Dude thank you so much people, when I was painting my rims everyone doubted me and didn't believe it would work or was gonna last but when I was done they were so surprised.thanks for the diy tutorials. Please keep doing what you do.youre making a difference!💯
Hey @buddysDIY Thanks a bunch for ur vids! My only question would be, can I go directly to the alcohol step if it’s new wheels that I don’t like the colour of ?
Got a tip for y'all here to Mask off the tires - use DISHWASHING LIQUID SOAP! Paint this all over the tire - LET IT DRY go ahead and spray the rim - (dont worry about going over the tire!) When the paint dries hose off or pressure wash off the dish soap it will lather up taking all the extra paint with it! GO AHEAD try it. Used this method hundreds of times, cheap and easy! GREAT VIDEO BUDDY!
I really appreciate how straightforward this tutorial was I was really happy to not have to sit through a 30 minute intro explaining a bunch of bs And more importantly following everything that you said it came out amazing it was very cheap and worth it 10/10
Thanks for these to-the-point DIY videos. My 15 years old Son and I had a great time restoring his factory wheels. This method worked perfectly as you already know. Awesome video.
Thanks, brother...just bought a car to do up for my daughter's 17th and after watching your videos, I have the confidence to do all these cosmetic jobs myself safely and save that all important money. I have an innate distrust of garages due to my own ignorance (and fear) of all things car maintenance...but you're helping me along the way. Quoted £610 to refurb and paint my diamond cut 17" rims and the calipers both in semi gloss Matt)...but I'm gonna do it myself now... thanks again 👊 Gonna put a brand new engine in for her and bring the clock back to zero... but will leave that to the professionals!
I showed mechanic buddy brake caliper trick as he already did his rims....now we doing mine....he got all the tools ,including hydraulic tire remover ...thank you. LOOKS MUCH BETTER .
Nice job for a rattle can finish. Im a professional painter by trade and just rattled canned a roof rack for my truck. Anything can be done with anything!!! Beautiful job my friend!!!
My years of experience with paint : wear a good filter mask , to protect your lungs from the solvents in spray paint . Wear protective a glove on the hand spraying the paint .
So many other videos don’t say how many cans of paint, primer, and gloss you need, but you had it all laid out very clearly. Hopefully gunna get this done as soon as I make time.
Bro I just gotta say how you made this video Is perfect, no bs just to the point. You’ve earned my respect and subscription without even asking. Keep up the grind bro 💪🏼💯
Good video. Something else that works for old clear and paint, Aircraft Stripper u can buy at any parts store. Just use gloves and paper towels and used rag bag. Well vented area. Bubbles up the clear and paint super easy in a few minutes. Then Simple Green 45/55 Water mix to clean after. Let dry and ready to go. Less elbow grease this way
499,314 views and only 13K likes?!! Shame on you guys.. this lad deserves all the likes he can get. Cheers, mate! Another great video. Keep up the good work.

Very creative with index cards. I was for sure you were going to fold them back over the tires though..lol Love watching how you did this from beginning to end. I looked outside at my rim's and want to do mines now..lol.
There are miliions if not billions videos out there but your's are the most simple and easy. My wife thinks i can't even out a screw in a wall but here I'm about to change the look of my for under $100. i paid $950 for her Yukon.
This is awesome mod. I’m deff trying this on my 06 accord wheels. I got the same design and once they get painted black they will look awesome with the silver exterior
The best DIY videos out there!!! Thanks bro 😎 . You’re awesome .👏 The way you explain everything step by step always keeping safety in mind and also indicate why you use certain products is extremely helpful. Great job.👏
Excellent video. I just watched your video on how to paint brake calipers. I love how you get right to the demonstration without the B. S. Like other videos. Thank you!!
I used sheet plastic to mask the tire. If you have a blunt edging tool (what I call the safety-cram) you tuck the plastic under the rim edge with the tire deflated. The wheels may need sandblasting if there's a bunch of rust.
I didn’t have any alcohol or germ-x, so I looked around the house for something I could use to get the dust off the wheels after I sanded them. All I could find was some leftover guacamole from the restaurant to night before. Turns out guacamole is excellent for cleaning the dust off wheels before you paint them. They came out beautiful.
I have a 2012 grand Cherokee that is black I use that trim and bumper paint on all of my faded black plastic moldings it came out amazing after using black magic, back to black. Wich lasted a few months till it was all faded again. I decided to just paint them. I used that trim and bumper paint. They look like brand new. The black plastic around my roof rack was so faded and same result..like new. About two hot summers and still looks like brand new. People always are surprised when I tell them my Grand Cherokee is 2012. Because it looks almost like a new truck. And it Is 9yrs old.
I ended up opting for some 2k clear coat from Max Spray for the finish which made em look nice and glossy. Some like yourself and a friend of mines like the semi look which looks equally stylish
Great video! Ill be doing my rims next Saturday. I was hoping to see you use the wire brush in comparison with the sandpaper. I was debating renting a small 5" orbital sander to make the sanding a bit easier until I saw your wire brush as I already have a high end drill.
Glad to have you. If you haven't already check out the how to flip cars series on the channel homepage! Those are my most popular videos. The subs really seem to enjoy them!
When you were sanding the wheels in the beginning, would you recommend using the wire brush to make the job faster or using the sand paper grids like you did in the video?
Forgive my ignorance, but why did you use a regular 2x primer + bumper paint + enamel gloss instead of an automotive primer + wheel paint (specially designed for wheel rims) + clear wheel paint? I mean it looks really slick but just wondering, I want to make sure I buy the right stuff and don't mix incompatible stuff or have to repaint them sooner.

