OMG when was this epic episode aired. And how many "ufo"-centric questions were thought up for possible answer by Pete. This is amazing. So glad it isn't lost forever bad quality notwithstanding
May 1979. So 4 months after Strangers in the Night was released. This is when they were at their peak and Schenker had just left. I believe Schenker left December 1978. I was a sophomore in High School when this was aired. I didn't even know it existed til now. And I was a huge fan of UFO in high school too. Shows you how crappy media was back then here in the USA.
We engage in this stuff all the time at Facebook fans of UFO, I i love it, Schenker's situation immediately following the album, MSG new box set, and Paul Chapman and Lonestar, etc et al
You'd burn up more calories playing a musical instrument the way PETE did in UFO......With his Gibson Thunderbird he used to jump all around the stage.....lol

Pete said in his book that he and Kiki Dee were getting loaded whenever the camera wasn't pointing at them - whiskey or coke, can't remember which. Maybe both! :)
This mindboggling to me. The producers of Hollywood Squares were sitting around thinking, Hey, we need do a music week thing, and we need a rock group" and somehow, they managed to pull UFO out of the hat. It just doesn't strike me as an obvious choice. I mean, UFO were obviously a huge band in hard rock circles, but I would have thought for something like this, they'd pick more middle of the road artists (and indeed, everyone else, other than maybe Rundgren were more MOR). Then again, I recall they also had the Tubes on, some maybe someone with influence on the show was a genuine fan.
I remember watching this episode. I was a junior in high school. My granddad passed away the end of may that year. The 70's-greatest music ever.
Another one gone, damn...RIP Pete Way forever
Most on here are alive still that I know of
I read his book,Pete was doing blow underneath that desk thing they sit at!
I'm reading it now. It's so good.
You'd think he'd perpetuate myths anyway, but what about Zonked out Paul Lynde??
Pete was all over the place...R.I.P.
Pete Way is a legend - Love him !!!

Could you imagine the answers Michael shenker would have given?
UFOs less likely.... scientifically if we're talking extraterrestrial life forms haha
How good was Herr Michael's English in those days?

This was a nighttime syndicated episode.
