Great review as always! Still waiting for my special order Fully Lozded Vapor Blue GT Convertible. Will be my triple 7!!! My 7th Mustang, the 7th Generation model and my treat to myself for my 70th birthday. Come on Flat Rock build my car! Thank you Steve for your thoughtful reviews!
Still carry a torch for the 1988 GT Hatchback. Ultimate foxbody IMHO. Lightweight and easy to dart about. Just put my 1990 35th Anniversary T-Bird SC in storage for winter. 15k miles. A very fun car also.
The Foxbody is a great ride! Had another commenter sell his a few years back to upgrade to a 2021 S550.. misses it but enjoys the new ride. It's awesme to hear from someone who has owned all the different styles though. Think you'll see yours before the new year?
@@CarsWithSteve Just got an email from Ford that there are "supply issues" and I will get an update every 45 days. Maybe a convertible for New Years Day?
@@CarsWithSteve I love it! I hope I can get it in Germany for relatively cheap. Been always my dream to own a mustang and with the 4 cylinder I won't have to pay my kidney in emissions taxes xD
Great video! I'm waiting for the arrival of my Ecoboost convertible and have watched A LOT of 2024 Mustang videos. This one's the best and most informative.
@CarsWithSteve I had a 2011 "sterling gray" Mustang 6 convertible, but I decided it was time to go with all the new safety features. The 2011 didn't even have a backup camera!
This is what I was looking for. I have a GT Premium on order, and it's definitely what I want. Really great review, it's helped me figure out what I want to do before I even get it for some things!
@@CarsWithSteve fully spec'd. Fastback, valved exhaust, PP (sadly no NP), magneride, 401A. I was gonna spend the same on a Supra, but Toyota decided to not send any to my dealership 🤷♂️
@@CarsWithSteve 15 months of waiting got old, so Mustang being updated heavily made me finally jump on it. I'd love and plan to take it on track eventually, but it'll be a while 😂 until then, I'll have a great daily
Wow yeah that would have me looking elsewhere too. Did your dealer keep you updated at all or were you just ghosted by them? With that build it has to be opened up a bit! If you put a video together on it, send it my way
Well done! We have the GT convertible with the 401a and I am definitely on the low side of the technology ability scale, it's been overwhelming/frustrating trying to learn "on the fly". watching you navigate this tech makes me envious!
Nice video/ review Steve! I've read that the new 2.3 uses dual injection similar to the Coyote. This helps with economy, power, and will also help with longevity and reduce maintenance as the intake valves will be "cleaned" by the standard fuel injection used in lower power requirement driving situations. I'm really going to have to get in one of these and go for a short spin.
Oh the MPC and using direct and port injection would have been useful to mention! If Ford's done it properly it should be better performing long term compared to last year's EcoBoost. Take one for a spin, they're a blast!
An excellent review, as always, Steve! I think the Mustang represents the best value for the money in a production "muscle" when you compare it to the cost of a Camaro or a Challenger. So here's a question for you: would you buy the convertable Mustang, knowing that it has to add stabilizers in the sides for body rigidity (which compromises performance), or buy the hard top? This is sort of about a preference for how much of a premium you put on performance.
Thanks Patrick, appreciate that! Great question.. If I was looking for just a weekend driver the convertible would be the way to go. Personally I'm looking at options for a track or drift car right now which the Mustang is close to fitting the bill for, so it would have to be the hard top I was watching a video a few weeks back from a shop that made a custom convertible hard top for a Mustang and it looked amazing!
Can you turn the Start/Stop off for a drive? Like the Edge ST we have you can turn it off, but only for the trip. You have to turn it off on every time you drive.
Yup.. covered in the video when I get to the center stack but it's the little button (an "A" with an arrow above it) just to the right of the ignition On/Off button.
Hey Steve, great review! Weird question since I noticed you didnt mention it.. does the base model Ecoboost with say.. a package 101A have remote start? Or is remote start only from the premiums?
Thanks Melvin! Hah one of the few things I forgot in this video. Remote start on the fob is not available in the 100a or 101a EcoBoost. It's standard in the EcoBoost Premium and the full GT lineup when you get the 10 speed auto
@@CarsWithSteve I haven't seen one yet. I am not a big fan of the new tablet styled dash and the loss of the retro-styled dash, and toggle switches and fog lights.
Right with you on the lack of toggle switches! The Fox Body display in this one is neat but it really is odd to see it the first time. After spending time with it.. I'm looking at it as a more capable digital cluster that's a step above the S550 EcoBoost 201a and GT 401a but chances are someone will figure out how to retrofit a classic cluster instead. Take one for a spin when a local dealer has one on the lot, I'd be curious what you think when you have a chance to check it out
@@CarsWithSteve I saw yesterday a back 2024 EcoBoost convertible, it comes standard with the 101A package. I guess at this point.. getting it in time for the spring might be better so that it doesn't go right in the garage for the winter
