Which pedals of your chain your are not using with the switcher ? Will be nice if you make a video of how to all the connections
@@rockgelio10 I don’t have the tuner, wah, or volume pedals on the switcher as I don’t need those in a chain.
Hmmm, sorry, but that's still a lot of tap-dancing for choosing presets.
Nice work! I appreciate the video. I really like this pedal board and switcher so far, but I wish Dingbat included a video on their website like this video.
I have a question. How do you connect the pedals and can I connect certain pedals to the loop and others to the front. Also can I SW channels on my Mesa Triple Crown TC-100? My Mesa has a Midi (in/out) I'm going to follow your video. Thx
I need something that can handle 10 pedals,not 8
If you have a few pedals that don’t need individual control (like volume, wah, tuner), you can daisy chain those and put them on one preset.
I have a question. Can I use the Voodoo lab px-8 midi to connect and change channels on my Mesa Triple Crown TC-100 Head? The Mesa has a Midi out. Thx
Unfortunately I’m not sure about that because I don’t use the midi function but I would guess that it would.
Out of curiosity are you using a large or medium pedalboard? Ideally I wanted to copy your board!
Haha I appreciate that man! I have the Pedaltrain Novo 24. I believe it’s 24 inches wide. Voodoo Lab makes a power supply bracket that mounts on the underside of the board so it’s pretty clean. That and a LOT of zip ties lol
This is exactly what you don't need (playing live): Tap dance on several bottoms in order to go instantly from one sound to another in less than a 1/16 note.
Definitely helped a ton!
If i have more than 8 pedals I can just chain them to the footswitch right? Also am I correct in that it doesnt matter where your chains are plugged in on the voodoolab because you can just choose which switch you want x chain to be on?
Yes, more than 8 pedals, you can chain multiple pedals on one or more of the 8 loops. Your other question, I have not experimented with the switcher to see if order matters. I truly thought it did so I patched all my pedals in the order I would connect them anyway. But I don’t think I’ll take apart my board to find out how the tone changes with a different pedal order. I use my board for gigs so everything is clamped down and tidy haha.
ive had the 4 pedal switchers for years along with all their other devices. voodoo labs consistently makes a solid product thats pretty well future proofed
Excellent video- thank you! 2 inquiries: If I add a Midi Board say the Roland FC300- will that increase my preset amounts? What if I have 2 types of parameters in my delay- can they be saved in a preset or I need 2 analog delay stomp boxes (Canyon) ?
So the midi board I unfortunately can’t help you with since I haven’t had to add one of those. That’s something that people aren’t satisfied with my video. The 2 parameter delay: I have a Keeley Caverns that has two settings. What I have to do is keep my delay on one preset and press the other footswitch on the delay pedal itself to engage the extra reverb. Not sure if that’ll work with your setup. Let me know if this helps.
Ok weird question time: can I use this to basically run one effects loop pedalboard section into the effects loop of 5 different amps?
That is a good question. I would think that if you flipped the input/output direction from a typical setup, that it would work like that. Different amp combinations would be cool
@@jacobchampoux3312 dang I may have to do it. I have 5 amps set up on my studio rack all ready to be selected either via two notes torpedo or a 2x12 cab using an amp switcher. But I have to manually hook up the effects loop of whatever pedal and amp I choose this would help me have them set up always ready to use.
Hello, I have a question for the pedal. How can I carry on over my delay trails after I switch to another preset? I would like the delays to fade out when I switch to my high gain settings without the delay.
I don’t believe trails are possible without having the delay pedal in your high gain preset. At that point you’d have to kick off the delay once the trail fades.
Very helpful video!! I had a real difficult time choosing a switcher- thanks!!
Very nice, you sound like you could develop nicely.
Wow, this thing is hideously complicated. You just convinced me not to buy it. Thanks.
I just got mine yesterday. It's not complicated at all lmao
We are all just trying to survive being a live musician haha. Do what you need and buy what you need to be the best you can.
really helpful video - thanks for making it!
