This is a great list! I would add carelessness - someone we know once left the mews unlocked. And our Harris got away when my husband was in the process of securing her to a perch inside, we were airing the house with the doors open (it’s a German thing), and when I set down a basket of laundry, she panicked and took off out the front door. Four screw-ups all at once became a very effective learning experience for us. In part because she is well-manned/-trained (your #6!), she only landed on our garage and we were able to get her back quickly with a chick. Thank heavens we hadn’t fed her that day yet. Since then we have a vice grip on her jesses and don’t air the house when she’s inside!

That's an excellent story Elizabeth, 'carelessness' would cause one of those reasons but it is a good way of putting it. And good of you to tell us the mistakes that you have learned from. I have some videos of that idea coming soon.
