Learning to dress well in style and match your clothing is not an immediate thing a persons learn. You learn to figure out these things over time and a long time just dressing yourself and learning from your feedback loop of what works or not and why.

As a truck driver I always did the Canadian tuxedo thing. For layering I'd do a vest or vest sweater under the denim jacket and a Barbour outer for the rough weather. When constantly traveling I had the smallest combination to deal with the greatest number of weather combinations that I could encounter.

As far as wearing denim of the same color, if you have a particular brand of denim that you wear, that is consinstant with thier dyes, you can actually have whole denim outfots that match perfectly. I for one wear a lot of Levi's, I have black pants, jacket, and overshirt that are all a perfect match.

I have a question for you. I have been trying to apply a lot of the dress code advice you provide. One of the items I a rather aware of is to dress age appropriately. I will be 70 yrs old soon and I do like to dress up denims. I have some very nice Thursday boots that I want to wear with my denims. Is folding/rolling up denims okay for someone my age? Note that I am quite active, 5'10" tall and have a slim build. I have been told that I don't look my age. I don't want to appear that I am trying to look young again. I have no problem with my age but just want to dress appropriately.

I match that description exactly except that I'm 2 inches shorter. I usually wear slim fit jeans with Red Wing Iron Rangers or similar, and I cuff the jeans about level with the tops of the boots. It looks pretty grown-up in my opinion. Under-25s in the London area are more likely to be seen in jogging bottoms and trainers.

hey antonio! Ive gotten started on my new style journey about 1-2 months ago, and now that I have been getting some nicer sweaters (both bigger/bulky and thinner sweaters), ive ran into a problem. I feel like the rolled up sleeves look looks great on me, and i feel like a million bucks as you put it. But after that, my sleeves get all stretched out and dont look that great anymore when theyre not rolled up. Is this something i should be worried about? Should i just accept that my sleeves will never look the same?
Would greatly appreciate a response, ty so much for all your content. Cheers from Portugal!

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 Год назад

The sleeves should revert to normal when the sweaters are washed or dry cleaned. I don't put my washable sweaters in a dryer, but I hang dry them. At that point, if they still look stretched out, you can shape the cuffs as they dry to smoosh the knit back into shape.

A big challenge for me is finding sweaters that fit correctly. (Of course, that's true for almost anything I wear.) I'm a relatively thing guy with long arms, so the sweaters are usually off in the neck, shoulders, and/or sleeve length.
I just ordered a new sweater (a smaller size of a brand I've previously tried), and hopefully it will fit well in all three areas.
The only sweater that can be tucked in: a turtleneck, particularly the thinner ones. Even then, it's optional.

To your point about ironing jeans, In my opinion, one should iron or steam everything except underwear and socks. Of course you don't need to put a crease in your jeans, but they should not be wrinkled. You cannot iron out the natural whiskering in the jeans but you can take the sloppiness out, so don't worry about destroying their character. In addition, when you take the time to iron or steam your clothes, you are also inspecting them for any damage or dirt. Just my opinion, not a rule. One more thing, If you are in good shape, you can also tuck in your thin sweaters if you like. Heck, I change that, what ever shape you are in, tuck in your thin sweater if you want. (My opinion, not a rule) I enjoy your channel.

    A couple of things:
    1. One can wear denim jackets with jeans, but the color has to be significantly different. For instance, with my blue jeans, I have a couple of denim jackets I could wear, one black and one camel. Just avoid the Canadian tuxedo.
    2. A sweater and pea coat can look good. An off-white submariner sweater, worn with a navy peacoat, is a classic combination, inspired by the actual wear of sailors in inclement weather. Just be sure to pair it with a navy watch cap.

    • @edennis8578

hey Antonio ,. so im thinking, i know this is an old vid, im trying to catch up,. back tracking while hitting on new,. so: can you do a vid as im a very young looking 49 year old guy so, its a bit,. odd, trying to look like im taken seriously for my actual years while most still think im 30 even in a uniform or basic suit,. thus, my age isnt dictated by clothing..
id like to ask,. so can you do a vid on the tuck in and not tuck in for shirt types and when to and not to,. inc sweaters hmmm, polo : im guessing this is a nono?
also,. phone cases and wallets,. what types and should they match? now we have rif and barely anyone uses actual cash though i do if im buying shoes or a haircut or clothing or watch, idk it feels a bit more like i bought it and own it,. using a card, feels, like someone else payed. And lets say your on a date, would you pay cash or card, i think cash is right?
lastly: so ok, im a 42 inch chest, a 32 inch waist / belt area,. should i stick to taylored? this for shirts and polo shirts, i found a online store called itaylor,. is this a good store,. you see, i started doing the garden and ended up carrying alot of concrete and put on muscle in places that used to be spaces,. i have naturally wide shoulders, thus in most cases i find a large or a medium at 41/42 inch is too tight for my underarm, i actually hurt my ligament, then again a 42-44 shirt, ends up being very winged, it has a parachute at the back in wind, and the arms tend to get too long,.
until i watched your shows i didnt realize how much of a shabby shack i looked and very much trying to change that for content creation and just in life be that in a work env or casual.
i like blazers but im not yet sure if they suit me or if its just the not wearing them before but i think they are a great look on you.

Most of what you show as sweaters are extremely lightweight, and most people would call these a knit shirt, or sweatshirt.

Sorry, but the turtleneck with the suit combo at 12:40 mark is horrible and needs to be tagged the "giraffe look".

Yeah, I agree. Perhaps if the turtleneck only covered half the neck it would look better.

really not sure about this advice... have you seen what is currently being sold, and you dont even mention it. Oversize !!!
Everything is made to look bigger than it is.
I wear skinny/slim jeans with oversized hoodies and knitwear, and it looks great. And i wear lighter blue washed denim with any colour tops and it works, so i dont agree with colour choices of denim either.
Turtlenecks??!!? Roll necks.... ummmmm dont really see anyone wear those anymore.

If you insist that it is important that you know how to match a sweater and jeans, you need to surrender your man card - NOW.

A turtleneck with a dress jacket and jeans has garnered me massive compliments and positive attention from some very very sexy ladies
