    People ask us hardcore UFO fans what is it all about, what's the one thing that puts UFO above everyone else in the rock & roll business. It's the gallop, that's right when Michael Shenker & Pete Way played together there was a gallop (like a horse at full speed) effect in the music. Horsepower was what made UFO the best.

    • @IAm1InTheIAm
      @IAm1InTheIAm Год назад +1

      Oh you nailed it: Gallop. Driving Force. I believe that's the quality of what has made this my Go-To Song default for 40+ years, when doing something 110% and second best doesn't count: on the track, on a fast wave, a big mountain, a big hill; when you need to pull out all the stops and just go....that's UFO.👍

    Schenker has always been the most melodic and precise guitar player in rock, every note means something and not just inane twiddling of scales. His solos are pieces of art that should be more widely acknowledged.

    a lot of people today don’t know who he is and that’s really sad. I can say without reservation that strangers in the night UFO live is absolutely positively one of the greatest live rock albums ever bar none

    • @mpreiss7780
      @mpreiss7780 2 года назад +1

      I agree about Schenker but, Led Zeppelins 1978's the song remains the same album is IMO #1 and Jimmy Page is #1. Schenker is top 5 for sure. I was 14-15 years old at that time and had dreams (like many others)of making it in a rock band but I soon realized I did not have near the talent needed to actually make a living doing it. Definitely Rock's best period. Another couple runner up's on live albums are, Scorpions 1978's Tokyo tapes(another Schenker) and Rush's 1976 Rush live album All the worlds a stage, Geddy's voice was in it's prime and talk about under rated guitarists, Alex Lifeson never gets mentioned in the GOAT discussion

Double live Gonzo , Outlaws “ bring’em back alive” , live Who & Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, and countless hundreds of others . Anyone who was fortunate enough to live through that great era in music back then knows what I’m talking about here. Never again will we see such an amount of amazing talents and music . Today’s stuff just doesn’t cut it in my opinion.

    "Who made who...who made you..." The gifts of GOD are without repentance. Saw UFO fronting
    AC/DC on the American Tour at the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee. Michael Schenker was mesmerizing...AC/DC came and watched him from behind the veloured stage curtains. By the time Schenker lifted up from his pedal, our faces were on the floor between knees of our skirts. When that happened, there was a loud gasp...and deafening applause. Schenker was phenomenal! Wispy, unassuming, uncharacteristic, and pure flying V phenomenal guitarist. We humbly thank the LORD for Michael and his family, especially his dad, according to his brother Rudolph, a/k/a, the Scorpions, for allowing Michael to leave school and play for us. Thank you LORD!!!

Michael Schenker stood to one side with Gibson flying V between his legs, blonde hair hanging down, and the licks he played was absolutely spellbinding. One of the best gigs I ever saw. Man this brings back some fantastic memories. I saw UFO with Michael Schenker at the Glasgow Apollo back in the day. He was and is a fantastic guitarist but as 14 year old witnessing his art was a life changing moment. Strangers is the best live album ever!!

    British rock bands of the 70's.

    Accidentally seen UFO's Stangers in the Night tour in Minneapolis in 1978 as we were going to see Rick Derringer. We never even heard of UFO before even though they were headlining. We almost walked out of the show after Rick Derringer, as we thought UFO had to be some weird punk/new wave band, but decided we would stay for a couple songs to check them out and were BLOWN AWAY! (We were also tripping out bawls big time that night) I never forget it! It then lead us to discover the Scorpions, and since then 45 years ago, I've been a UFO/MSG and Scorpions fanatic, and amateur guitarist, trying to pick up and learn their music. (But the tripping days are long past)

    Bands in those days like UFO, could play a ballad, then blow your doors off. It was great music with incredible melody and harmony. I miss the days if analog recording, tube amps and cords all over the stage. We hear physically and emotionally in waves, not digitization ✌

    I saw them at the Capitol Theater in Flint Michigan in the Early 70's. I'll never forget it. Michael Schenker stayed to the rear until it was time to solo. In head to toe black leather he comes to the front of the stage, stops, jams that white flying V into his right leg, every eye in the place on him. After the blazing solo he would retreat to the rear giving the audience time to close their mouths and reflect on what they just saw and heard.

    Had Schenker not quit in '79, UFO would've probably been huge in the U.S. like they deserved to be. If they had come up with a killer studio album to follow "Strangers" perhaps AC/DC status as far as cracking the market.
