Do-It-Yourself wheel painting. Showing you guys a way anyone can paint wheels! I spent a total of $58 including the optional compounding.
2 Cans of Base+Primer = $16
2 Cans of Clear Coat = $16
Sandpaper = $4
Tape and Drape = $8
Microfiber pads + towels = $6
Paint Thinner = $8 - Авто/Мото
Definitely the best wheel painting video yet. I would suggest putting the wheel straight up while painting. The paint can will just work better 👍
That was honestly really impressive the way they turned out.
11 out of 10 that good impressed 👍👍👍
how does it look after one winter lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial, I just did this on my Focus wheels. The stock chrome finish chipped and wore really badly and now they look great!
How does the paint hold up after 2 years.. I see u posted this video 2 years thank u
4 years now..how’s the paint?
@@ajm5261 Honestly, it looks like shiet. I got what I paid for but I'm happy...like my fat wife.

6 years now, how are they holding up?
Beautiful car. I have a 2007 MS6 with those taillights. I was looking at videos because I'm about to paint my factory wheels. Good work.
Nice to see someone doing a wheel paint job the right way. Well done!
hey bro, I followed your vid to paint my wifes rims on her honda. thank you so much, you make it look easy cause it was an all day affair for me and with sore legs from being on floor working on them. thanks again. mine came out nearly professional
Dude you’re so thorough and exacting with your work. They look really really good man. I’m going to try it this way. Thanks for the vid!
how did it work?
Best how to on wheel paint I have seen. Great tips and tricks with the tape and drape, and compound for the final touch.
First class job man, Looks awesome!
Great job. I’ve done a lot of painting over smooth metal surfaces, even chrome, and you have developed a great technique.
It takes alot of touching up.. painted my wheels before exept my process was much longer… I layed two coats of primer and sanded in between.. third day I found two nicks already in my tires.. so annoying.
Thank you for making a good video. Nice detailed instructions and covered the entire process well.
Really nice job man! Looks awesome, this vid got me subscribed !
Great video, but.. Most every paint, whether from a rattle can or from a spray gun recommends that you shouldn't apply any type of buffing compound or wax for the first 21 days after painting. This is because the paint will continue to cure and gas off during that time. If you apply buffing compound or wax before the paint has time to fully cure.. solvents will be trapped in the paint and the paint will remain soft.
this 100%
cutting and polishing compound is normally used 24 hrs after clear. Wax is a no no.

WOW! I'm impressed. i like it a lot. thanks for all the tips.
They look amazing 😍
You Definitely Love Your Car, Nice Job !!!
Impressive job, came out super nice!
Used the same brand paint on my stock wheels for my 2013 wrx, works very well and little tip to anyone looking to do this it’s important to take you’re time and let it complete dry! Great video btw man
hey , I'm planning on doing this to my wheels . would i need to follow the same steps if my wheels are black and have clear coat on them ( good condition ) ?
Fantastic job love the color 😃
Now that is a professional result. Great job man!
You can really tell when a professionals hands were involved. The quality of paint is least important when you got skill like this
nice ms6! I love how nobody watching this knows how dope/fast your car is.
Not a lot of people even know this car exists... it's surely a sleeper! I appreciate it boss
Super impressed with the outcome!
I appreciate it man! Follow all the steps correctly, anyone can get a beautiful finish
Can I ask what is the colour where you find them how it's called this silver
Super good
@@DGCUSTOMCLT How did you choose to answer this with so many other questions above it.....

