This video was super great! Thank you my brother once again for having been with me and the boys in this video, for your unconditional support for the channel and for bringing your followers a sample of our work, I really thank you very much for your friendship. A hug from the whole team. 💪👊🤙
You sir, are a great teacher.
@@gofastwclass thank you my friend
Aa
The car looks awesome Pedro. Did you color-sanded and buffed after ?
no,no I just live it like that@@petar443
As a bodyman of 30yrs, that paint job looks amazing on camera. What a beautiful finish for single stage👍 Nice work gentleman 🙂 Anybody can paint but it’s hard to find great painters. It’s a God given gift to be an exceptional painter
I have always liked the look of single stage black. I had a 79 Trans Am back in the late 80s painted with black Imron and it looked killer and stayed looking good for years.
I worked for a few high end shops 90 percent of our black cars all get painted with Single stage then get wet sanded, buffed, some time we would wet sand and hit it agin with 3 coats of Clear coat then re wet sand and buff
“Imron “ was an amazing durable paint, and looked great, when laid down correctly,
I used Imron on my 51Chevy pickup running boards, … it was like powder coating.
I’m watching this trying to learn how to paint my 79 TA 😂
@@allgasnobrakes4979Good luck with it cheers
I got a 70 Chevelle and single stage was all they had from the factory back then
Looks great guys!
Brian, you mentioned something I feel gets forgotten too often when people look at other people's projects - budget. This proves single stage is a good way to get a budget shine on your project.
I've been watching your channel for a couple years now and it never fails to motivate me to start doing it myself. I get anxious sometimes but i keep telling myself "its just paint!" 😅
Good to see Pedro knocking out these single
Stages with Axalta products seeing all that Sherwin in the mixing room. You will be surprised on how long a good single stage will last. Awesome job guys 👏🏽👏🏽
Wonderful job! Thanks for the tips on shooting single stage. Family bonding is always something to cherish.
Fantastic job! Michael Knight would drive it.
The paint job came out really well, and thank you for the consistent step by step explanation.
Your videos are really helpful and informative! As a diy guy for all my stuff it’s nice to have a supportive channel like this breaking the process down in manageable units of information. I like that you explain the process in each video and don’t take for granted that people have a base level of knowledge. Even though I’ve seen bunches of your videos I’m still at such a low level that the explanation in each new video is a great reinforcement to what I sort of remember from the past but don’t truly have a good grasp
on. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge
OMG.. I'm so thankful that you made this video and you attached everything that's needed. Love, love the way you walked through every step.
That finish was awesome. I love single stage paint. I like to work on older vehicles so thats what was used. I love your channel. You are a great teacher because you can show how to get a great finish with any kind of equipment.
This black TA turned out incredible!
Looks absolutely awesome! I've painted dozens of cars in my lifetime so far and I loved this video. You touched on every single topic a beginner needs to know. "Single Stage" in the title caught my eye. I painted single stage in the late 80's so I had to watch, and then I subscribed. Keep up the great videos.
Old timer painting, single stage. Looks really good.
These were water borne. I did a first class complete on an 83 updated to an 89, torch red, glass and panels removed, looked like a new 89 T/A..loved watching this, so many memories 👌👌👌
I ❤️ single stage … old school , for older cars 👍🏻
And they're very durable. Excellent for daily drivers, pickups, equipment, semi-gloss or flat jobs. I'd say about 2/3 of all paint jobs could be done much cheaper in single stage, but hardly any body shop wants to do it because they're used to and set up for cc/bs.
I used Nason single stage on my fiero 12 years ago, and it's still shiny ;)
Very helpful, brilliant as always.. Thanks very much... Looking forward to my next project!!!
this should be a good watch having recently done a black single stage respray on my 91 civic
A great super video! Nice description....I really like!😅
Looks really nice. Great job.
I'm Brazilian and I live in Florida in the USA. I can honestly say that there are few PDRs that specialize in this type of breakdown. Congratulations Brice.
That looks amazing I’m going to give my truck a make over and this was very helpful.
