Looks great for a budget job. I am getting ready to paint some chrome wheels as well. I don't have a paint area set up with a gun so it will have to be rattle-caning them, unfortunately. But honestly, anything to get the god-awful chrome gone will be a massive improvement. Loved the video and hope to replicate this job in the future. Cheers!
Thanks for watching. You can get 2k clear in a rattle can which will hold up better than normal spray paint. Either way I hope your project turns out good!

I have a blasting and powder coat company and it would be hard to blast all the chrome off without damaging the aluminum underneath. If it was steel plated chrome, sure turn up the pressure and blast away but its still a very slow process bc chrome is not easy to remove, I usually turn down chrome just bc i want it perfect but for the cost it would take your better off buying some other wheels.

You did a wonderful job polishing a turd looking set of rims (mine are just about as bad) to look like new. What a deal for $200. What would it cost to have my 20 inch chrome Fuel wheels get the treatment you mentioned at the end of the video, sandblasting etc.? Where are you located? I live in Washington State. The savings on a new set of rims (I really like the look of my rims) may be a motivation enough to take a nice mini vacation to come and see you. Let me know. Sorry RUclips, no sensoring me this time.
I’m in Wilmington NC. We do not have sand blasting available. Price has went up to $300 now but still very fair compared to new wheels

What grade steel wool? And what grade scotch bright are you using??? Also that double tire covered in one piece of plastic is genius and I'm using on my 13" wire wheels. Soooooo cool 😎😎😎
I can’t remember steel wool as that’s first time I tired that I awhile. Personally I’d skip that as it didn’t do as good as my normal method of just using the red scuff pad.

question why not just single stage them black? its cheap its high build and more durable would look great! and also fill the pitting just my 2 cents

Is there anything else you can do if you don't have a sandblaster or access to one and thanks for the info
For chrome not that I know of due to how it’s a metal. I don’t think anything chemically would remove it. You could sand it off or grind it off but that would take forever
Can you get bulldog or similar product in a rattle can ?
Yes sometimes the local parts stores have it in rattle can form. If not your local paint supplier definitely will or I’m sure you can find it on Amazon eBay

I wouldn't even take this job, let alone advertise I did it... That's gonna chip & peel within 90 days, and look horrible.
Has to be media blasted at bare minimum (or chemically strip the chrome), and tires off. Steel wool & rattle cans won't cut it on chrome.
The reason why I post this and all the other stuff we have done is bc I flat out don’t care 🤷🏻♂️
Will this peel or how long will this last?
It’s the same as the paint on your car. Therefore it should last equal amount of time unless you chip or damage it