Damn bro by far! The best how to video on painting wheels. You gived me hope On doing my wheels
Was this paint or plastic dip ??
Looks awesome. Great job!
How do these look now? 3 years later.... Thanks for the video!
They look great. Thanks for sharing.
Perfect tutorial! Thanks for the upload!
Nice job bro !!! This looks amazing
Hey, started with your guide. I find 100grit for the initial sanding to be amazing. effortlessly takes off the existing clear coat (180 take a bit of effort, it's a bit too smooth)
Professional painting. Great job
That tape and drape is dope man
I appreciate you sharing this video. I like the detail, extra steps and care you went to... I usually go a little not on prep and especially the masking [it matters] I plan to redo a few sets of rims... wild likely model the exact steps you showed. On my Winter rims, I will likely used etching primer. Some people dispute Clear coat [I think that it is a must] That finished wheel looked fantastic!!! KUDOS!
Self etching primer is the best
Man you’re a beast with your paint skills!
WoW. Nicely done
Well done!!
Great job man!!!
Wheels came out great!!! I used vht wheel paint last time and it chipped like crazy.. will try this 2 in 1 now.. 2K for the clear though 🔥Well done
They will always chip super fast.. duplicolor did the same for me.. waste of effort
Good clear well explained video. Well Done !
Great DIY, I’d probably recommend a better/stronger clearcoat like SprayMax 2k to help with durability but this process is great.
I always use a 2k but be sure to wear the safety equipment cause that shit will kill you if you breath it
Great video mate … the paint standard is very good 👍🏻 thanks
They look brilliant
Mad vid bro helped me a lot, just subscribed
Wow! Good work!
Great job man. They look awesome. Definitely love your attention to Details 👐👏👍👊💪😎😍
You did a great job!
Best video I’ve found to guide me with the process
Looks sick! Well done
What's all this sick nonsense?
Awesome job 🤩
This looks amazing
Those look great 👍🏾
Looking good, well done
Thank you sir 👍🏻
Not bad at all! Looks perfect!
Gorgeous! 👍🏻
Nice video and they look great! Wondering how they hold up during a tire changes and when the taped weights are applied or removed for balancing.
Tire change ruins the fantasy.
Great outcome! But most impressed with background music selection 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
superb finish superb video !
Excellent video and finish,
Amazing finish! I plan on doing mine soon.
Mazda guy from NC....double thumbs up
Thats a really top job!
wowwwww. that's a fantastic job!!! Ever heard of or tried the "deck of cards" way of masking the tire off? I've painted wheels before and used long note cards and it worked!
I tried painting my wheels.. completely jacked it up.. I will try this this summer to see if I can fix it.. lol
It does look factory mate...well done!👍👏👊
Clean job dude.
Excellent job !
Looks fantastic
Good job and great video! I like to not let the paint dry completely before applying the clear. Like this the clear bonds with the paint and you have less chances for peeling and chipping in time. Also a 2K clear is nice for rims as it is very very durable.
Loved the vid, but I actually had a problem with this. I let the paint dry and the clear sort of crinkled on me because it had no malleable surface to bond with. Wish i didn't have to learn this the hard way, lol. Not sure what I'm going to do with that painted wheel now. Do you have any ideas or tips Mr. Hedgehog?
@@asteriosanagnostou3243 depends what clear you have on there and how many layers and how bad it its. Minor imperfections you could wet sand out with a fine grid and then polish the surfaces. If that is not an option or its too messed-up then youd be better off redoing that wheel.
@@jebbadiah gotcha thanks. I sprayed the clear again while it was still tacky and it seemed to smoothen things out a bit. I'll try a polish when I'm done and see how that goes. Also I'll have to look up how to color sand.
I’ve got a set of Mazda 3 MPS wheels that I want to paint this colour. Will probably try it out first on some other 17 inch Mazda wheels I have to see whether I like it. By the way love your car.
Boutta do my wheels now great video and simple.
XxPROSK3YxX nice bro, it's super simple so I believe they'll look great. Good luck!
Hi, Nice simple video using cost effective paint and clear coat combination. I like that you used a painter's drop plastic sheet all around instead of using cards. Also liked the matte finish paint on your car. Do you mind telling us what brand paint you used on the car body? Does it have a matte clear coat? I'd like to repaint my old car matte black instead of restoring the glossy version. Thanks.
super helpful, thank you!

Awesome job, I'm going to go this route with the exception of using a 2k clear.
Nati_Boy 2K clear is the right route, exceptional product
Looks great theres a good deal of satisfaction getting wheels to look like that for little money .
.
Always use a 2k clear in rims.. I did my rims last year looked sad one.. But use a 1k ckear just like he did..had to redo them them a few months ago..i use spraymax 2k clear them went back with ceramic coat..looks freaking awesome
Great job!
Looks good I wanna do this on my Cx5!!!!!!
Looks so much better than what you started with.
Clean job pal👌🏻
Looks great, I'm impressed! Could you PLEASE take a quick vid of the wheel(s) now? Im sure more than myself would love to see how they look after a year. A lot of ppl bash these afordable paints and that makes us afraid to use them. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
That’s actually a great idea! They’re still looking fantastic after almost 2 years. I’ll find some time to make a quick video for you guys.
@@DGCUSTOMCLT excellent, thanks!
DGCUSTOM CLT That would be great! Looking forward to seeing a 2 year later! Does the clear coat end up like spraying a car? Where it slightly orange peels and needs color sanded? How long did you wait after the clear to use the compound? Awesome job and well explained! Subscribed!
@68Camaro RS/SS sorry if your being sarcastic, but he did make an updated vid, the wheels still look great!
@68Camaro RS/SS my bad, I mixed this vid up with the one by Justin Buice, he must made an update vid on his painted wheels. Look up "how to spray paint wheels like a pro". Sorry about that
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR GOING STEP TO STEP.
Nice job for rattle cans , looks good
Great video. Tack cloth is cheap and great for removing dust and any debris easily
Nice nice, just finished my winter tyres on sunday, metallic black 2 times and 3 clearcoat. Didnt do any rubbing or sanding after painting, maybe next time i do :P 3 clearcoats wasnt too much.. Greetings from finland.

Excellent masking tip
wow im stunned! i never thought it would be that easy. i was gonna sell my car with its scratched wheels but no longer! im gonna try this. do they stand up to road use though?
Hey bro love the vid!!! Quick question: all that paint and clear coat don't affect the size of the holes for the wheel lug nuts? You don't need to cover them?
looks very nice! thanks for the video. :-)
Great job does look OEM
Nicely done.
How many coats did you apply with the Rust-O-Leum paint-primer?
Good video. Quick thing though, I would use acetone over paint thinner. Paint thinner is petroleum based which leaves a residue and could effect the adhesion.
acetone works really good !
dam dude came out great. thanks for the vid
Trying it this weekend....nervous but excited to get it done!
Wishing you the best! Follow the steps correctly and you'll have no issues
I do wheel restoration for a living , you did a favor good job but I noticed some curb rash you could have removed as well as some paints don’t need a clear coat , if you have a paint with a gloss in it when spraying the clear coat it’ll bubble up
Damn, that looks good...
Those really look like factory finished wheels. Great job.
Hey, how does it hold up to the heat from the disc? I had a bad experience with poorly done powder coating and heat...... Thanks for the video.
