Should You Buy a Ford Mustang Convertible?! // 2024 Ford Mustang GT Convertible REVIEW

- The 2024 Ford Mustang GT surprised us. Even though this Ford Mustang convertible was equipped with the 5 liter Coyote V8 engine and a six speed manual transmission, it was an absolute joy to live with and perfectly suited to daily driver duties. The Mustang GT is the last of its kind, and Ford has done just enough to freshen up the Mustang GT and differentiate it from the previous generation. The new Ford Mustang has gorgeous high resolution screens in place of gauges, but you can famously switch the gauge cluster to that of the Fox body Ford Mustang if you so desire. The Coyote V8 is powerful and makes excellent noises, and the six speed manual in the Ford Mustang is shockingly easy to row and has a fantastic rev matching feature. The Ford Mustang is as famous as it is because it flatters the driver, and it makes you feel more special than you actually are. Is the new Ford Mustang GT perfect? No, the chassis isn't as good as the outgoing Chevy Camaro and the steering is vague for such a powerful and sporty car. Still, most people drive Ford Mustangs at 7/10ths and never get into a situation where that much steering precision is necessary. (You can tell when it is because that's right around the time it plows into a crowd.) All jokes aside, the Ford Mustang GT is a fast and fun car that outfitted properly is still somewhat affordable for the common man... which is probably why the Ford Mustang legacy endures long after its competitors have faded into automotive history. As a Chevy guy who has a C5 Corvette, the Ford Mustang GT won me over, even in convertible form. It's great fun, and it's absolutely worth checking out.

Also, as a tall Mustang owner I can confirm that I also sit a little higher in the cabin than I’d prefer. Otherwise it’s super comfy and I really enjoy the interior.
Weirdly, I didn't feel this way in the a Dark Horse (video coming)
@@jax1079 Can’t wait for the Dark Horse!
I loved the review! Insightful takes on the options and various aspects of the car. I do need some help though…considering a loaded GT premium conv but wondering how people think it would compare to my 2014 Audi RS5 conv. Both have similar hp V8, but coyote has way more torque. Audi has adjustable JHM exhaust, sport brakes, lightweight Vossens wrapped with pilot 4SPS. Does Mustang feel like a “toy” quality-wise? I am afraid of feeling like I would be making a downgrade. My car is 10yrs old now - it is almost new condition - better than new with upgrades and has under 35k on it. Wife hates how low it is…I think I need more of just a car and less German beast. What the hell do I do? Anyone have experience with both an Audi and Mustang? Thanks in advance!
Thanks so much! Keep the Audi. Sounds awesome 😈
As a Mustang girlie the convertible is a must 🥹
Understood 😜
I feel torn on the new Mustang. As an S550 owner, I didn’t feel like they changed the look enough. It felt more like a refresh than an all new machine. I think the deal killer for me is that the steering is still not great. I was shocked at how numb my steering felt in my Mustang after even comparing it to the giant CX-9. I have loved owning a Mustang, but I definitely want a better handling vehicle for my next (assuming I’m lucky enough to be able to replace it with a performance car and not a van).
This is true. The new Mustang is trading hard on vibes and pageantry, not that there's anything wrong with that, but it does have some imperfections
I just got a vapor blue Gt s650 but I personally wouldn’t ever buy a convertible but there’s nothing wrong with them though.
Wife out of town…..Jax with a mustang…..play ya!!!
Until I underestimated my paleness and got sunburned with the top down 🤣
@@jax1079 ladies response to you in the mustang with your sunburn….”that dude is hot” 😂
@@billseiler4952 Hahaha! Oh, I looked it for sure...
Are you supposed to be daytrading with those dashboard screens 😂
Now that would be a feature 🤣
they didnt upgrade the conv top like the camaro… also hide the cup holders like the 2014…
Unfortunate
Walked across the dealer lot and the silver looks the best by far.
I could see that. Definitely not white
If it’s not a convertible I don’t want it 🫶🏾😍
I really like the new design. Usually I prefer german cars, but if you want to have a affordable cabrio, with v8 thats the car. But can you remove the antenna on the trunk? That looks like shit...
Can't argue with that
I don't agree that the convertible isn't capable of performance handling. It's opinion not based on data. Run the coupe and convertible on a road course with a pro driver. Then review the results.
Convertibles are inherently less rigid platforms which requires suspension compromises
Why’d you make a video about a convertible if you already had a biased View towards them. this video is very subjective and unhelpful.
Because we don't get to choose the press cars... 🤔
@@jax1079 I disagree ... I thought it was an excellent/honest review.
@@Dave-senior56 Thanks!!!
@@jax1079I think your insights are even more valuable BECAUSE u don’t care for convertibles. Everyone else is like a parade of cheerleaders vomiting fluff for the idiots. Your approach and detail was great (for me). Considering trading a 2014 Audi RS5 conv - would that feel like a downgrade for me? Thanks!
@@billpappalardo5568 It would feel like a downgrade 😉👍🏻
your hand movements are making me nauseous !
Too much hand movement.
I'll talk with them about that. They have a mind of their own...
Inherently, but again data would settle the question. If there is a large difference then the question is, what needs to be added to stiffen.
@@user-jc5ws5vf2k Most convertibles have additional bracing, but that adds weight
