a more rewarding life than I do.

It’s so crazy seeing how simple people can still live and be little to no impact on the planet.
Then there is the rest of us that waste trash this earth so we can try to put on this image of success.

Alright people right now 70% to 80% is gone what you see is a small picture of what was and still, but struggling people as population grows and the need for farms food and crime. Turning into a desert sad sad we did this humans. You lose Amazon forest it’s over for the people. Education helps us all to understand around us and are impact. Us the people slow down. Great video thanks

Pollen studies in jungle soil along the amazon have found that around 900 years ago there were large areas that had been deforested and planted in corn. Then a period of grasslands followed, slowly reverting back to rainforest. It seems that for centuries there over 2 million people or more in those areas. Lidar maps showed low levies and other raised soil platforms in many places.
