When starting out in a hobby like falconry (handling, training and flying birds of prey) it is best to start with an owl or raptor that is not going to be too challenging and generally easier to work with. In this video, Ryan explains (in his opinion) the best starter birds for those with little experience. Providing the basics have been learned - how to tie a falconer's knot, how to correctly handle a bird of prey, weight management, what to feed, type of enclosure etc - then one of these birds could be a good option.
