The problem is people have trouble separating the concepts of "hard" and "important" in their mind. My mom was a stay at home mom and I'm very grateful for that. But if staying home with your own flesh and blood is the hardest thing you can imagine, you had no business being a parent in the first place.
Making time to spend with your spouse is also important, much more important than spending that hour at work. Does that mean that having a romantic dinner on your anniversary is *hard*? No.
Agreed. Yes it’s exhausting, sooo damn exhausting at times the anxiety can be horrific but i am lucky i get to be a sahm still. There are many women who cant who wish they could. It’s important being a parent but it also gives me joy but no its not the hardest job on the planet lol i love that bit too and honestly on hard days you gotta think like that. Thats why i try to make sure my husband who works hard and has to get up go out in the world and deal with ppl, doesnt have to do much when he gets home from work cause even on the weekends hes doing all the other work around here too. Gotta be thankful! Plus bill is a nice family man still as well now, hes just that one voice in your head saying the things you try not to say out loud 😂 i love him

But that said I fully understand her decision. She had the feeling she was missing her oldest girls entire childhood. So she quit (not all people can do that I know) and she is quite happy being home with her three kids now.

I was a railroader and widower. My sons were ages 7 and 11 when their mother past away. They raised me on Black Sabbath and grunge rock. 10 years later. They gave me a Mother's Day Card. Inside this note. " Mom would be proud of you".

Yes once you get to the playing dvds part its easy, but those first couple of months, baby with colics, screaming 24/7 no break no sleep no going home, definetly hardest thing weve ever done and i did roofing.

The difficult aspect about parenthood is the endurance that it takes. You're constantly at work. Literally. Even when you're sleeping. Even when a nanny takes over, there's always a part of you that just cannot let go and find rest. A true parent stays ON. You just do not get a break for so many years. It exhausts your soul. With any other job you can clock out at some point within the day, or at least resign. There's no resignation in parenthood. It's the certain knowledge that your life isn't your own anymore, that part of the freedom you were born with has been amputated. It really gets on the mind.
And all of this is if you're doing a good job, because if you slip up for even a second, you risk that disaster could strike and you'd be left with an outcome that's permanently worse. You'd need to cope by amputating even more of yourself, but this time nothing could ever grow out of it.
Parenthood truly is not to be taken lightly. If you do then you're naïve and your children will always be the ones to pay hard for it. You know this because you're paying for all the ways that your own parents have underestimated it. We could've been so much more if they had just put in more effort.
Bill lost his dog this year and we can see how much he loved his dog... he's a really good guy ❤️.

I teach ESL and had very flexible hours when my son was a baby. For six months or so I worked couple hours in the morning, went back home to wake him up, changed his diapers, gave him some formula, spent some time with him playing or watching Barney, then gave him a bath, gave him lunch and prayed he felt sleepy enough after lunch to take a nap so I could do the same, cuz by 5PM I had to go back to work until 9.
Was it hard? No freaking way.

Bill Burr is the red headed Bruce Lee of stand up comedy! He’s beyond hilarious with his observations and crazy impressions of people - especially women. “Pit bulls shadowing” - I love that! Bill has a boldness in his comedy that’s authentic and raw. He’s one of my favorites as a fellow comic and as a fan. Keep crushing it on stage, Bill!

I know motherhood can be exhausting but my husband works 14 hours everyday 7 days a week. No way my work is harder than his. Most woman just get entitled after becoming mother.

My best friend had a pitbull named Precious and she was the sweetest dog I've ever known. The only danger she posed was that she didnt realize how big she was and she would always be so excited to see everyone. It didnt even matter if they were complete strangers, she would run up to you and pounce on you and just lick you all over. Unfortunately a couple years ago she somehow got past the underground fence around the yard and disappeared. We kind of just assume that the worst happened to her because the neighbors have a gun and arent very friendly....

Not denigrating anyone's role as a parent, but I used to get up for work at 5.15, take a bus and a train, work as a Primary School teacher, travel back on a train and a bus for 90 mins to get back home and then play, hear read, help with homework and them read 2 lots of bedtime stories. Loved doing it, they were my children but to me lectured by someone like Winfrey that my job is not hard is a bloody insult. Both parents work as hard as possible for their children. Was a military brat growing up and did my own stint. The other day at work our HR lady sent out an "encouragement email" since we are working from home during the virus. She started with when, as a military wife how she had to manage the house with he 2 kids and how mothers are used to this blah blah. Look, love my mom and she took care of my sister and i when my Pop was deployed and im sure we annoyed her etc. But this HR ladys husbands deplyed and even if hes not getting shot at , hes digging ditches, getting up at before the sun comes up , maybe out on the flight line loading missles in 100 dgrs in Afghanistan or sleeping in a tent for 6 month in Cosovo fixing jeeps. Hey HR lady just shut up.
She basically hijacked the pandemic crisis to get sanctimonious about being a mum. That'd piss me off, too.

I got hired from a roofing company worked the first day in a hotel, when I got home I was sore from all my body the next day I had fever was tired that day I quit that job and I tell people that's one hard job to do.

I’ve worked many different jobs in my life but one hour at my sisters daycare and I ran out screaming. You can’t take your eyes off the kids one minute! No breaks, no bathroom breaks, and when they get quiet, that’s when they’re up to no good. They cry, scream, hungry, dirty, diapers, all day long, no break. She worked a lot harder than me. She had to watch 5 kids. 5!
And they're constantly throwing the toys on the floor. And youre constantly picking them up so they dont fall on them. No control or discipline because have to pretend to parents that everything is hunky dory! In preschool if a kid isnt behaving the assistant takes that kid aside until they calm down. Hated it. Thought I'd do well with babies because Im nurturing but was afraid id drop the linebacker baby! Out of shape! Should have tried preschoolers.
Honestly, I've googled the hardest jobs and as someone who doesn't want kids, I'm taking all of those over being a mother. The only exception is teacher because that to me is motherhood with more people involved. I'm pretty sure if you even ask parents working these hardest jobs what's harder, they would choose being a parent. I'm assuming they are good parents who are there for their kids. I lived with my cousins when I was little and even that was exhausting.

The first time my son and I took Vivian (to the park) a full grown pitbull his mom brought home from the pound. A guy stopped playing tennis, walked to the fence, pointed and said "that's a pitbull." The look on his face was as if I were walking a tiger. Vivian was one of the most gentle dogs, I have ever known. She is missed.
