- While Infinity Train may be ending, we still have one whole Book left! Book 4: Duet follows the story of Min-Gi Park, Ryan Akagi and Kez. In todays video I'm here to give my predictions and theories, as well as talk about the identity of the antagonist, if the events of this Book occurs in the past, and what the main conflict will be. All aboard the pain train, because I can already tell that this one is going to be pretty painful. Infinity Train Book 4: Duet premieres on HBO Max on April 15th.

Gonna clarify something here really quickly, since I'm seeing a lot of people jumping to the conclusion that Amelia is going to kill Ryan or Min. That wasn't at all what I was implying in the final clip. What I WAS implying was that Amelia has a history of hurting all the Book protagonists (directly or indirectly), and these two won't be any different if it follows things thematically. It's incredibly likely that she's going to harm them, but is incredibly unlikely that she's going to try to and/or actually kill one or both of them.
Amelia is a very hands off antagonist, and she doesn't really go after people unless they go after her first. That's because, to put it bluntly, she doesn't really care about anyone else. Even with Tulip, it canonically took her months of interference before she sent The Cat after her. And even then, she wasn't trying to harm her. Trap her in her tape so that she could take One-One? Yeah. But her intention wasn't to kill her. Even when Tulip confronts her, Amelia tries intimidation tactics to get Tulip to leave before resorting to violence. She tries to settle things with her multiple times before ultimately loosing it after Tulip rejects her peace offerings and both breaks her robot and forces her to relive her trauma.
So what I'm saying here is that Amelia is incredibly likely to accidentally hurt or cause problems for Ryan and Min. Not kill them. If she's just gained control of things, it's possible that The Steward becomes a problem for them (as it's implied). It already was a problem for both Grace and Tulip, and I think with her being newly in control it's very likely that it's even worse for these two. The only one who's gotten their number higher than Amelia has been Simon, and that was because he directly tried to kill Grace. That was intentional. I think if Amelia ever tried to or actually DID kill someone, her number would be much higher.
Also just beyond that, if the Crew decided to kill off one of their Gay characters, that would be problematic for many reasons. I VERY highly doubt that the Crew would do that. I know that this isn't that serious, but I felt the need to clarify. I think it's very possible Amelia has killed Denizen's before, but I think she has yet (at least at the point of this Book) killed/tried to kill a person. Again, she's a very non-confrontational antagonist. She only cares about her goal, she doesn't care what others are doing unless it's inhibiting her or stopping her from reaching her goal. I mean, she doesn't even directly fight Simon even when he's attacking her first. Anyways, I'll get off my soapbox now. Stream Infinity Train Book 4 on HBO Max on April 15th if you're able. Thank god, This makes me feel better that these characters can have some what of a happy turn around maybe because in the last clip I thought it was going to imply that she did kill one of them or something
I don’t think that simons number was up so high because he tried to kill Grace, I think it got so high because of how he killed Grace. I think that the number got that high because he gave up on getting better. The numbers are supposed to gauge how close or far away you are from solving your problem, and if you get further away from it, or run away from it, your number goes up. I don’t think Amelia’s number was so high because she hurt people, but because she went in the opposite direction of solving her problem. Instead of working through and processing her grief, she took over the train to try and recreate her past life. In doing so, she hurt people, but I think the number went up because she ran away from solving her problem. We don’t know what Simon’s original problem was, but we can see throughout book 3 that he has trust issues. Samantha left him to a ghom, and it traumatized him. It affected him through the rest of his life. When he killed Tuba, it very clearly had trust as part of the equation. “Teamwork begins with two people trusting each other, but you’re no person”. He started to trust her and he was scared of that, so he killed her. In the first half of the book, he always seems to be trying to please and impress Grace, and when Grace pulls away, he starts to take drastic actions, visiting Samantha, and looking at Grace’s tape. The “we just won’t tell Simon” broke him, because it was confirmed that she was keeping stuff from him. This threw him into overdrive and put his number way up there. He decided he couldn’t trust anyone, and when he returned to the apex, he turned them against Grace. When he tried to kill her, it was after she saved his life. She offered him her trust, she extended an olive branch, and he had a final opportunity to work for redemption. He then tried to kill her, and in doing so, abandoned any way of working towards fixing his problem. His number got so high because he was as far away from working towards his problem as you can get. If someone killed someone else in a different way, for example in the same way Lake killed Mace, the number might have gone up a little, but I don’t think the killing alone is what put Simons number that high.

