A full walkthrough of my current live rig, which is configured to switch my guitar pedals on/off automatically throughout the set. The main piece of gear that allows this to happen is the Voodoo Lab Hex MIDI switcher, which you can check out below:

I love how it feels like the philosophy of this channel seems to be explaining things that for years and years, and even on youtube, have been treated as things you just have to "figure out on the job." Like for whatever reason there seems to be an attitude towards things like the signal chain you explained where its expected you just know this. Sorry my bad that I didn't have a friends older brother who worked at a guitar store explain it to me once 11 years ago, I'll just figure it out through a decade of trial and error. Keep up these vids they are great

Same here, I didn't really know much of that stuff growing up either. I think most people just don't have the patience to walk through very simple things, it's a common thing with people who are deep into a craft.
I didn't really grasp signal chains before I actually bought pedals and messed around with the order. I always heard people talk about it but it was always in this vague manner that wasn't explicit enough for me to realize why the order mattered.
Glad you're still enjoying the material!

Thank you for an extremely informative video clearly explaining and outlining all the features of the Hex in meticulous detail! Much appreciated!!
Can you tell me what is the name of this BOX you speak of? I am looking for a rack unit myself and this looks pretty sweet!!
    Best of luck with everything!

      Thanks for watching!
Skb 8u roto rack case. A pretty standard eight spaced rack unit, a bunch of companies make them. I went with this one for no particular reason, I guess it was one of the cheaper options. You basically just buy something like this, whichever shelves you want, and organize them in whatever way makes sense for your setup. You'll probably have to do some planning before you buy everything, just to make sure you'll have enough room (I definitely had to). Besides the shelves to put all of your stuff on, I would also get a power unit, the Furman one that I have in this video is very common as a rack power unit.

Any thoughts on how to show lyrics during live performances?

I used to have a (Edit: NOT a MIDI) loop switcher many years ago but forgot a few things about it, if I want to use some effects before the amps preamp and others after it would I have to sacrifice a Loop from the HEX for the amps preamp? I seem to remember the MOEN GEC9 I had had an insert between loops for this purpose.
If I wanted to have let's say 3 overdrives in Loops 1-3, connect the Send of Loop 4 to the amps Input and the Effects Send of the Amp to Loop 4's return (This Loop would be always On), then a Delay unit in Loop 5, a Plethora X3 in Loop 6, and finally the Out of the HEX to an LPB-1 and the Amps Effects Return. It's a compromise I would be willing to make because of the HEX's low profile, would this work?
Also is there a similar loop switcher with 4 cable method in mind? Like the MOEN GEC-9 but MIDI controllable, with no physical switches so it can be hidden under my pedalboard?
I want to congratulate you on a great video that IMO would have benefited from an example with an amp with an FX Loop in it.

      Thanks for the comment,
As I'm reading your description, I feel like that should work. The only thing you would have to do is get a small patch cable to connect the out of loop 1 to the in of loops 2-6, as they are not internally routed together.
As long as you kept loop 4 on all the time like you said, it should work.
Any other unit that is a true 4 cable method like you said (in - loop send - loop return - out) is probably going to be fairly large. However certain ones are a lot thinner, like the voodoo labs gcx.