Haha that was my main motivation to start a youtube channel! Not enough QUALITY automotive channels on youtube!
Exactly
Couldn't have said it better.
Agreed!

Great tip.
As always, easy to follow, quick and to the point. Very well done video.

How’s the paint holding up 3 years later?
No answer lol
If u don't live in gravel roads or salty roads it'll be okay.
Probably not as good as using actual wheel paint instead of bumper paint.

This the best video I’ve seen hands down, you go thru every detail and don’t leave nothing out, great job man!
Very practical and understandable. Not like some other youtubers crapping useless words to make 10 mins thing half hour.

This is the best!! And the caliper video 👌 thanks! God bless you brother 🙏🏽
From Steve. I learned a lot from you about how to paint rims and which paint is best to use, thank you BRO. ✌🙂
I have factory gloss black rims and while you can’t deny they do look superb they’re also the hardest to keep clean and scratch free lol
This is better than chrisfix. Really. Nice job man. That flipping car video was hot af. Thanks for existing and making these videos.

Did mine exactly like this and they’ve lasted for years this guy is legit
I’m gonna do this with my grandpa. I’ve wanted to paint my old car’s rims for a while now, and it will be a great bonding project.
I love your videos and how you are telling and describing everything step by step

Mate what a precision, perfect and beautifully ececuted…
Did you use al 3 Bottels of black Paint
Sheesh had to subscribe. Going to do this to my 370Z stock rims this weekend. You made it look easy.. Hoping I don’t mess it up.
Cheers, best video I've seen of this process so far ... succinct and to the point. Dam, England
Let the tyre down and squeeze some 4 /5 mm electrical wire around between the tyre and rim ,then mask up .
Getter a better edge finish.

brilliant idea with the index cards
How many cans did you use on one wheel?
If u want a really glossy look use the EASTWOOD 2k aerosol clear or SPRAYMAX 2k aerosol clear
Very good video. To the point and easy to follow without getting bored. Good job.
been looking to replace my wheels, but I may try this to save a grand instead!
Is it necessary to remove previous clear coat and sand entire rim even if there isn't much scratch or damage

Wire brush forsure man. Sand after with 400 nd careful not to put super deep scratches with the brush
Why do you choose this over the Rust rim paint? Thx
Simple tutorial and it’s pretty easy to follow 👍🏼
Bro, your video was spot on and right to the point, thank you….
I don't know why but I loved the color of the wheel when it had the second layer of primer on.
Using germ-X to clean rims during corona times is such a weird flex!

Do I need four for each item?
How long does this last before chipping? Or how often do you retouch?
He's using paint meant for plastic and rubber.not gonna last.use enamel primer paint and clearcoat only..rustoleum
Great channel somehow i didnt skip anything and actually enjoy your videos!
Awesome! I'm glad to hear you liked it;)
Hey just watched your channel great work. You made my day.
If I paint the lug nuts how well does the paint hold up when doing maintenance and removing the wheel?
Buy black lug nuts
When you were sanding the wheels in the beginning, would you recommend using the wire brush to make the job faster or using the sand paper grids like you did in the video?
Great video. Really. Confidence inspiring!
One question though. Do you paint the wheel barrels? I thought you’d notice them not being black
Excellent job and simple
How did you paint the inside of the wheel? Did you just repeat the same steps as the front or did you just let it overspray?
Nice job! FYI: if you heat the spray can up with warm water for 1/2 hour with help the paint flow better.
If it's cold you can do that yes! I'm in florida so it doesn't get that cold lol
I’m in Missouri. I leave the cans in the sun which warms the paint too
Love the break dancing bug at the end.
Another awesome video, easy to follow and great tips.
Thanks
Did you spray the inside?
Thanks for the video...quite handy. I am abt to paint my wheels and that should help.
Forgive my ignorance, but why did you use a regular 2x primer + bumper paint + enamel gloss instead of an automotive primer + wheel paint (specially designed for wheel rims) + clear wheel paint?
