  • Here I explain the process of creating and using presets on the Voodoo Lab PX-8 Plus. This loop switcher enables guitarists to create different pedal combinations while turning them on or off with one switch. Very handy if you find yourself "Tap dancing" when switching tones.
    Gear in this video:
    Pedaltrain Novo 24 Pedal Board
    Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus
    Voodoo Lab PX-8 Plus
    Ernie Ball VP Junior

    Fulltone OCD
    TC Electronic Spark
    MXR Phase 95
    Strymon Flint

    Thank you so much for that. I think this loop switcher is the best for those who don't have so many pedals and I love its size. This is the best video explanation about this pedal so far. Very clear and well shot. The only thing that is missing would be how to set up MIDI on it, how to do the 4 cable method and change amp's channel via MIDI as well, but you don't have a pedal with midi capabilities, right? If there's the opportunity for you to do that in the future, please do! :). Thank you again!

    2 inquiries:
    If I add a Midi Board say the Roland FC300- will that increase my preset amounts?
    What if I have 2 types of parameters in my delay- can they be saved in a preset or I need 2 analog delay stomp boxes (Canyon) ?

    • @jacobchampoux3312
      @jacobchampoux3312  8 месяцев назад

      So the midi board I unfortunately can’t help you with since I haven’t had to add one of those. That’s something that people aren’t satisfied with my video. The 2 parameter delay: I have a Keeley Caverns that has two settings. What I have to do is keep my delay on one preset and press the other footswitch on the delay pedal itself to engage the extra reverb. Not sure if that’ll work with your setup. Let me know if this helps.

    Hi, I got a question;
    I've got a Fulltone Ultimate Octave. It has a fuzz switch and then it has an octave switch that you can add to the fuzz.
    My guess is you can't really pick with the switcher? It's either the fuzz with or without the octave - you can't make the switcher switch it for you?

    • @jacobchampoux3312

      Yeah unless you have midi on that pedal it won't work. I actually have a couple 2-switch pedals that I just kick on when I need them.

  • @kevsty311

    I am thinking about buying this. I have more than 8 pedals though. Is it possible to run the 8 that I want to make combo sounds on with the switcher on this board, and then just put my remaining pedals on a different board that I generally use as a single effect like a digitech whammy or talk box? I guess overall my main question is if I have a 2nd board can I just connect them both together with a cord and will they all still play through the amp or does the pedal switcher make things more complicated?

    • @jacobchampoux3312
      @jacobchampoux3312  3 года назад

      You can have more than 8 pedals on the board connected to the Voodoo Lab. I have the pedals that I don't want in the presets (Like my tuner, wah pedal and volume pedal) chained together at the beginning going into the In of the Voodoo and then I patched the pedals that I wanted presets for into each send and return. You definitely could chain two boards together but that'd be a lot of moving stuff for gigs. You would just wire up the second board like normal and attach the out of that board to the in of your main and wire your main to your amp. Unless you want the secondary board after your main, then you'd wire it up differently. Just treat the secondary board as one giant pedal with an in and an out. Hope that helps!

    If i have more than 8 pedals I can just chain them to the footswitch right? Also am I correct in that it doesnt matter where your chains are plugged in on the voodoolab because you can just choose which switch you want x chain to be on?

    • @jacobchampoux3312
      @jacobchampoux3312  6 месяцев назад

      Yes, more than 8 pedals, you can chain multiple pedals on one or more of the 8 loops. Your other question, I have not experimented with the switcher to see if order matters. I truly thought it did so I patched all my pedals in the order I would connect them anyway. But I don’t think I’ll take apart my board to find out how the tone changes with a different pedal order. I use my board for gigs so everything is clamped down and tidy haha.

    • @jacobchampoux3312
      @jacobchampoux3312  10 месяцев назад

      I don’t believe trails are possible without having the delay pedal in your high gain preset. At that point you’d have to kick off the delay once the trail fades.

  • @lioneyejr
    @lioneyejr Год назад +1

    So I'm waiting for mine in the mail!
    I've got one question that you'll be able to answer and save me some time: how does pedal order work?
    Is it basically the loops? Like, if I put a fuzz in loop 2 and an octaver in loop 1 - does that mean octaver goes before the fuzz? Or is there another way of doing it?

    • @jacobchampoux3312
      @jacobchampoux3312  Год назад +1

      The loops are in the same order that it would be if you chained them together normally. If you put multiple pedals into one loop, put them in the order as if they were chained in a typical board. But you won’t be able to activate them individually unless you turn the pedals themselves on and off

    • @lioneyejr
      @lioneyejr Год назад +1

    Ok weird question time: can I use this to basically run one effects loop pedalboard section into the effects loop of 5 different amps?

      That is a good question. I would think that if you flipped the input/output direction from a typical setup, that it would work like that. Different amp combinations would be cool

      @@jacobchampoux3312 dang I may have to do it. I have 5 amps set up on my studio rack all ready to be selected either via two notes torpedo or a 2x12 cab using an amp switcher. But I have to manually hook up the effects loop of whatever pedal and amp I choose this would help me have them set up always ready to use.
