- The hostile sea can also be, for some people, a protection. Several communities of the American continent have used it to reclaim their freedom.
In Honduras, the Garifunas were slaves on the run who managed to escape their fate by settling on isolated shores. The Kunas from Panama have fought for their independence in the past. In Colombia, the Wayuu Indigenous people live in an arid and remote land they escape by dreaming. The Jangadeiros in Brazil have built their identity based on their love of sailing.

My name is Jorge Marin I am a garifuna born in Honduras. I want people to know that the garifuna/garinagu are not descendants of slaves. We are prisoners of war (P.OW.) we were exile from our country St. Vincent and the Grenadines by the British government who rob our land.
It is good to know the truth 🙎🏿♂️💪🏿✊🏿thank U

Respect for that first community, ensuring they remain free. They are living the purest life that is lost to the majority of us
Elon Musk putting up thousands of satelites to tell these folks to flee north because of climate change. Those space x rockets are changing the world in a bad way.
What a BEAUTIFUL LIFE !! 🌊❤
If climate change is real these people will flee north soon.

Story nice😀
Good
🇹🇹 very intresting
The Garifunas were captured and shipped from Africa to the Caribbean. They never experienced slavery. Their two ships were shipwrecked. They escaped and lived among and intermarried with the Tianos of St Vincent. They never experienced the life of slavery that most Africans in the diaspora endured.
Your story is a myth!
What a great life...
That's crazy how those black people still speak their African language from soooo many years ago despite living in Honduras a 100 percent Spanish speaking country is mind blowing 😮
FYI There are also English speaking islands here in Honduras. English settlements from long ago.
Honduras is not a 100% Spanish speaking country if there are Hondurans speaking other languages....
We been here . A lot of black natives was here in the Americas before any slave trade it’s documented we are indigenous to the planet
imagine they ae fighting the vegetation. they don't wanna see the trees occupying their empty land

Hope and pray they don't fall victim to colonization 😢
The water without toxic fresh air live in nature invironment
Kept to their roots real well by using massive nets and keeping everything they can possibly catch 😂
Casava fills the stomach but provides very little calories or nutrition.
The narrator had said that Garifuna villagers live withoutany electricity - then in the areal scene it's clearly seen the satellite dish on one of the houses.
True and the Garifuna were never slaves.
Maybe they use solar and petrol generators
@@wakaish1094That's electricity genius
The scene immediately before the narrator said no electricity showed someone with a generator.
They should learn how to surf
Desimate the land nd resources to make enough to buy gas
The whole world was black tf
