With all the customizations they can make, there is no question about which wrist I wear a watch on! How are they going to have a perfect fit if they don't know which wrist to open up for my watch?

Hi Real Men Real Style, funny question... do Tailor Store fit women at all? Or can you recommend any shirt tailors for women? I spent the day wearing an ill-fitting casual chambray shirt... caught a glimpse of myself looking like crap 😐... fed up. Your help would be much appreciated.

The right video at the best moment. There is a waiter in the hotel I work at, that works really hard, but his shirts are bagy, his ties too short and the tie knot too big for the collar. I wanted to talk to him today and you put out this video, that is basically a re-cap of everything Iearned so far. Love it, great work. I pass on the info to people who need a style boost

Very good actionable advice, Antonio. Thanks to you I also ordered a shirt from the Tailor Store last year and it still fits damn near perfectly, though I'd shorten any future ones made of similar fabric. They have a fantastic variety of fabrics as well as a very thorough guide to fabrics to give you more info about weaves, weights and what have you.
I was surprised that the shirt you're wearing is made of linen but there's is of high quality and makes for robust yet both comfortable and cool summer shirts.

i love my dress shirts and my waistcoats etc, i used to get my mother who was a seamstress to make mine but she has passed on, i know enough about sewing to be creative, she showed me how to take say 4 shirts un pick them and cross mix them so you had 4 shirts which were made from each other they were all a match but each had a wild fashion design cos they were each frankenstein creations of each other, sleeve A , back B collar A sleeve D front C, it created a statement of design choice and by choosing the right 4 shirts worked very well, instant designer shirts, all 4 need to be identical pattern and size, but you can swallow up differences when stitching them, -
It's never to late to learn to sew lads..then everything can fit, a cheap sewing machine is easy to use takes practice, get some clothes unpick them and practice on them, the hard bit of shaping the bits "Templates" are already cut and the seam pre sewn just follow the line, it comes if your determined enough a great skill to have, hint keep the tension even on the material as you feed it through, don't rush it ok sleeves and button holes take real skill, but some bits are easier than others. good luck

years ago maybe men would have cringed at the thought of sewing, the nuclear 1950/60's family the male sold insurance the female raised kids, cooked and sewed if she could, but these days males are very often good cooks , tailors, gardeners, etc, so its not a modern stereotype issue or shouldn't be, and to be honest if you can drive a car you can use a sewing machine, following a pre marked dotted line just to one side of it slowing down for bends and careful smooth throttle and clutch control all have sewing machine and driving analogues, except few die because of a stabbed finger , but a thimble (a good purchase),
I never regretted learning to sew , and with a little imagination can turn a £20 shirt into the cut and sturdiness of a £100 version, better threads, stronger seams, even altered seams to adjust for your own shape, a tailors mannequin helps to fit the garment to whilst sizing, get one of your own build, learn how to measure sounds simple, its harder than it looks but yes simple all the same, have fun

I ordered a white dress shirt from The Tailor Store. The shirt is amazing, but the chest and sleeve width were much to small. I sent them photos front and back, they will remake the shirt and send me a new one. Once I have all my measurements exact, I plan on ordering more and possibly a suit as well. Thanks sir

    Hi Antonio!
I am about to turn 18 and, wanting to celebrate properly, I got myself a perfectly fitted dark red and dark blue squared suit.
It's festive and not formal-looking, and underneath it I'm wearing a dark blue linen shirt that I feel makes the dress better than a boring white or blue shirt, which would look too formal and contrast the nature and the purpose of the dress, which will be woren at a party.
Anyway, some of the details of my outfit for my 18th birthday are taken from your channel, so I wanted to personally thank you from Italy for your amazing work!

Antonio, do you like light gray dress shirts? I've made gray Oxford weave dress shirts a staple, but I don't need to wear a traditional suit or even sport coat to pass muster. I find light gray shirts to be a low-key, low contrast touch that's flattering against navy. I love crisp white and powder blue shirts too, but I'm shocked that gray shirts are so rare in the wild. Am I missing something?

It depends on what the purpose of the shirt is. If I don't plan on wearing a tie with the shirt (something more casual), than prehaps a collar that is more wide. But for a dress shirt I would go with the normal collar angle (the first dress shirt you presented in the video). I don't have a face that is long or round.

Hey Antonio, in few weeks I am going to a tailor near my place where my father & uncle are going for their shirts and this is my first time for custom shirts. I really liked the idea of French cuffs but can you suggest some more tips and ideas to tell that tailor so that he can make my shirts more awesome?
You see it's my first time that I am going to a tailor for shirts thats why needed some good ideas from a perfect style mentor like you.

