Just want to say thank you for spurring a transformation in how I present myself in public. I already noticed a difference in how I am received and I have only just begun changing my wardrobe. Gents, ditch the gory death metal tees and learn how to wear men's clothing. It helped me with social anxiety like crazy. Layering the visual with a signature fragrance and the styling almost becomes a mantra that supports you throughout the day.
Speaking of belts, something else you would have definitely picked up in the USMC is an understanding of the gig line. Please mention this in an upcoming video dealing with belts. Looks so much sharper than a belt off center.
My uniform the last few work years as a construction project manager--Dark 501s, LL Bean Oxford Cloth Button down (white, blue, or Cambridge stripe), Black or Brown Frye Harness boots, black or brown D ring belt, vintage watch with black or brown leather strap. Gray tweed or black cashmere blazer for office or meeting. Never failed.
Great video! I've been doing this pretty much from 8th grade. Just a long sleve shirt rolled up the top 2 buttons undone. Elegant confortable and looking just awesome
Hey there! I love your channel and I think you do a great job of providing valuable content. I was wondering if you could make a video about dressing up as a teenager. With so many fashion options out there, it can be overwhelming to figure out what's appropriate and stylish for different occasions. A video on this topic would be incredibly helpful for those of us who want to look our best but aren't quite sure where to start. Thanks for considering my request!
Great video Antonio! Since I work in a more casual office, I mainly wear button down shirts (mostly gingham and checked) with either Dockers or jeans. Pair them with captoe or wingtip derbies and a similar color belt. And always tucked in of course.
I am a huge fan of wearing a vest with jeans. Looks good with any kind of button up/down, dress, or flannel shirt. Works with dress shoes, boots, sneakers, or loafers, just coordinate your colors, and you're good.
Going to holiday parties with this advice alone isn’t advised. Take advantage of the special patterns available during the holidays. Normally wearing them would be tacky or too much, but holidays make it work. Tartans of green and red or blackwatch. Fair isle sweaters, vests, or cardigans in holiday colors. It’s the most wonderful time of the year for a reason. Sweaters are the best.
Nice vid, Antonio. I have a couple of dress shirts with a more casual vibe (a windowpane plaid and a gingham) made with French cuffs. I pair them with a nice-fitting pair of dark wash denim with a bit o' stretch (34 Heritage) and a merino sweater vest. Typically, I'll do a sports jacket, too. The cuff links up-class the outfit significantly. I complete the look with a wingtip, penny loafer, or chukka.
Great video. I struggle with layering living in Phoenix, AZ. When it's 118 degrees out, the last thing I want to do is wear denim and blazer/sport coat--especially since I naturally run hot.
Good video. I do wear some dress shirts with jeans and they must always be tucked in. BTW-I notice the Anson belts in many of your videos. I have three belts and four buckles from them and I enjoy it very much! (This is not a paid advert, just a happy customer).
I work in a pretty informal office as a supervisor. I went to work for many years wearing T shirts and jeans, sometimes cargo shorts or trousers. But for the last year I switched to jeans + flannel shirts and informal shirts. After this vids I will also try some more button ups/downs and more formal shirts, specially bec I'm aiming for a promotion. I like the combination with boots, fancier sneakers, even dress shoes. My next trip to the US (where clothes are cheaper) I'm gonna need an extra bag. Thanks a lot, Antonio!
Great video. I'm usually a casual guy myself so if I wear a shirt with jeans I go with something with a bit of umph colorwise. Wine reds, greens or mid tone blue are my to go to colors.
Regarding armpit stains, I believe that's caused by deodorant with aluminum in it. I wear deodorants that don't have aluminum, and I've never had a problem with armpit stains, even after years of regular use.
This is good advice. I only wear casual button ups, often flannels, with my jeans, always tucked in. I can't really wear any kinda buttoned shirts over my pants anyway, because my wide hips makes the shirt very tight around the lowest button, which is just a terrible look. By tucking it in, that completely gets rid of that problem. I wear flannels because they're warm and soft, and I like the checkered pattern. I try to avoid the very classic red style though. But if I do wear a red one, I match it with dark gray jeans instead of classic blue.
