  • The Ural owl is one of the many 'Strix' species of owls and native to northern Europe. Ryan has been hand rearing this young bird and in this video, shows how the owlet has become a lovely tame animal that is now flying to the glove.

    I noticed that your GPS transmitter has no aerial. Is that to stop it becoming bent when connected to the leg.

      Hi, I believe that the less furniture the better when flying birds of prey. We only use the GPS part of the transmitter, so the aerial is not necessary (that is juts for the radio part). Due to this, we are also testing out other GPS devices and will publish the results soon on this channel. So in answer to your question - indirectly it is a yes - to prevent the aerial interfering in any way.