So I think the story is that they're either gay & haven't admitted to these feelings out of fear that it would ruin their friendship or Min decided to give up on their musician dreams so that way he could go to College both theories could led to a big fight between him and Ryan then they both ended up on the train for one of those two reasons.

Not gonna lie, when I saw the trailer I also immediately thought that maybe their shared "problem" stems from repressed romantic feelings for each other. It'd be an interesting theme to tackle for a kid's show, and also possible in this day and age.
That's exactly what I thought to when I saw it. I would really love to see that representation especially since we never see gay male relationship with main characters in cartoons, so I'm really exited to see if that is the case here!

I just want to add, of all the rockstars of the time, they chose for Ryan to emulate LGBT icon David Bowie, so... yeah.
I kinda hope it takes place right before Amelia does her takeover, mostly because I want to see One-One back when he was just One.
EDIT: Wanted to add some junk because I got stuff to say.
I seriously don't get the "Ryan and Min are One-One" theory. First off, Ryan (the optimistic one) is not British. While I know that's not a big deal, it doesn't make sense. Also, why would this happen? One was probably not a bad conductor. He may have had a 'no cost too great' mentality, but the passengers actually had safety boots and uniforms. So I don't know why he would need to be fixed. Along with that, Amelia knew One-One while he was One. So if the theory is true, then when would they meet One-One and make him the way he is now? Why would they go into the Snow car, rewrite him, and then leave him there? It doesn't make sense. Along with that, Min is not on the same level as Sad-One, not even close. He does, of course, contrast with Ryan, who's an Optimist, but I would say that Min is a realist. Not even a pessimist. While Sad-One is a pessimist, and straight up nilhistic.
My personal theory is that whatever Amelia did to disconnect One from the motherboard broke him. Whoever the creator of the train is, they wanted a completely neutral conductor, so they made a robot with both extremes, balanced out. How he acted in the unfinished car is what he was like all the time. But then Amelia did her thing, and it desynchronized him. It wasn't extreme at first, but then the loneliness of the Snow car kicked in (the confirmed reason that One-One is like that), and he willingly separated more and more, until he was very out of sync.
(oh god this comment is long now. But One-One is my fave character, so whatever)

@@darwinstarr6752 It's a mystery. I think it might have been confirmed that he used his ability to split in two because he was lonely in the snow car for 33 years, but I don't know where it was confirmed.
Imagine if this happening before Amelia would mean that the "jumpsuits" are being worn by the chosen passengers to update the current One.
Ryan seems quite optimistic while Min seems a bit more realistic 😲

We’ve already had a glimpse of One already I think. Back in season 1, in the unfinished car, One-One became obsessed with fixing this “broken” car, and his two voices even synced up at one point. I think that must have been what One was like before he became One-One.
They are gay. They are in love. I am not taking criticism......I just hope they can have a happy ending 🥺
I hope that we get more lgbtq rep in shows and infinity train is a good one it should be in.
Let’s hope we get an Infinity Train movie for Amelia and Hazel to finish off their stories and maybe see them both leave the train as a more Mother daughter type of relationship.
Didn't the Creator say that this story is self-contained? So, I'm pretty sure Grace's story, Amelia's story, and Hazel's story is not gonna get a conclusion.
i hope they dont force amelia to have a daughter figure, because thats kind of a stereotype at this point in kids shows/cartoons
@@aadamsavul3044 Yah well if anything does come with Hazel and Amelia I don’t expect her to leave Hazel behind or kill her to get off the train it’s more in likely gonna be that Amelia will sudo adopt Hazel and protect her.

However I think what Amelia didn't like about being a mother was the ideal that was probably perpetuated in her time period, which I think ties in with her being a feminist of that time. So if she realises there are multiple ways to be a good parent, and that she doesn't necessarily need to give up pursuing engineering or even be traditionally feminine in order to take care of Hazel, I think that would be interesting character development.
I would be relatively content if after Book 4 we got a movie about those two. Of course I would love to see all they they had planned for all of the 8 seasons. If we get a movie to wrap up Amelia and Hazel’s story I’d be more okay
I really hope the main characters are gay. So much lgbt+ representation is between two women, which is fine, but as a gay male it's sad that we are even more underrepresented.

