Hey max respect to you noting the BT connection limitations regarding audio quality and one device at a time. I have not (yet) seen any other creator who has this device sent to them call that out. It shows real integrity. BIG THUMBS up to your review 👍
Finally someone who compared the sound quality. On default the DJI Mic 2 cuts through more, a bit stronger and clearer. But the Mini with noise cancellation sounds very similar to the default sound of Mic 2, and the noise cancellation on Mic 2 sounds worse than Mini. So if you need internal recording, then go with Mic 2, otherwise Mini seems fine
OH NO! You were PHOTOBOMBED BY THE CREATIVE ICE GUY! At :42 secs. Oh well when you deliver ice, you're just naturally frigid. I have the dji mic 2, but just ordered the new mic mini. As always you put out a great video! Thanks!
I know I don't need the receiver if I have a Osmo Pocket 3 but at 2:18 you connect the receiver to the Pocket 3 and it looks flimsy as hell. Looks like you could break the usb-c thing with one wrong move. Is it really that delicate?
Hmm... Well, the Rode Me only comes with one transmitter. You'd need to buy a second one of you want two, so the price is higher. Also, the Rode TX's let you connect a wired lav mic -- this DJI Mini does not. So it depends on if those two things matter to you. Personally, I'm living the size of the DJI Mini right now, so I'd choose that one.
Brilliant review! Thank you. I will be buying 2 of these based on size alone! Love that clipping feature, wonder if that will come to the mic 2 as on update
as someone who has both a dji action 4 and an insta360 ace pro, I understand I can pair the mic mini to the ace pro via bluetooth (with reduced quality), but can it be connected while using the usb-c receiver? That would preserve audio quality, yes? I also own a dji action 2. Will it pair with that?
Having just bought the Hollyland Lark M2 I was a afraid before watching this video that I should have waited for the DJI Mic Mini but after watching this video, I'm glad I bought the Hollyland haha. The Hollyland is hits the mark for a mini design and to me, sounds comparable if not better than the DJI in a smaller deisgn and without limiting features that require a DJI camera. Why DJI decided to make the clip permanently attached boggles my mind when it is supposed to be a mini. Method of USB-C connection isn't ideal either as it sticks out way too much.
so MIC2 is still the king? im disappointed with DJI with this release, that Bluetooth to apple audio sounds like 5 dollar mic jesus christ/ that's gotta be intentional
@@Gemini_Connect thanks I currently use a Hollyland Lark M1 tethered to my iPhone 13, I maintain a channel for friends and family you can look but it’s definitely not made professionally :)
If you connect the receiver via USB to a PC: does that provide stereo signal in the PC? So that you can modify the level of each channel independently? [Hollyland Lark M1 only supports mono signal in PCs... don't know about Hollyland Lark M2.]
4:57 Wow! Yup, pretty significant. I have the DJI Mic 2. Thought about getting these for a second because of the nice, small size, but think I’ll pass. Thanks for all of the great info.
My guess is no since any vibration or haptic confirmation would require some kind of motor or oscillator (I'm no expert) inside the transmitters and a motor large enough to impart a discernible vibration would make it less mini than the design brief intended. I've never found Mic 2 to be so excessively big that I would compromise but the Mini will find its place especially due to the integration with DJI's Action and Pocket series cameras. Personally I hope DJI Mic and Mic 2 receivers can be updated to work with Mic Mini transmitters.
Correct, there's no vibration on the Mic Minis. I wish there was though, because it's so hard for me to know if certain settings were enabled when I'm wearing the TX.
@@Gemini_Connect thanks for clarifying. Guess I'll go for the mic2 then. I need it inside my helmet for motovlogging and the vibration on the mic2 was such a great feature allowing me to know if I'm recording or not, without having to take my eyes off the road while riding. Thanks for the video again!
Man this mic must be really sensitive to be able to capture sounds from your surroundings even around the streets. It's a good perspective mic that's for sure.
Wish the clip was removable: it makes it substantially thicker than hollyland lark m2. Question: can you play back video audio through phone speakers without removing receiver? Thank you. 😊
Which one would you say has better quality? Because i might get the dji pocket 3 creator combo because of the battery mic and filter but is it worth it or should i just buy the default package and buy the dji mic mini i get 2 for 169 vs 1 mic 2 transmitter for 100. Im just wondering which is overall better, i did notice the the mic mini sounds more natural with noise cancelation on i think.
If you had to pick either the Mic 2 or the mini which would you choose? Because I personally think that the mini sounds better with and without noise cancellation, but the internal recording is like- a necessity.
Great video thanks for making it. I just wanna do videos for fun and cant see myself dropping $150+ yet for just a mic. I feel like a lot of people are missing the fact it's only $90. Can't wait to see the comparison video.
Yes. But only two transmitters in total. So if you already have two Mic 2 transmitters connected, you'll need to remove one first. If you only have one Mic 2 transmitter so far, it's no problem adding a Mic Mini transmitter as the second external mic (you'll need to update to today's newest Pocket 3 firmware, though).
No, she mentions the exact opposite. The audio sounds fine when directly connected to a DJI camera (because of their proprietary "Osmo Audio" connection), but not good when linked to other cameras or phones via Bluetooth. If you're refering to the end of the video, she means that the internal mic on the Action 5 sounds worse than when the Mic Mini (or other external mic) is connected to it.
Great video. Just a question, to use with the Action 4, which one do you recommend between the mic 2 only transmitter and the mic mini receiver + transmitter? They are almost the same price. I would use mostly for some ambient sound for the video tour on my channel. Thanks 😊
Unless you need internal recording and 32-bit float. Get the mini mic, it has longer battery life and connection range. Also with the mini receiver you can change in between two levels of noise cancellation on the app.
Subscribed - I'll give this channel a go for a while. You know what to cover that a lot of audio reviewers miss entirely and your presentation style is clear and concise. DJI Mimo App question: Does the Mic Mini require being "activated" through that app? The Action 5 does need to be activated with the app or it is almost a brick after 5 uses. This has a lot of owners in a tizzy because the app is short on compatible phones that will even install it. We buy a camera we can't use. I don't want the same thing happening with the Mini Mics I have arriving soon. Thx.
Absolutely! Although becausr it's so small, you'd have to be careful about how you hold it so you don't block the mic or accidentally press any buttons on the transmitter.
Can't believe that the direct Bluetooth connection is THAT bad? I have ordered the Mic Mini, but if this is true then I will immediately return it. This sounds like the cheap Temu Mics...
Why this mini being hyped like this. You can put your regular mic 2 inside your shirt and you will just see a magnet outside of your shirt. And besides, this mini cannot do my sm7b be a wireless microphone hahahaha!
A huge disappointment. In every review I've seen the audio is nowhere as good as its direct rivals (Rode Micro, Godox Cube, Lark M2). Definitely need a direct comparison.

