How to Paint over Chrome wheels or rims
Here are the secrets to painting on chrome wheels and how to do a long lasting job. I show you how to prep and the proper products to buy!
    Most important is the prep!
You can't just paint over, you MUST use an Epoxy Primer as your base adhesion layer.
I also have a video on how to polish your Aluminum wheels:
    • ✔ Everything you need ...
I also have a video on how to Fix Rust on chrome wheels:

Also a video on how to repaint your wheels:
    • ✅ Everything you need ...
Paint your Wheels in BRONZE Yankee/Gold
    • ✔ Painting Wheels in B...
As in painting anything, the preparation (prep) is the most important and same goes for painting over chrome wheels.
You must sand, etch the surface, then apply a primer for better adhesion.
In this video, I used the Dupli color paint in grahipte and the dupli-color gloss clear coat on top of painting these Chrome wheels.
    The wheel came out great!
I hope this video helps you with your project. Feel free to comment, I always get back within 24 hours!
Good luck with turning your Chrome wheels into the color paint you like!
Let us know what color you painted your chrome rims. Black? Satin? Graphite grey? Hyper Silver or even Yankee Gold!

I think the graphite really looks nice. It has a richness and more luster but still rugged where as the matt-black is pretty predictable. Nice job! I recently acquired a set of old BMW rims in ugly chrome with really expensive new tires for my old classic. I’m gonna follow your technique to go from chrome to the factory bright silver.

I would like to know because I'm painting chrome rims as well and unfortunately there's not many videos out there showing how to, and what product to use and I want to know if this SPRAY MAX 2K EPOXY PRIMER is actually good. Yes, 100% holding up.
If you can' find the 2k spray max, then you could go rustoleum professional epoxt in the silver can. When a tire shop is mounting on your newly painted rims, just remind then to do so carefully and have a microfiber towel resdy for them, to protect rim.

    • @CruisingTheLand
      @CruisingTheLand  3 года назад

The 2k Epoxy is about $22 per can.
1 can will get it done...
Then the Dulpi color $7.50 each. You will need 2 at most..
Then 1 can clear, which you can do Dupli color gloss, or spend more for a satin 2k clear from Max... about $22
      So about $45 - $60 in paint.
The trigger handle you can get online for about $8.