Do you have a tutorial for hooking up the pedals to the switcher?
I don’t currently but enough people keep asking so I might make one soon. The only thing is, I’m in a band and I really don’t wanna tear my board apart
This is a very good tutorial! I'm thinking to buy one and your review helps me to understand what this pedal is about. The only thing it misses though is how to operate with MIDI, but i hope I'll find it somewhere else
Is the only way to have a "clean" sound, to have a "preset" with nothing on it?
Pretty much. The pedals will all be off. My clean tone consists of a compressor, reverb and boost. So I never have nothing on. That’s just my rig tho
@@jacobchampoux3312 Thanks for the reply - makes sense that a more practical clean tone would actually have some effects on it, just maybe not drives..
That was pretty good Jacob but it didn't show you how to once you plug your amp in the front of it and out the other end of it your guitar and you're out to your amp you didn't show how to hook the pedals up I've hooked him up every kind of way in there and when I press on let's say the one and three button I don't get s***
Make sure you're hooking things up correctly. The Ouput of the Voodoo should go to the amp, and the guitar should plug into the Input of the pedal. You also need to hook each individual pedal to a send and a return. Send goes into the Input of your effect pedal and Return plugs into the Output of you pedals.
I just want to know how to hook it up. How do I use the send and returns?
Sorry that I’m just now seeing this. I don’t know if you have figured it out yet but you go from the input of the individual pedal to the return of the looper, then the output of the pedal to the send of the looper. Hope this helps!
@@jacobchampoux3312 Thanks for replying. I figured it out. The one key was all pedals needed to be on. It works great!

So I'm waiting for mine in the mail! I've got one question that you'll be able to answer and save me some time: how does pedal order work? Is it basically the loops? Like, if I put a fuzz in loop 2 and an octaver in loop 1 - does that mean octaver goes before the fuzz? Or is there another way of doing it?
The loops are in the same order that it would be if you chained them together normally. If you put multiple pedals into one loop, put them in the order as if they were chained in a typical board. But you won’t be able to activate them individually unless you turn the pedals themselves on and off
@@jacobchampoux3312 I'll be using one pedal per loop, but I'll use a tuber in front and a Harmonist pedal after it. Can't wait to start making presets. I also have one pedal that can be controled by MIDI so that should be fun too.
@@lioneyejr good shit!
Great tutorial, thanks!!
Hey Jacob-Thanks so much for this! Really helpful and I appreciate your generosity in taking the time to explain this. Great job and very much appreciated!
Thank you for this! Considering buying this thing but I couldn’t understand the functionality until I watched your video. Great job
You really broke this thing down and made it really easy to understand. Man, thank you.
Helped a lot. Thank you!
Hey can you do a drum of the watcher original song?
I've got another question for you - is it possible to go, for example, to a tuner and wah - and then go i to the looper? To use pedals without using loop sapce? Likewise, is it possible to go out of the looper into a pedal?
Dude, i thought why you have square hair? ...but it's foam. You got me.
Nice Pedalboard Jacob, did you build it yourself?
Yup!
What is the point of the optional insert and return? I just bought this pedal and it says that this breaks the loop between loops 6 and 7. What would be the use for this feature?
What size patch cables did you have to end up running from pedal to the switcher?
I used a combo of 1 ft, 2 ft, and 3 ft
Nice work, very cool.
Love it ✊🏼
Great job of explaining the features. I think I will get one.
thanks, i am considering buying this and this has helped!
Why don't you have your lead channel on bank 2 as well? ...so you only have to push one button to go from clean to lead. All that big switcher and you're still doing a tap dance?
For this video, I just made a bunch of sample channels. I changed it to my actual (and practical) settings after shooting. I have most of my channels on bank 1: Clean > Clean Boost > Drive > Drive boost (lead) and then I use bank 2 for my other effects that I don’t use very often.