how many magnets does it include in the package? and do they sell one if I lost it?
It will come with 2 if you buy the full kit, if you buy it singular it will come with one
Can you charge pass through the device when the receiver is connected?
Dose dji mic mini receiver work with dji mic 2 ?
No it doesn’t
A great review as always. Well done and a BIG thumbs👍 up.
Is it possible to connect directly to the Insta360 X4 without using a receiver?
I don't have the X4 to test, but it does connect wirelessly to the Insta360 Ace Pro 1 & 2.

Can you connect it to the DJI Mic 2 receiver? And also vice versa.
So the question from last week: Can the Mini transmitter connect to the Mic2 receiver?
Apparently not…

Lmao 😂 yeah that was crazy
Will the mic mini connect to the DJI mic 1 & mic 2 receiver?
Hopefully they will add a 100hz hi-pass filter option in a firmware update...
Can the DJI mic mini transmitter be used to start video recording?
(Edit)
It does using the sync button 5:59
Another great and informative video - thanks for all your hard work!
How to connect with iPhone 13
It does my head in.
After contacting DJI by phone, they confirmed the mini transmitter doesn't link with the mic 2 receiver.
Way to go DJI.
Yeahhh I'm not too surprised. Still, would've been nice to have.
Wow they are really killing it!
Will it connect to the Neo drone?
Yes, it will!