They covered Lake’s transcoded-ness without causing any uproar. I feel like an 80s mlm depiction would do wonders to show how hard it was, and still is, to face homophobia and self-hate.

I think this will be the problem on the surface. Maybe they’ll have a moment where Min confesses that he doesn’t want to be a musician anymore, Ryan will finally accept that but their number won’t go to zero and they’ll be like what else is there??? My other thought is that one of them know’s they’re gay and the other doesn’t. Maybe Min is pushing Ryan away because he’s afraid of the feelings he has.
@@julesucodecaixinha "romantic feelings"? Just because they are best friends and in the trailer we see them protecting each other doesn't mean they have to 100% be gay, they are friends since childhood and they are like brothers. But let's wait and see if it is true or not, only time will tell

Do you have any theories on One-One? I heard some saying he has to do with the new protagonists, and that he used to not be split. This is showcased with how Amelia calls him "One", and the old train outfits have his image, but with only one eye instead of two. Then there's those leaked storyboards...
I have a lot of theories on One-One, but they would warrant their own videos because of how much I would need to talk about. I might need to wait until this Book comes out, since it seems we may get answers on that. The gist of it is that One became One-One when he was ripped from the console, and that he was a much different and ruthless conductor before being ripped out. I think he only shows empathy because of his journey with Tulip, and he's going to slowly revert back to One. Unfortunately we won't ever get to see if that's true or not, but that's my very brief and simplified theory.
@@ToonRuinsOfficial that would be sad, for One-One to lose his humanity. I guess Tulip was kind of like the reverse-Amelia, because she healed the train and made it a better place for passengers, whereas Amelia seems to have just made it more chaotic and indifferent to its passengers.

@Milady it’s super weird since those storyboards were supposed to be on book 4, but now there are no clues that they continue with the story of Amelia and Hazel. I can’t think about how they could include those storyboards (sorry i can’t speak english🥺)

Another thought I had was just how unique it was for two passengers to board at the same time with the same number. Like... it's never happened before? I feel that makes it less likely they have a "normal" problem. My first thought upon seeing this trailer was noticing that the old uniforms only displayed one of One One's eyes, and that Amelia always just called him "One." I'm wondering if these two passengers are somehow connected to One One and his development given the the emphasis on "two halves of the same whole" vibes I'm getting.

This book looks and sounds as incredible as the others. I'm incredibly sad that this will probably be the last one.
I’m a 90s kid, homophobia plagued my family and I grew up hating myself for it. To this day, I feel unsafe reveling who I am face to face with others I care about.
I know the world is much safer, less people willing to hurt or harass you then before. All that shit I grew up hearing/being done to me left it’s mark. Regardless of how I rationalize things and try to find ease, I just can’t.
A lot of younger people are lucky enough to have significantly better environments, I just wish media could show the world why some of us still face self-hate and isolation.
This is one reason I hate the word “Queer”...
Geez, that's the worst! Coming from a non-binary teen, I'm really sorry you had to grow up in that environment. My heart always hurts for those who didn't get the same access of acceptance like what we have now. I understand why most wouldn't wanna use the q-slur since it was, well, a slur. I self-identify as q***r, but I'm totally fine with others who really resent it. It's why I think more lgbt stories need to be told, with more variety too! We gotta keep sharing our stories , so that we have the chance to learn from each other.

I really love this analysis! As an asian lgbt person, i really, really would like to see asian lgbt rep in media and i was very very excited upon seeing the potential that book 4 offers 🥺 i would be surprised if its truly just about friendship, but lets just say for now my coins on 'theres definitely some stuff going on'.
Also check out one of the official IT writer's playlist on book four ;) its just full of longing about a sort of soulmate you cant have omg. And about moving apart from one another. Its so heartbreaking...
edit: also to add, one of the songs within the playlist collection is a theme song to a movie that, as i would summarize: About a man and a woman who after a train ride together, decides to try a relationship again with each other after clinically erasing their previous terrible memories about their failed relationship
And since most of the playlists that ive seen from the writer is really true to each character's persona.... Id like to think these two at least resolved what they had in the end...