Skinny jeans are just bad Skinny jeans are so tight that they mess up the proportions of the body Go for slim fitted jeans instead, a much better and good looking choice for a slim guy
The best fit is a tapered fit that goes from a slim straight to a skinny taper without becoming skin tight around the ankle. The gap has skinny jeans very much like this. They fit my body perfectly and are the go to pattern for me. I just wish I could find a pair of affordable selvaged jeans in that pattern.
My dressier jeans have a high contrast stitch but I like it because it helps me lean into the fact that I'm not entirely formal Edit: Let me add, aside from the high contrast stitch they tick all the boxes. And I keep them very neat and tidy, hardly ever wear them
You never mention pale pink as a colour for a dress shirt. I have lots, and paired with a light or dark navy suit looks amazing. I was always told to match your belt colour with the colour of your shoes. Brown belt = brown shoes. My favourite set up is navy suit, pink shirt and brown or chestnut shoes with belt to match. Tie = your choice. I’m from 🇬🇧 The Uk. Maybe guys in the US never wear pink! Would love your thoughts
I'm with you. I live in the US. I love to wear the pale pink. It definitely works. I love the pink with black suit, grey suit, dark grey, blue, chocolate brown.
@@marshallartz395 It doesn’t have to be a button down as long as you either starch the collar or use collar darts or both, nothing worse than curled collars.

Our social standing is at risk. She says that she will have to inspect me every time I leave the house.
I'm older and always went with the blue chambray button-down oxford/khaki and lighter blue linen/chino combos for casual wear. We were taught that a denim variation top with a belt and tuck was fine, but jean bottoms were only suitable for softball, flag football, fishing/hunting, and car/yard/house work. $15 or $1000 jeans are the same (adjusted for one's income of course). Any thoughts RE: chambray/linen tops?
I agree if I wanna wear a button up shirt with jeans especially ripped jeans I will wear my casual button up shirts untucked and it will look very good if you really wanna wear a shirt tucked in with jeans you can always wear your button up tucked in I see people do it
The shirt length is telling when it comes to dressy shirts versus casual ones. Dress shirts are made longer because they’re meant to be tucked into pants. They need to have some length to allow you to move or dance without coming untucked.
I know that this channel is mainly for men but, It would be great if you could Make a video on how a teenager should dress up. I'm really hopefull and thanks for your videos.
Relaxed fit, boot-cut jeans in a darker stonewashed blue for casual, or a black for a more formal affair. I wear either my brown harness boots (casual) or my black laredos (formal)
So timely - I've got an event coming up where I'm thinking about jeans with a custom tailored french cuff dress shirt and a jacket like the one you have on here. Been wondering about cuff links with cowboy boots. I've got the Anson belts and I can match all the metal - watch, wedding ring, buckle...
Another great vid my friend. I have commented before and really value your insights. Working as a retired police officer in a civilian capacity now in law enforcement it is death by kahkis and golf shirts. My go to uniform is black or blue JEANS (skinny), shirt, tie, sports coat/blazer, great shoes and pocket square. Works 99% of the time. Cheers my friend.
I was thinking of how to do this very recently so perfect timing. Also Dress shirts with a front pocket or a slight texture are easy to dress down as well. Excellent video!
From my years of dressing this way I avoid any dress shirts made of poplin and twill fabric shirts, when pairing shirts with jeans. What always works for me are oxford cloth button downs. (Duh) But to wear with a jacket I choose the finer royal oxford cloth instead of the rougher oxford cloth that I wear with chinos and shorts. Dress shirts made of pique fabrics also seems to work, but the collar has to be really casual. (I normally buy these shirts with the wide spread or cut away collar style, which really work well to keep the collar up with a sports coat when going sans neck tie.) Just keeping it simple is the best. Wearing jeans with a jacket is enough of a change to the convention, you don't want to make it more complicated. I emphasize the word complicated because for most men wearing a jacket with jeans is complicated because you have to get all the subtle nuances correct to pull it off without looking like the guy at the airport wearing the suit jacket and white poplin dress shirt with jeans and black oxfords (well...usually black dress shoes with some sort of comfort soles.)
