- Shows you how to properly power and configure both your Voodoo Lab HEX and Commander units.
Pedals used: Dunlop Fuzz Face, Ibanez SD-9, Voodoo Lab Microvibe, TC Mini Flashback and Strymon El Capistan. Amp: Tweed Deluxe (reissue) into a 2x12 cabinet with Eminence EJ1250 speakers. Mics: Beyer M160 and Sennheiser MD421 into Meris mic pres. DAW: Universal Apollo 16 into Pro Tools 11HD.

Could you make a video like this but using one of the old DMC Ground Control Pedals from the 1990s? I’m trying to use a HEX with one of those presently and would appreciate some guidance…thanks!

how do i use the hex as an ab switcher? need help figuring it out!

Wow, I had no idea you guys made these. I've been wanting something like this for awhile because I don't want rack stuff as I'm not playing gigs now, but will be soon, but little gigs and I just use a few pedals and need to be able to store combo's of those pedals and this looks ideal. My only concern (which may be very premature) is that it would move around easily if I'm on stage and stepping on it, but I can fix that.. Tell the design guys to make one with bigger print and glow in the dark print. I don't know why everyone or no one does this? Thanks man..

What is powering the power pedal? A voltage regulator or something?is that a drawer ?
is there a way you can wirelessly connect the Commander to the Hex? i'm just trying to find a minimalist approach in my rig..
I see you have the Hex, the pedals and the power supply in the rack.. and the Voodoo Lab Commander on the floor out front. I love this idea.. I'd put the Commander, a Wah and a Tuner on a small pedalboard out front.. that's all I'd need

@EndyBendy As far as I can tell, there's no out-of-the-box solution.
Even if you could find an appropriate wireless MIDI transmitter/receiver setup, you'd still need to somehow phantom power Commander via it's MIDI OUT jack (but that's where the wireless MIDI transmitter would normally be connected. Thus, some interface-box in between Commander and the transmitter would likely be required (to supply power to Commander).
In summary... Not that it would be impossible but I expect, at a minimum, it would require a somewhat elaborate custom built solution.
Does it work with other midi controllers with more banks? I would like to connect 4 pedals in preamp serial loop, and to control all together....
HEX will work with other MIDI controllers, but I would recommend contacting tech support at info@voodoolab.com to make sure you get the gear that best works for your setup. Thanks!

I just got a BOSS ES8, and I would love to “expand” the 8 loops from the ES8 to 14 with the HEX via MIDI (8+6=14), right? I haven't being able to do so U.u I set everything right (to my understanding, of course), and it only turns On/Off the LED on the loop that I want on the HEX with CC messages via MIDI (CC 81 for loop 2 ) but the sound remains the same (bypass). Is there any advice you could give me? I'm going nuts here D: U.u Or could you show us how to do that in a video, please?

Can anyone help me with my voodoolab hex + commander ? When I save a preset on the commander and switch to an other position, the Hex stop running the loop. But the problem is when I come back to my saved preset, the Hex doesn't active the loop. What am I supposed to do. Seems like there is a communication problem between the two of them.
I have this same problem… did you ever find out how to setup HEX to work with the Commander???
@@littlegiant6869 yup but it was 3years ago so I can’t remember. It was maybe just a connection problem. Either the commander wasn’t plugged in the right spot or the chain was all messed up. Sorry that I can’t help you more. I even sold these with time so I don’t have them anymore.
Thanks for your time to respond. I’m currently talking to the company & will update my fix method here if I find one through their emails to come.
Holding store and tapping a Commander # on Commander did not work (youtube video instructions), but Ben at Voodoo Lab said 1.) Set Commander to PC mode via manual and then select/light up Commander location you wish to stomp and then 2.) Set Hex Configuration of pedals & then press 1+6 together on HEX & this DOES WORK EXCELLENT to remember your stomp settings even after shutdown.
Hi James, I want to buy a Hex, but are you aware that the Hex manual is still not available to download from the Voodoo Labs website? Googling for the manual shows other people have been asking for it since January! You'll be losing potential sales just because of lazy website housekeeping!
