    • @Fredo.heavyy
      @Fredo.heavyy  8 месяцев назад +1

      Why would it make the audio crisper?
      If you have low frequencies in your voice and the “low cut” filter removes them, you’re gonna sounds worse.

    • @kip388

      If you remove low frequencies you should be only hearing mid-to-high frequencies which is where sibilance and crispiness lives.

      That's a a tough environment because levels are gonna be all over the place but I'll try to explain.
      The closer "source" to the mic is going to get those most isolation, so you have to pick one or the other (your voice or the crowd)
      What you can do is point the mic (capsule down) towards the floor and pick up all the sound in a more "even" capacity. Also make sure Noise Canceling is OFF and Low cut filter is OFF.
      A real solution would be to record a second track with a mic facing the crowd and then mixing the audio in post but that's Movie levels of production work.

    Some people are claiming dji mic 2 has issues with third party lav microphones. Do you think that's true? I had to use the sennheiser g4 system on a shoot and it was so much fun using those that I never want to use them again. The dji mic 2 seems like an amazing replacement for such a system, but for professional use cases I need to hide the mic with an external lav.
    Also some forums claim the dji mic 1 has a loud noise floor/ 'isn't very quiet' compared to the sennheisers. Do you think they've improved the noise floor on the mic 2?

    • @Fredo.heavyy
      @Fredo.heavyy  8 месяцев назад

      The DJI Mic 2 does have limited compatibility when it comes to Lav mics
      DJI did this on purpose so you’re more likely to buy their Lav, which does sound good from what I’ve heard.
      If you’re hiding the transmitter and already have a collection of Lav w/ locking connector then Rode Pro might be for you
      Also I haven’t found any issue with noise floor on the DJI Mic 2 w/ 32 bit audio float

      What software do you use to edit your videos?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam 6 месяцев назад

      @@Fredo.heavyy I use Davinci resolve for the videos and, when needed, Logic Pro for the audio. I’m also a musician with experience in sound production and live sound. Any audio that is muddied or muffled, whether live or recorded, gets a low cut filter first of all. The bass and sub-bass frequencies of the voice are the main culprits for decreasing clarity of the audio. As well as using up valuable headroom, for no audible benefit. (You can’t have the volume as loud, if inaudible rumbles are eating up your bandwidth).
      I’m not saying that there aren’t differences or that the microphone doesn’t need EQ in post. I use EQ‘ing on vocal tracks recorded with high quality condenser mics in the studio. But what I can say with certainty, is that the low cut is not what’s causing the problem.
      Ultimately, no small capsule mic at this price range is ever going to sound amazing without some work. Perhaps DJI should do some more of that work for us, but i imagine that for the majority of their customers, it’s not important enough. For those who do care, they will then have the expertise to do the work themselves.

      @AndyManCam sounds like you’re over qualified 😅

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam 6 месяцев назад

      @@Fredo.heavyy Haha! Aren’t we all mate! Over qualified and under valued! 😅 I guess the mic situation is all a matter of perspective i suppose. I’ve just gotten a DJI mic 2 and came into the experience expecting the sound to be a little lacklustre and needing to ‚fix‘ it in post. I’ve got a Zoom H1 field recorder which with the included lav mic sounds pretty good out of the box. But it can’t do wireless, isn’t as small as the DJI transmitter and won’t interface with my action cameras and phones directly. Horses for courses really. Maybe the Rode would have sounded better, but the form factor and integration of the DJI (I have DJI cameras too) made it the better overall choice for me personally.
      Maybe DJI will improve the clarity with some firmware EQ. Until then, we’ll just have to concentrate on the positives and remember that we can fix the negatives ourselves! 😉

    I'd like to know if the rode pro simply has a better built in mic or if actually they're applying some EQ on device to make it sound fuller like that. Like maybe the dji mic is just a flatter frequency response? Kind of like how images from pro cameras often need some saturation and contrast tweaks?
    Maybe it's just a cope lol.

    • @Fredo.heavyy
      @Fredo.heavyy  8 месяцев назад +1

      You’re not wrong, it’s exactly how a camera can shoot in “RAW” vs “JPEG” and it only matter if you’re modifying the image (color, exposure, etc)
      Spec wise I think I saw the rode pro has a better “frequency response” (more range) , idk by how much doe.
      But in real world applications it’s negligible to me.
      No cope if you want a 32bit wireless Lav system:
      DJI Mic 2 has better form factor + user interface + better case
      Rode Pro has better out box sound + locking lav / time code
      Choose accordingly