This is probably going to be important for me if I'm really going to wear jeans with a dress shirt, jeans and chelsea boots. Does that sound like it'd look good or...?
@@hunterxsimple3821 i personally don't like lighter weight shirts with jeans and no jacket, but thats just me, also if you're going to wear it untucked make sure its not too long
One thing I would like to know is if there is a brand of undershirt that doesn't *feel* like you are wearing an undershirt. I have tried many different types - the ol' regular white fruit of the loom thing, the compression type, fitted, mesh - and the problem that I have is that I always feel like I am wearing way too many clothes. Like I am trying to be Sta-Puft or something. Never comfortable. If anybody has suggestions, I am all ears (well, eyes in this case).
One of the most underrated features of the Anson belts (and one I personally love but have never heard anyone else mention) is how great they are when you are going through airport security! I usually check a bag, then before I get in line for TSA I throw my watch, wallet and flip off the buckle of the belt and throw it in my carry on and you're ready to go. No need to take off and wrap up the entire belt...it's a minor time savor, but when it comes to traveling, seconds turn into minutes and with minimal bag space, I think its worth it.
Thank you! Levi’s in a dark wash in a 502, 511, or 512 look great with a sport coat. Why are people paying 400.00 for a pair of jeans they say are dressier? 511 jeans last me 6 or 7 years for 60 bucks. I don’t get paying 400 for Japanese denim … any thoughts? I have the money to buy them but I don’t see the value in doing it. Thank you.
Question for you Antonio, how would you go about choosing a wardrobe for a person planning on, or currently working to improve their physique? How you do compensate for the growth of muscle or loss of weight when choosing something like a blazer or even a proper dress shirt?
Unfortunately if you are planning on losing more weight than 1-2 sizes down for a sports coat or suit jacket, you are going to have to buy a new wardrobe. Never buy clothes that you hope to fit into because you probably won’t end up wearing them. Just buy clothing that fits you now and have it tailored as you lose weight. But eventually if you lose too much or gain enough muscle in certain areas like the chest or shoulders, you will have to go on another shopping spree. Find things that look good on you now, and make you feel comfortable with your body. Because when you’ve lost weight and gained muscle, you will have an easier time finding items because you will feel good with or without them. You won’t have to worry if it covers a problem area or fits.
As someone that is 5’7 ~200 LBS and low body fat, you’ll have to accept you will have to get a new wardrobe and then depending if you have a bodybuilder frame, you’ll have to have tailored suits and dress shirts. Sucks, but worth it if you don’t plan on flucating a lot once you get to the size you want/can.
If You 're a sales Person or just trying to sale yourself at office, those Anson belt might do it, but for the rest, I think a Garrison style belt with thick leather like Pigeon tree belt or Hollows leather is the Real Men style for a jeans.
Anson also offers a discount for veterans and service members. All you have to do is email them to inquire and you'll get an extra 10 or 15 percent off. I can't remember exactly how much it was but every little bit helps.
A couple of years back I started wearing deep v-neck t-shirts for under-shirts which greatly preserved my nice dress shirts and kept the sweat stains off that were hard for my wife to remove.
You speak of ironing a dress shirt. I couldn't agree more. But what about ironing the pleats by the cuff after the shirt has been washed? Maybe after the first wash you can probably copy the originals, but after a few washes this becomes harder. Now, would you say I'm probably related to J. Edgar Hoover or is this something to be actually concerned with, and how to do it if it is the later?
What are some good brands for undershirts? Reason I’m asking is because if I unbutton the top two buttons, I don’t want the edges of my v neck undershirt to show.