This show has done so amazingly with diversity! So glad to see Asian representation on screen with these characters: two Asian men of different Asian backgrounds (Japanese and Korean) and without being siblings.
If the theory of their romantic feelings for each other is true, then that's another positive step for representation! I hope to see it!

I'm wondering if they'll run into Amelia as another passenger first, and she may even stick around as a (reluctant) companion for a couple of episodes. Their behavior may even reinforce her disdain for patriarchal structures. After a few episodes she may split, cause her trouble, and leave the other two to resolve their arcs.
Hope the final episode is at least 22 minutes

I find it very ironic the first train both Tulip and these two show up on are the snow car. At least from the trailers perspective. Maybe thats my Galaxy Brain talking though.
I saw the trailer and immediately thought, "they're gay for each other, right? Like they have to be" and I'm glad someone else agrees
Ummmm both of their numbers are 202? So 202+202 = 404 aka *error* . But I think that what’s happening is that they’re both too attached to each other, as one of them is dressed “more passionately” in music compared to the other, and yet they’re in the music business together. I think it will be revealed that altough they grew up loving music, one strayed away from it as he grew up, and that they have to figure it out together that although they were once very close, life changes who you are as you grow up, and you just have to accept it. This may also be why their numbers change together, as they’re problem is *being together* .
So later in the trailer, you see they get their clothes back but they're still on the train since they're with Kez and have the grav shoes. Its clear in the museum scene. How do they get their clothes back?
I actually have a theory that they've been on the train for far longer then they think. That when they enter the train, they did kept their clothes and had different number. Then one of the number hit zero but the other didn't want to get off the train (I get the feeling that it will end with one them deciding to stay on the train to help new passengers while the other will leave). So, the one that didn't want to leave somehow mess up with the other memory and number...
Maybe they are inside of one of their tapes, and get to have their original clothes when they are in it

@@me2636 You forgot the moment in book 1 where Tulip could leave the train, but decide to stay to help Atticus. One One had to reopen her door for her. It's only if you take your door like Jessi in book 2 that there's no going back... Unless you find a new problem.
Even those I know it's less likely I do hope we see the appearance of Hazel and Amelia and or Grace in this.
There were a few storyboards of a young Amelia in the crews book! so its more likely than you think ;)

Amelia isn't really the type to be drawn to (human) murder easily, especially not this early on. Even with Tulip, it took months of interference and re-lived trauma for her to try and kill her. I was only implying she may have crossed a line in hurting either Ryan or Min by accident, or the Steward took things too far without her there to stop it. The only one to get their number higher was Simon, and that was from him directly trying to kill Grace. So I don't think any physical harm that she would do would be intentional (not this early on, obviously she resorts to it later).
I don't know why, but after looking at the trailer a few times, I get this sad sinking feeling towards Ryan like something's gonna happen to him: Not in a whole "he's definitely going to die" thing, but more like he's much more likely to get hurt or in danger.
It makes sense, imo, he's clearly the more extroverted one and likely is the one out of both of them to take on more dangerous challenges...that and the whole "toss yourself in harm's way to save a friend/love interest" trope IS often used for the bolder, more outgoing person in any cast.
I don't really think he's going to die, but I DO think he's probably going to get hurt in some way that sparks Min-Gi to force himself to be blunt and fully open with things.
Edit: I Remember that for the other book's protagonist, they were usually introduced in I think the 6th episode of each book (Tulip with Mirror Tulip in the Mirror car, Jesse and MT with Grace and Simon, etc)
....and now I worry that the episode of Book 3 in question had a Ghom in it cause I've heard theories of dead passengers being turned into the ghoms AND NOW I WORRY-

Haven't watched the full video yet. But there's a piece of evidence abot Book 4 beign set in the past that I don't see people talking about. In episode 8 of Book 2, when Lake is with the cop (i forgot his name) inside the ball Alan Dracula created, there is something written in the ground of the wasteland. The thing is: it is written in Korean!! Idk what it means because i don't speak korean lol, but i bet we will get a scene of Ryan and Min-gi in the wasteland, and Min-gi will write that!
I'm pretty sure it was just a production note since CN outsources their animation to Korea😅 but wow would that be incredible attenton to detail!
Plot twist: Book 4 takes place in a completely different Infinity Train that focuses on therapy on relationships(marriage, couples, friendships).
But didn’t the bell say it never happened in train history?
Well we’ll know if we see the cat, she said she hasn’t had a vacation for 500 years if I remember correctly. So we may be able to see her like all the other seasons.

