      I feel called out. I first found you on FMA. I've been spending loads of money trying on different clothes from different brands to find the PERFECT slim fit. I could have saved so much more money and worn so many styles/designs that I liked if I just knew how to tailor! Thanks for redoing your vids, SD.

      Thanks Stylish D! I spent the last three days just watching your videos. The are awesome! Coincidentally my neighbor gave me her Brother sewing machine for free and followed all your sewing machine videos among many of your other videos. Love them! I just hemmed rain pants which initially were too long but thanks to you now fit perfectly. My next question is do you have a video how to remove from the sewing machine without having to always rethread the needle? One last question, I put a velcro patch on the front my rain pants- fortunately velcr patch was toward the bottom of pants so still able to cuff around the machine. Suppose I could not cuff around machine, how could you stich on something on front of pants, without machine accidentally going all the way through and also stitching back side of pants also? Thanks again and happy new year!

    I found you a month ago by accident just finding "how to tailor at home" videos due to this pandemic when one door closes another one opens and now after watching all your tailoring videos I'm on my way to buying a sewing machine and learning something I've always wanted to do. Honestly thank you brother!

    Thanks! I can’t wait to try this. I’m 5’6” 215lb bodybuilder with broad shoulders and a 31” waist. I have to purchase XL or XXL knits and button downs to fit my shoulders/arms. Worn untucked, my shirts hang 12” past my waist. Worn tucked in, I’ve got an extra wad of fabric on each side.
    Cheapest tailor I’ve found is $40/shirt and I need about 30 shirts done.

    Game changer. Man I've found my style guru. My step mom was a seamstress when she was younger. She gave me a good knowledge base on how to sew, but she's not a man, and never taught me tailoring my own clothes so i could look as cold as possible. "Yo Moms, fixing clothes and mending curtains and pillows is cool but I'm trying to leave the club with the flyest honey there, not meet her grandma and discuss doilies". Seriously so stoked I've found your channel.

    I did it using your four inch rule. Easy peasy -- but I see what you say -- it's super easy to get carried away and make it a tight muscle shirt. I only had to take off max an inch off each side and that make it pretty trim for me. I had three pins, 3/4 inch, 1 inch, 3/4 inch.

    Sir! I just found your channel today. I've already done the "binge" on, like, a dozen of me long-sleeve turtlenecks and another dozen polos. So you were right on that. In another video you showed your machine on a stool? Yeah, I use a corner of my dining room table (the other side of it has my work-from-home computer setup). And I thought I was the only one who worried about the pin direction. So now I'm gonna start on my dress shirts (thanks for the series), and one of my pals who's lost a bunch of weight has already asked if I can alter HIS shirts (when I'd had the machine less than a week)! Yeah, I'm subscribed. I'm checking back in to see what else you got.

Then I turn the shirt inside out again and replace the safety pins with regular pins, usually draw a line between the pins with chalk, and then start sewing.

      Sounds like your stitch tension might be a bit too high actually.

    Do you have a video on how to tailor a dress shirt that has a box pleat?

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  4 года назад

      Yes. This one lol. Just be mindful to not be to aggressive as it will pull that pleat out

    Ouh great, looked up a few tutorials, but this method looks the easiest, thanks a lot!
    Only question I got: what do you do with the original seem/now useless fabric? Do you cut it off along the new seemline, or do you just leave it as is?

    • @carlroeger
      @carlroeger 2 года назад

      Gotcha, saw your newest video on the procedure. Thanks again!

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  2 года назад

      Nope you remove the extra fabric, it isn't MANDATORY but you will have it just kinda sitting there taking up space and being uncomfortable if you don't.

    SD, I want to start tailoring my clothes and will do at some point. I've always found my biggest problem on large t-shirts, dress shirt, jackets and blazers is that the armholes finish too low, so I can't really raise my arms comfortably.
    Any chance you could cover this?

    • @StylishDTailors
      @StylishDTailors  3 года назад

      You mean you want higher arm holes correct?

    • @Theincrediblespud
      @Theincrediblespud 3 года назад

      @@StylishDTailors Basically. Top of the armhole is fine but the bottom needs to be raised to make it smaller and a tighter fit to the armpit

    Should i sew a straight line to eat pin?

  • @abambanm
    @abambanm Год назад +1

    MAJOR PRO TIP: mark your entire sew line with pen or pencil and then stick the pins side ways instead of top down. The machine misses the pin most of the times and then it does it just skips it.