That looks beautiful
I'd rock that paint job any day. Looks great
Perfect paintjob for a daily driver
Very inspiring! thank you!
Came out great 👍🏼
Great video and a beautiful paint job.
Looks awesom!
Pedro is the man!
Got KITT looking good
Looks great.
Looks very good for single stage
Looks great !!!
Nice looks great keep it coming man I have learned so much u the man don't stop the magic watching an learning 👀🍿💪
God bless and thank you guys
Very well done. I was a little surprised they only went with 2 coats. I'm a big fan of sealer, great video.
Very nice looking single stage!
Well done!!!!
Single stage black can often look better than base clear black.
Great job! Great video
Looks really good
It really looks awesome, I've never sprayed single stage paint.
Wow that's awesome
Love it 👌🏽🔥
I love the car and I love doing single stage I'm gonna be doing my 78 trans am in red this spring
i know that it does not have the pop like the two stage paint jobs, but i love single stage paint cars. i work on all old cars and it just hits different!
Looks good from here! 👍
Looks Great I stopped at this place call maco Auto body and painting and they painted a black Cadillac back the single stage color it looked like a custom paint job it looked so good
Looks awesome
Look really good
Great job!
Man that paint looks great
Top Job Jim Bob….✨👍✨
My paint teacher said solid colors like black and red in single stage make average painters feel like heros. Its a great start.
I can't remember the last time I sprayed single stage paint.
But yes it has brought back memories
Looks good.
Awesome job
Hells yeah Brian! Happy new year to you my brother !!!!!
Happy new year!!
that turned out nice,I have never painted base clear as I was trained to paint with the old fashioned enamal.I worked at the time at a GM dealership in the early 80's ,we used acrylic laqour and enamal. Both paints loved to run if you wasn't carefull. But sadly because of the fumes etc I had to give it up,,last time i held a gun was about 12 years ago but it's like riding a bike you never foget.
Awesome video and love the car!
thanks for all of these videos, had a bumper to respray and aerosol cans where just not working. decided to make the jump and get a spray gun. car is 019 black with clear coat. but decided to go with u-pol 2k direct gloss black and their associated primer. came out better that i could have imagined, couple of runs, but ok considering all the converging contours on the bumper. very little orange peel and car looks great. m from the uk.
It looks bad ass bro, and how cheap you can do it for and doing it right watching these videos, practice then spray it, I have a 84 Chevy Silverado square body I wanna do this to cause I don't need it to be perfect but doing it this way looks as perfect as I need it to, thank you for these videos...
I've done a single stage metalic paint, and it came out decent. I was spraying in less than ideal weather conditions. My point is it absolutely can be done. I need a paint booth like this one, it's freaking huge!
moskvich actually had single stage from factory. while it was better at rust protection, it was worse at looking pretty. for some reason, that metallic happened to shrink with sun shining on it (so i quess heat shrank it) and the whole paint is like spiderweb. and i haven't seen a metallic that says it doesn't need clear. all the metallics i've seen says it needs clear coat.
Looks great, I have not seen another 1990 Firebird in black in years.
Great video and thanks for sharing. I worked at a mom and pops body shop 30 years ago and was a painter. I haven't picked up a spray gun in 25 years. I think it's time to too. There's a few parts under the hood of my car that I will be spraying instead of paying a body shop. I already have the compressor and the hose. I'll get rhe rest of what's needed this coming week.
Thanks buddy! Sincerely 😎
Awesome 👌 👍👍👍👍
Great video as usual 👌 could you talk about the wrist break at the finish of a pass? Just would like to know the technique. .
Another great vid! I actually watch your videos while I'm waiting for a job to flash, not all the time but I still watch.
Question, a 2021 Toyota Highlander, has primer on 90% of the entire driver's side and left corner front bumper and corner of rear bumper.. if you started at 8am, what time would it be when you laid down your final coat of clear? Thanks
I think it looks good
Nice! 😊
After the single stage cures, you can always sand it smooth and put a coat of clear on it.