Going to admit that the gay theory makes sense, but because of the "mortal enemies" remark by Kez and how they react to it, I can’t help but wonder if maybe the problem is that they’ve grown apart rather than closer. It’s hard to admit when we don’t care about our childhood best friends as much as we used to, and that could be their problem. Both might want out of the friendship, but don’t want to be the one to end things, nor admit that want to move on to other things in life away from the other. Idk, I’m probably reading it wrong

I don't know if I would pin my hopes too strongly on the ultimate reveal being that they have feelings for each other, and that that's their problem. It would be really cool if it is, but it could just as easily be that Ryan is the one who wants to be in a band, and it's not actually Min-Gi's dream even though he's been happy to encourage Ryan until it's actually upending their lives. Ryan is the only one that we see in face makeup or performing, Min seems kind of over it, especially on the train. I would just hate to see people's enjoyment of the show be tinged with bitterness that the representation that they were hoping for turns out to not be the direction that they were going in.
I remember hearing theories that they might be Mace and Sieve's primes.

I think Lake was a good representation of being trans/ non-binary, they had a really good arc in book 2 about finding their identity.

You know what'd be a pretty great cap on the series finale? If all the previous protagonists (Tulip, Lake+Jesse and Grace) attend Ryan and Min's concert in NY. It's awkward, at first, but everybody has a good time

i’m really upset about this being the last book this show is amazing and i’m very disappointed that this isn’t hazel and amelias story. this looks like a great book but i really hoped book 4 would be hazel’s book but i hope we atleast see hazel during this season.

The notion that Ryan and Min have homosexual feelings for each other is very plausible (especially if you are aware of how David Bowie and Freddie Mercury used to work together). However, the trailer does emphasize a bit more on Ryan and Min's "rock band", and how it appears as though Ryan and/or Min might be having second thoughts on playing their "big gig" together! It's likely that at least one of them was looking to "quit the band" shortly before Ryan and Min arrived on the Infinity Train, and it would seem that this "secret" was "somehow" revealed either just before or shortly after their arrival. Eventually coming to terms with this revelation, as well as with their feelings towards each other, will likely be the key to them getting off the train (this IS supposed to be a "closed loop" story after all).

As much as I would love to see LGBT related stuff in Infinity Train, I don't think they like each other. I think they're friendship is drifted apart. This happened to me in school. I met knew friends and started hanging out with them and spending less time with my first friend.
I think the fact that their numbers are always the same and that they came on the train together (along with their dialogue) insinuate some romantic tension, but it could always be platonic! I also feel that making a gay romance in the 80's would make for a good narrative, especially regarding this show since it's tackled big issues before; there would need to be some serious strings being pulled for a "friends drifting apart" plot to work.

I'm calling it now, the reason their numbers change at the same time and they have the same number is that they are have "relationship issues" and one-one wanted to introduce that but failed to mention it to the staff because hes one-one.
There was one thing that I remember from the unfinished car in book that one-one commented on that shows that Amelia is more than likely is the passive antagonist for this book and that was distorted gravity

Though the two secretly being gay would be a damn interesting plot point and super progressive, I think we might want to wait before jumping onto conclusions for that one. Personally, I thought the plot was highly aiming for the two being best friends for their entire lives, but they've slowly begun to drift apart due to differing interests or something similar, and they're having a hard time accepting that they're not as good of friends as they used to be.
If you're right and Owen managed to pull off convincing the producers to allow a full on gay relationship in a children's tv series, mega hats off to him and his team. However, I just find it creepy when fans assume a character's sexuality and start shipping them with whoever when nothing has been confirmed. I get obsessive tumblr girl vibes whenever people do this, regardless of the two character's genders or canon sexualities.
i really hope this is the way the story will go.