Some formal shirts have collar buttons. I am curious to know what is the purpose to have those buttons? Is it for tie or simply to keep the collar in correct position?
Fashion is subjective, and there's no one size fits all way of wearing your gear. Some ppl can pull off the most odd combination and some ppl just can't. It all depends on how you wear them and carry yourself. Fashion is an art form and there are no mistakes in an art form. It's down to one's perspective and to the eyes of the beholder. Some may be put off with Christian Louboutin spike shoes, but it's a fashion statement of others.
The problem today with the jeans is that most stores sell skinny jeans and even regular styles are on the skinny side which is ridiculous because most of our population is overweight. On top of that they sit bellow our waist which is terrible for our tool and make us looks like Buffalos on jeans. I am not a fashion guy but I follow my lady advice. She said whenever you use jeans always use them with polo shirt, Turtle sweater, or Round neck t-shirt and you never will be wrongly dress and never cowboy boot cut jeans with casual sneakers. I think she is right.
I follow your channel for tips for my son. It would be nice if you had more Black models. Let’s be honest, many clothes fit differently on Blacks because of certain phenotypic differences.

Just found the channel. Great advice. I am trying to look cool in my 50’s. To old for tee shirts but feel to young for a sports jacket. 😂
Great video! You never mention 1/4 zip sweaters. I have a lot of nice Nordstrom cashmere ones. Is that a style no no?
What’s your thought about exotic leather western style boots with dress shirt and dark jeans with a sport coat? Is there any dos or donts.
Best men style channel !
How about using a sports jacket with this style?
Good one for general bumming around.
Good to see you back in a jacket!
I always add a vest.
I have one of those belts. They are awesome!
Ha ha. I could see that Belts promo coming. Was very obvious!
What are some good brands for undershirts? Reason I’m asking is because if I unbutton the top two buttons, I don’t want the edges of my v neck undershirt to show.
Did I hear Concealed Carry options in this video? I think this is an area of men's clothing you can expand on.
Hi, Love your advice, but please can you do one for overweight men? thanks
What about when you have dad bod?
I'm English. Pretty reliable video
Jeans are accepted where I'm from locally and culturally. So this creates a challenge for me in my new place of residence.
Link for the undershirt?
Great information man. Thank you so much.
This is an "instant subscribe" kind of channel.
No info on those Cowboy boots?
What information?
Some formal shirts have collar buttons. I am curious to know what is the purpose to have those buttons? Is it for tie or simply to keep the collar in correct position?
As i understand it, It id to keep the Collar straight, Also NEVER wear them with the collar buttons Unbuttoned!"
Cuffs: one button only or multiple (how many are allowable-or is this only '70's stuff?).
Thank you sir. I love your advice . New subscribers
A simple topic made to look like roket science!
where do you get "nude" color t shirts??
The problem today with the jeans is that most stores sell skinny jeans and even regular styles are on the skinny side which is ridiculous because most of our population is overweight. On top of that they sit bellow our waist which is terrible for our tool and make us looks like Buffalos on jeans.
I am not a fashion guy but I follow my lady advice. She said whenever you use jeans always use them with polo shirt, Turtle sweater, or Round neck t-shirt and you never will be wrongly dress and never cowboy boot cut jeans with casual sneakers.
I think she is right.
What are your thoughts on black Calvin Klein Aggussie Oxfords with denim or khaki chinos?
I follow your channel for tips for my son. It would be nice if you had more Black models. Let’s be honest, many clothes fit differently on Blacks because of certain phenotypic differences.
See "Paul Hollywood"
There you go,
job done,
Thank you.
Out.
I don't do squats and lundges to hide my legs with straight fits😂😂😂... They must see my hemy and quards 😂
Man, I wish they had Anson belts in the Philippines 🇵🇭 😔
This is awesome information
Always love your videos but I'd rather wear my sports coat unbuttoned. By doing that it feels more casual and easier to wear with jeans.
Can not buy a good belt in Thailand only PU which falls apart first wear
Do you approve chuck taylors?