  • @MrAnakin1996
    @MrAnakin1996 7 лет назад

Because I am very "trimmed", all dress-shirts I find in stores are not fitting me the way I like them to. I have some that do not fit me properly that I wear during winter or times when I have a lot of clothing covering all but the collar and the cuffs. But for the summer or for shirts I want to "be able" to show more of I tend to go with Tailor Store, and I live in Sweden, or for short sleeved shirts I most commonly use during the summer I sometimes buy close to fitting shirts and take them to my tailor to "bring in the sides" if it is a design I like.
I wear dress-shirts very frequently, almost daily and the feeling of wearing one that truly fits you vs one that does not is noticeable even when covered up with other clothing. Fit is king!
Also I did not know you knew about TailorStore! I use their shirts "all the time"! I ordered pants there and they were not a good fit so I asked them to "fix it" and I sent some pictures of me in them and told them how much I measured and wished them to change and they sent new pants that fit like a second skin, free of charge and I got to keep the other pants and do what I wanted with. I was shocked that you brought up Tailor-Store because it is a place I found on my own and really like but I dod not know it was "big" outside of Sweden. I recommend them!

Hey Antonio, can I get some advice? I'm buying a suit for school and so it's something I will be wearing everyday. I have a modest budget of around £200 and I would like to get a suit of 100% wool with super 110 yarn or merino wool. However my mother wants me to buy multiple suits for the same money and interchange them, but suits around £100 here are either 100% polyester or a wool polyester blend. What do you suggest I do?

    Hello Antonio,
I really do appreciate your videos they are great but in maybe one of your future epsodes could you address durability of fabrics. I work as a Banquet Captain for a hotel and I have to wear suits for work. All in all that sounds fine except that it is a very involved job. If I wear a suit to work that suit basically becomes only for work. My job is messy and I can get stains on it at any time and dry cleaning can only do so much. But the crux of my problem is I move around A LOT at work. On a busy day I could walk up to 30,000 steps. As you can imagine this wears out suit pants tremendously fast. I buy Stafford Suits from JCPenney. I know they are not the most high end suit but they fit me very well, they are cheaper than sinking 400 dollars plus alteration cost into a nice suit, and the Stafford suits I can buy as many pants as I need to. I am just not comfortable wasting so much money on a nice suit that almost immediately gets ruined for anything but work the second I go to work with it. Now a days even the nice suits do not have extra pants to wear meaning I can only wear the suit as long as the pants hold up making it even harder to justify buying an expensive suit for work.
Any thoughts on this matter would be a great help.
    Thank you,
    Daniel

    • @RealMenRealStyle

Daniel Macfarline - Maybe stick to the brand you're currently using since I understand it's more affordable and practical and it fits you well. Going for a higher-end brand might not be the best option since you'll just wear them out fast due to the nature of your work.

Is it safe to assume that even if I choose a slim fit, it will not look bad around my larger midsection because it's all based on the measurements I provide? Or am I better off going with a regular fit? I have an issue with extra weight around the belly area. I do like slim fit shirts however. I don't like baggy shirts.

Yes go slim fit.....as it is tailored just for you it will fit you and your body measurements.

Antonio, don't dress shirts shrink a little bit after the first washes? Shouldn't we buy them a little bit larger to account for future shrinkage, otherwise they will be too small and they won't fit properly? I don't have any previous experience with dress shirts and I am really confused now that I want to add them in my wardrobe.
    Thanks in advance

giorgos tseligas It shouldn't be shrinking at all. What kind of fabric is it made of? This article might help - www.realmenrealstyle.com/dress-shirt-fabrics/

Real Men Real Style Thanks for the response.
Well I was looking for cotton oxfords. I guess that if I wash them in gold water the quality of the shirt will define whether it shrinks or not. What brand would you suggest for quality but not too expensive dress shirts, so that they won't shrink?

Marius Adrian - The Trinity Knot is not the best tie knot for formal occasions. This is more of a casual style type of knot.

I'm a 23yr old male that is only 5'6 or 5'7 and over overweight 225lbs while being from West Virginia. Im having trouble finding jeans that fit plus i want to be able to look good in a flannel or dress shirt ( not a dress pants or suit guy ) blue collar working man and wearing boots for my job. Could any one give me tips or point me in the right direction to making myself dress like a real man and not a boy
