    Have you noticed that when the mic is connected via Bluetooth that the Blackmagic app freezes on start up a lot of the time and also pretty frequently drops frames mid-shot?
    Picked one up recently and I’m having this issue. Not sure if it’s just me or if others have this issue too!

    Good one :) I’ve made two videos about this in the past, one the day after it came out since I bought it same day only to discover that DJI «hid» the info about bluetooth to iphone-limitations «pretty deep» on their spec page.
    The one thing you didn’t mention here though is the horrendous quality of the bluetooth audio recording. It uses a lower bandwidth/quality bluetooth audio codec/standard, so audio recorded this way with BT is lower quality compared to using the receiver.
    Now combine that with the disabled backup internal audio recording feature (which could have provided an alternative by syncing up internal recording later in post) the bluetooth «feature» is a very last resort for me :/

    • @JasonRobertsVideo
      @JasonRobertsVideo  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for the suggestion - it's always hard to know how much detail to put in videos - you could of course just use internal recording and then sync to the iPhones scratch audio in post :) :)

    • @AndreSjoberg
      @AndreSjoberg 3 месяца назад

      @@JasonRobertsVideo Yeah, it’s always a struggle balancing what to include, you covered lots of the same findings I’ve found as well :) Using the internal recording to sync with native audio from phone is something I’ve done a couple of times and it works well as a backup solution as long as the phone isn’t too far away :) it’s just a pity dji didn’t use better hardware for better bluetooth audio, then it would have been the killer feature I originally hoped it would be needing only the mic and phone for quick videos :)

    FYI had a long conversation with DJI help desk because it wasn't showing up in the black magic or Final Cut Pro app. Neither apps are compatible with the mic as bluetooth. I had it pop up once in black magic app but never again. Just be aware before buying.

      @@JasonRobertsVideo Yeah it did with me the first time or maybe twice but never again. It's a bit annoying, there is a list of apps that are compatible, but I think it was only two!? They said they would sell me a receiver separately since you can't normally buy it and they would email me the details with a discount for the inconvenience but haven't heard anything from them. A bit frustrating.

      @@JasonRobertsVideo 'As a consequence of restrictions on the third-party app interface, the DJI Mic 2 transmitter is incapable of directly capturing audio in Bluetooth mode. We suggest utilizing the DJI Mic 2 receiver instead to connect to your phone.' FYI the only two for filming on the compatibility list are Filmic Pro and Protake. Hopefully they change it! It seems a good tool.

    What if you needed multiple mics? I assume you can't have multiple microphones connected via bluetooth at one time, so for 2 people you'd need to plug the receiver into your phone?
    I actually need 3 mics, so I'm assuming this set-up wouldn't work for me with shooting on an iphone?

    When Without the dji receiver the sound is low quality. It would sound better to use the phone’s internal mic, or connect a lower priced receiver system (example: Comica, Hollyland)

      You could also record internally on the mic and then sync the audio with the iPhones in post :) :)

    I want to start making RUclips content. Would you be able to tell me if using my iPhone 15 pro, a DJI phone gimble, and a single mic 2 would suffice or should I get the plugin receiver? (I plan to make mostly solo videos but will occasionally interview someone, and I imagined just passing them the microphone I use).

    • @JasonRobertsVideo
      @JasonRobertsVideo  Месяц назад

      When it comes to starting a RUclips channel honestly I would just start with your phone and it's built-in microphone - if you have the money and time then get what you suggest but use the receiver and 2 mics for interviews - there's so much to learn about making and editing RUclips videos over the gear you use :) :) All the best with the channel!

What have you so nice job but you could’ve saved yourself a lot less minutes by just saying don’t waste your time and just connected to your Osmo pocket three orget a receiver, plain and simple