I've heard if you start with single stage black. Sand it smooth. Then do a coat with 25% clear mixed with the single stage. Sand, then 50-50 single stage and clear. Sand. Then 75% clear with the black. Sand. Then full clear. I heard this is how to get a custom black paint job that looks like you can put your hand through the paint. I've never seen it. But I've wanted to try it since I heard about it. Expensive and time consuming. But probably worth it on the right car
yeah this is an old school method, a lot of the older painter will do two coats of single stage. Then for a third coat do a 50/50 mix single stage and clear.
INSTEAD OF THE EXTRA EFFORT AND MONEY IN MATERIALS, YOU LAY DOWN 3 - COATS OF SINGLE STAGE , OBSERVING THE DRYING TIMES IN BETWEEN COATS , IF YOU USE MEDIUM REDUCER THE PAINT SHOULD FLATTEN OUT MINIMIZING ORANGE 🍊 PEEL , IF YOU HAVE TO BUFF USE 3000 GRIT WITH 3M PERFECT IT COMPOUND USING A FOAM PAD, A WAFFLE PAD FOR THE FINAL POLISH !!!!!
Black car single stage looks great. My single did not come out as shiny.
That looks like it turned out really great. My single stage always has a lot more orange peal than that. I wonder if they reduced it down more than usual.
I use 2 LPH 400, one purple and one orange cap. Great guns.
Excellent
Thanks for the video, wondering can you add flakes afterwards over a single stage paint ?
My Saturn Sky is a black single-stage (GM U8555)...looks awesome ⚫️
Single stage black (commonly "SSB") when done RIGHT, is amazing.
Thats cool i should paint my truck.
I wish my Firebird looked like that when I painted it… my paint booth was an enclosed portable carport
Thank you
How soon before removing the paper?
How long is too long?
Im not a painter, but love your videos. Very clear instructions and recommendations on materials and techniques. 👍
Awesome
Hi i love your videos i learn a lot from it but i just want to ask you i am on the midlle of my project i work on my vintage car merc estate i did some body work and i start respraying i small garage now question i spray prime on vixed panels and rest of panels i used 600 grid paper to ready for paint after i did this i spray 3 time but i didnt spray lacquer yet and only because is very cold in dublin qestion can i sand down before i spray lacquer to make sure is nice and clean and how fast i need to spray clear laquer on paint i can send you some pictures if you like to tell me what you think regards mark .
My first car ever was an 89 Camaro Z28. This brought me back. I had single stage black paint with the same style wheels also. Awesome. Where is your shop located?
I have been watching while I prep my car at night after work! My wife hates this car because it’s taking time from her. But I am a guy! Anyway I got this 2007 Mercury Milan for $400. I am a mechanic and it did not run. I got it running for less than $100 so I figured that I could splurge a little. The paint was not in bad shape. But the body, hay Zeus. Bad bad. So we have a paint both at work and I thought what the hell. That how I found this channel. I have done lots of body work but never painted before. So I think this will be my first attempt. This looks like the single stage paint job I want to try. Thanks for the video. This is an inspiring channel. Representing Gainesville, Florida.
Can you change the order (color, reducer, activator) so you can still use the markings on the cup?
Looks pretty fantastic. Great gloss.
One thing where they could have spent a little more time in body work is on the trunk lid.
Those divots in the trunk lid are where the spoiler mounts. It is supposed to look like that.
I am doing my 87 trans am rn. Mechanic not a painter. Do you have a recommendation for trying to repair cracks on that nose? I know its not like modern bumper facias. Thanks in advance! Awesome job!
Great job on the black single stage paint job. Can we have a video on single stage black , Ford's tuxedo black
Painted my 89 firebird with red single stage. Used a 1.4 tip. I did not get a lot of orange peel with three coats. What tip size do you suggest for Rival 3.5 single stage?
Awesome paint job and video. Please start showing the vehicle all put together. We want before and after pics please.
Could you do this in stages i.e. a panel at a time or would you get colour matching issues?
Will p400 be okay for sanding epoxy primer ready for 2 pack white for my hilux?
Looks lovely Brian, would they be spraying at 28, 30 psi .
Fleet single stage looks really good and durable but that does look good
