They immediately messed up when they 1: used a somewhat similar starting point in Gotham Knights where they ended Arkham Knight and 2: made SSKTJL Arkham canon
EXACTLY! if both were actually their OWN thing instead of using Arkham has a marketing tool, then they would probably be in better spots than they are now. Only thing is, Gotham Knights would've 1000% benefited from being an Arkham game lol Fumbles all around

@@Salvage1009honestly facts. Despite my problems with Gotham knights I can at least admit the game took place in an alternate universe which was for the better and it’s funny how that game shows Batman a lot more respect than rocksteady did for their Arkham Batman 😭

At least with Arkham Origins, you could make the case that the interview tapes were recorded at Blackgate, but they got sent over to Arkham when Joker got put in there. With SSKtJL there is absolutely no valid argument that could be made for their retcons.
This is not Canon to Arkhamverse. Original suicide Squad was assault of Arkham,that event is Canon,This One take place in different universe

Im choosing to see this game as an arkham adjacent timeline/other earth. Some events from arkham happened, some characters are differen/have different connections etc.
I'm looking forward to the arkham knight mods from suicide squad more than suicide squad itself. The modding support has been nuts and I'm loving replaying it more and more.
Suicide squad brings nothing but bad blood to the table. The community and development surrounding it has been horrible.

Deadshot is black because his comic counterpart got switched in the community during rebirth and new 52, deadshot is still the same in skills ones went up against thugs and Batman the other is up against a alien invasion and the entire Justice league all they did was make deadshot a less grounded character lol

What's weirder is that there technically already is a Suicide Squad story in the Arkhamverse that overall fits in better with the established continuity than the Suicide Squad game which is the Assault on Arkham animated film.

@@gcharles3065You might not actually be wrong. I hope not but Spider-Man 2 and Avengers both had plots in the game that centered around different universes. One thing Gotham Knights did right.

Honestly I don't think it should either because the moment Arkham Knight ended was not only a perfect conclusion for the Batman trilogy but I immediately said I hope we get a super man game next and I know rocksteady wanted to make that game but I think WB said no and now we ended up with the suicide squad game which I was originally excited about until the always online thing happened
So anyone who basically says "SSKTJL shouldn't be cannon because they messed up Batman" obviously never gathered all Riddler trophies to plat the game and see the secret ending of Arkham Knight and it shows.
The secret ending (if you actually take the time to look it up) shows Bruce Wayne entering his house with media all around and the house exploding. The scene then cuts to black and fades back in to reveal Jim Gordan now as mayor of Gotham saying "Who will protect Gotham now that Batman is dead" The camera pans down to see a family of 3 walking in the alley some thugs approach them and dispatch the husband and about to harm the wife and kid. When both thugs look up to see a figure standing on a rooftop and one thug saying "Don't you know the Batman dead". Suddenly the figure rises spreading the cape and having a similar effect to Fear Toxin with buildings and things falling apart as the figure rushes towards the screen you see the figure is Batman but Fear Toxin Batman is referred to in some comics as Demon Batman.
The moral here is 1) Bruce never died and neither did Batman is was a trick because his identity was revealed so he had to do that to make people believe he was dead to protect Gotham. 2) SSKTJL replicates this same Batman during the squad fight with Batman in the game he induces the squad with fear toxin and then navigates around with Batman bursting out of statues or flying down out of the sky but if you notice just like the ending in Arkham knight for the plat this batman is exactly the same as that one. 3) The only speculation for SSKTJL not being cannon is continuity issues between AK and SSKTJL which can be easily explained that this game takes place years and years after AK I think 5 or so years after AK in comics or even more specifically DC 5 years in that timeline can change a lot of things to make it so a lot of things done seem to add up or make sense because us as fans/readers/players are missing loads of information.
Going to try not to type too much more as I'll bet 99% of people won't even read this entire thing and then will reply with points I've already stated in the initial comment above but long story short there's a lot of info being missed by a lot of people and I would gladly help explain to anyone how in fact SSKTJL while not the best game but is definitely cannon and connected to the Arkhamverse and surprisingly fits into the story pretty well.
You know... Batman's suit is actually pretty similar to the one from Gotham Knights... So you could literally just make the game in the same universe as Gotham Knights if you just switched Batman's voice in the game with the Gotham Knights one💀

Hell yeah. You were saying exactly what I was thinking with Gotham knights it should’ve been a continuation of Arkham knight seeing more of how the characters handle Batman’s “death” and somewhere in the game the knights try to hunt down the “ghost” that haunts Gotham only to discover it’s batman alive and then Suicide squad can happen and the justice league come in to help Batman out with his new life and identity out there in the public.

I think we should just give the game time personally and see how it ages, for example, look at Origins, people were just as against the game as they are for this, and now it's a timeless classic, when Knight came out people were bashing it too, and it's grown on just about everyone, I'm not saying SSKTJL will be good, just to give it time

Ok hear me out the white dead shot helped out a younger black dead shot and he became a prodigy (black dead shot ) and when the white one dies the black one took up the mantle and maybe the name is just to hide his real name as maybe Amanda Waller never met the real dead shot so no one would know about the fact that the real dead shot was white
Me personally the ending was ass because depending on the way you go about it you got nightwing,red hood,and azreal who could've interrupted or at least delayed the brodcast also imo the batfamily should've been expanded to include cassandra cain and Stephanie brown
Also the harley and joker thing i gotta relisten to the tapes but if im correct they first meet in blackgate but then after joker was committed she bonded with him as she became his therapist or whatever
While I see where your coming from I wouldn’t make sense to make Gotham knights canon because for one Batman didn’t take his cowl with him then around the Batman reveal if suicide squad we had the comic a Batman from another universe was chasing a joker through different universes and we saw that Batman was mentally affected after his identity was revealed and said you should kill joker and etc

I agree with everything you said I don’t think Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League should be connected to the Arkham verse cause there are way to many inconsistencies with this game and story lines like with Harley and Ivy and where Joker and Harley met and things like that. Now if they would’ve said that this games story takes place in an else world and not have anything to do with Arkham it would be a lot better and a lot more fun and probably even more enjoyable. Like always instead of taking the easy way out for themselves and doing that they want to make it harder on themselves and dig themselves into a hole and do this instead. I get that this isn’t entirely the Rocksteady we all grew up with and love cause not everyone from back then are still there and not a lot are still there from the Arkham games. With that being said however they could still have focused more on how this game could tie in with the trilogy rather than making a mess.

I wouldn’t mind Suicide Squad not being canon to the Arkham universe. Because it’s such a drastic inconsistent swift. I know it’s the Suicide Squad, but the characters don’t even feel like they were from the same universe. Even though this is a Rocksteady followup. It just highlights more why this game wasn’t our first choice after Arkham Knight. Good thing I decided not to care. I mean this is why I don’t need or latch to connected continuities anyone. We’ll see how it all comes together soon enough.

Definitely naw and that's mostly cuz if Suicide Squad wasn't canon to the Arkham verse, then the other devs could be free to kill off the justice league and make the game just be it's own mediocre GAAS for suicide Squad while Rocksteady could have made either a single player Gotham Knights, Superman, Flash, or whatever to continue with the Arkham universe since I feel like it's just fits better for the Arkham heroes to be a single player story driven games. Hopefully Suicide Squad might suprises the fans n prove us wrong, but I don't have much faith tbh

@Sully.. it's a game made by rocksteady, the creators of the arkhamverse. Whether or not you like SS, or its gameplay, it is part and has to be part of the arkhamverse. What happens is that everone are on the hobby of pre-indignation, always ready for disappointment, if it is "part of" youre going to complain, if it is not "part of" youre going to complain anyway. Why should it be part of? Just because.
